Hi, new to the forums and glad I found this site. I am very green so forgive my elementary questions. I have aimed my satellite towards Galaxy 19 but am only getting Macy's channel. I also have scanned other satellites and they all pick up the Macy's channel but nothing else. Can someone please educate me on why only Macy's channels. Thanks for any help.

Macy's is on 105W/ AMC 15. As far as I know, there is no Macy's on 97W/Galaxy 19.

If you are getting Macy's on ALL satellites then your dish is not turning to other satellites.

Welcome to SatelliteGuys!!!

Yes, if you keep getting Macy's, then your dish is still on the same bird.
If you are indeed know you are actually going out and moving your dish, then you are not properly scanning with your receiver.

Tell us more about your setup and how you are moving your dish and know you are on a different satellite.
Dish type and size?
LNBF type?
Receiver name and model number?
Any switches in the mix?
Fixed dish or on a motor?
Are you using a satellite meter to align your dish or TV and receiver out at the dish?
et cetera??

I am using a meter and it shows a strong signal. My receiver shows about 78% strength but quality is in and out at the most 60% I have no motor and have aimed the dish at what I thought was Galaxy 19 and as mentioned it showed strong signal but it may be on another satellite. What I don't understand is when I search for channels through the receiver for any satellite I highlight it will always find the Macy's channels and was picking up news feeds but that is it.

Ok.. get ready to laugh at my pieced together set up.
LNB:
Standard KU Band Dual Twin Linear FTA Satellite Dish 10750 LNB 950-2000Mhz

Receiver:
FTA DVB-S2 Digital Satellite + Wifi IPTV Combo 1G DDR3 Receiver Blind TV BOX IKS

Dish: Old salvaged Starband Dish that is about 38"

Thanks for the welcome. I may very well not be scanning my receiver properly but I am using the Auto scan with the blind scan option.. that's about all I could figure out how to do.

Yes, I may be aiming improperly on a different satellite but as I mentioned in another reply, the perplexing thing is when I scan any satellite on the receiver is always will show the Macy's channel as a "get" found channel.

Not familiar with that receiver.
Guess I should have asked about more specifics about the meter.
If it is not a meter, that you can enter transponder information, I would set up a small tv and the receiver at the dish.
Go into the receiver and find 97WKu if you have that, it appears you do. Then look through the transponders that are in it for 12152 H 20000.
If that one is not in there, manually add it. Then raise the elevation on your dish a bit and pan your dish SLOWLY back toward the east. Also make sure you have your skew on the LNBF set properly for you location.
You can use dishpointer.com and enter your location and then select 97W to get the settings.
When you get a quality reading on 12152, peak your dish for it and lock it down. You will be on 97W.
Then when you blind scan, you should scan in over 200 channels.

Before moving your dish and trying to point at a different satellite, mark with a magic marker where it is now for you can get back to this position if needed. Mark both on the pole where it turns left and right as well as the elevation setting (where it moves up and down) As you work longer and longer turning and raising and lowering the dish, you will have a hard time remembering where it is now, especially if you try for hours to find another satellite, or even the next day. Right now you have a starting or reference point for you know how much to turn or raise/lower.

If the dish is the same as an old Starband I have here, it is only about 26" tall. So, will perform more like a 26" dish than a 38". Mine is oval and you can set the skew by rotating the mount. Should do reasonably well on 97W, though.

If needed, I can get a picture or two of mine. It got broke by a falling tree limb during a snow storm a few years ago. Have kept it, because I keep making a threat to rig something up on it. Not a real high priority item, though.

If you have the dish aimed at 105w (Macy's) it'll scan in whatever's on that sat. If you then select some other sat in the receiver menu and scan without physically moving the dish, it will just scan in the same channels. The receiver isn't 'smart' enough to know what sat the dish is aimed at, it just scans whatever channels are available from whatever sat the dish is pointed at, regardless of which sat is selected in the scan menu.

Welcome to SatGuys!
