I thought the music choice channels here were free to air and not locked. all i can get when i run a scan is the following locked transponders maybe i am on the wrong satellite? according to lyngsat the music choice channels are not locked. i am picking up different heads then lyngsat is saying on its list. can anybody get to the bottom of what i am on? info is below. if the music channels are locked and not free to air is it possible to buy the programing from music choice directly. my dish is 6 foot round an cband. lnb is set to 5950. who would i contact to buy this programing on each transponder i wish to buy the programing on? I want to legally buy the programing. something here dont seem right because this is all i can pick up and none of this even rings any head on there list for channels. did i point it to the wrong direction? is there something i missed thanks for the help in advance.

g14c 03947 h 19999 , g14c 03918 h 19999, amc21 12603 h 19999 , 12632 h 19999,
all 54 channels are locked. i do not think i hit the right sat. at 125 west. all of them are locked.

i did not find any free to air channels when i ran a scan i only was able to find locked channels.

Welcome to Satguys, Fred!

The music choice channels are FTA, but not all receivers work with them. What receiver are you using?

5150 is the most common Lo for C band LNBs, maybe try changing to that instead of 5950. What LNBs/LNBF are you using?

thanks.

Neither one of these STBs will receive the Music Choice channels. Currently the only two readily available STBs that tune the ACM format are the U4 and the HDVR3500. I would not recommend either STB unless you must absolutely receive MC. Another option for receiving ACM formatted channels is a DVB S2 USB or PCIE tuner in a PC.

Manhattan has announced a "soon to be released" STB that will receive ACM formatted channels. The STB release was originally scheduled for this summer, but appears to have been delayed. Based on the capabilities of the chipset used in the model, it likely will be worth waiting for (in my opinion).

am i on the right dish are them transponders right for that dish?

No idea about the transponders that you listed as they would have been incorrectly scanned with the wrong LNB LO selected. The 125w satellite C-band carries the TBN channels on 3720 MHz/Horizontal/26667 SR in the clear and can be viewed with your STBs.

this is all i can see for the channel names below. if anybody can make heads or tails of it please let me know. my receiver puts different channels but it said this is the channel name that is on this.

ch-7289 3918/h
ch-7289 12632/h
ch-7290 3918/h
ch-7290 12632/h
ch-7291 3918/h
ch-7291 12632/h
ch-7292 3918/h again @ 12632/h
ch-7293 3918/h again @12632/h
ch-7294 3918/h - 12632/h
ch-7294 3118/h - 12632/h
ch-7295 3918/h - 12632/h
ch-7296 12603/h
ch-7298 3947/h

If you are connected only to a C-band LNBF the logged transponder frequencies will be between 3700 and 4200MHz. As your list is also showing frequencies in the KU range, something is configured wrong in the STB settings to show channels on KU-band frequencies (10700-12700MHz).

The channel names appear to be generic and assigned by your STB for unidentified channels that it logged during a scan.

Probably best to perform a factory reset, set the LNB LO frequency to match your LNBF then perform a blind scan.

g14c 03947 h 19999 , g14c 03918 h 19999, amc21 12603 h 19999 , 12632 h 19999,
.

Best guess based on those frequencies is that you have a Ku band LNBF with a LO of 10600 MHz. Using an LO of 5950, 3947 MHz is actually 12,603 Mhz and 3918 MHz is 12,632 MHz. So you have logged just two transponders, not four. Maybe that is just a coincidence, but the math works.

I think those two KU band frequencies are Direct TV transponders, so not sure how you could even lock them.

Are you after the music choice channels in particular, or would just any background music channels do? And, do you have a C-band dish? I only ask because there are other FTA music channels on C-Band that are (sometimes) easier to get, but if you want to talk specifics it might be better to go to the "What's Up There" forum, since sometimes talking about things like that in an open forum causes them to disappear. All I will say for now is you might do well to do a blind scan of AMC-18 on the C-band side, or if you only have a Ku dish try blind scanning SES-3, but for some reason the FTA music channels there don't seem to scan as easily (and also they are not in stereo, if that matters to you). Of course neither of these would be suitable for use in a business, since you'd be violating copyright by playing their music without paying the licensing fee, unless you can figure out how to contact the stream owners and set up an account. But I don't really feel comfortable getting more specific about these in an open forum.

OK, looks like Dish network uses 12,603 and 12,632 MHz from 110 W, and I think any receiver should lock those, (though I have never tried). So you might be pointed at 110 W.

We really need to know what LNBF you have on your dish.

I had no luck with ebay item #
141427654434 so i replaced it with ebay item #
122037773983 and when i did i get all kind of channels. now a new thing is happening on blind scan. the blind scan found 11916 v 2398 but it has no channels on it. then it found 12130 v . I think i am close. all i did was move it up. the satlink i have is reading 92% signal and flashing 4%-65% channel quality all the time.

What brand and model LNBF is on your dish? Can you attach a photo?
This is what that eBay number came up with:
s-l500.jpg

http://www.ebay.com/itm/KU-Band-LNB...773983?hash=item1c6a04a69f:g:clQAAOSwZ1BXfQGe

You are on Ku not C-Band.

This is a C-band LNBF with LO 5150. Tunes wideband 3400-4200MHz.[/QUOTE]

i could not get no channels with that one what do i set it to? that was why i replaced it with the other one. so i should put that one back on and set the lo to 5150? what if i want ku band with it also?

i can tell you i have used them KU Band LNB Quad before and just changed my settings to 5950 and i was able to get cband find on the 97 west i get a few cband channels. that was why i tried it on the big dish. so now i know what ti set my c band eye to i can re try as soon as i get a good satfinder.

about the cband C-band LNBF what # do i need to set the thing on it has numbers all over it? like i was told 40 the can has all kind of numbers. I could not get it to pick up any channels so i though it was broken. that was why i removed it and put the ku one on the dish. This is only my 2ed dish i am new to fta and would like any help and guidance thank you in advance.

dish 1 is on disque 1.0 hope i spelled it right i set it to #1 for 97 west dish and #4 for 125W amc21 /g14.

Do you have two dishes? The dish you uploaded to your media profile does not appear to be 6' as you say. It looks to be a 1.2 meter(4ish foot) offset.
If you want C-Band on that dish, you will need first of all a conical scalar. Also you will not get many of the C-Band channels that a proper 10' or larger dish will get.
It will take more time at getting the LNBF set at the proper focal point, and over all tuning as it really was not designed for C-Band.
It is not something I would recommend for a newbie to tackle.
