For customers who would like DVR service, DISH has developed a new HD DVR – introducing the Hopper Duo. Hopper Duo is a feature-rich satellite receiver with a modern look and the ability to support a second HDTV with a Joey client in the home. Hopper Duo includes our newest Voice Remote, Wi-Fi, Netflix, and a variety of apps and other exciting features.

The Hopper Duo (pictured above) will be recommended to new DISH customers with one (1) or two (2) TVs in the home. It is recommended with the Joey 2.0, and will use the 54.0 remote.

Hopper Duo installations are included in technician’s HIP 12 metric. So, remember to connect the device to internet.

Necessary Actions

Please refer to compatibility and installation requirements for the new Hopper Duo.

Hopper Duo Compatibility
•Only one (1) Joey is allowed ?Joey 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, wireless, or 4k (Joey 2.0 will be the standard recommendation)

•Super Joey is not compatible

Hopper Duo Installation Requirements
•May be connected to a DPP or DPH LNBF or switch
•Max 200’ of coax between: ?Hopper Duo and the farthest LNBF
?Hopper Duo and Joey

Hopper Duo shares many of the same installation rules as Hopper (i.e. allowable cable length is 200’, the number of devices between any one Hopper and Joey is 2 – not including the Solo Hub).

However, the Hopper Duo uses a solo hub with a DPP (see diagram below) and connects to a DPP LNBF, which is also new.

So that explains why Dish has so many ViP722k's without hard drives, to use as replacements for 322/ViP222, and where all of those hard drives went.

Maybe they had thousands of new leftover ones that were ordered for 722 series refurbishments that aren’t going to be used now.

This is just plain stupid! A brand new 2 TB drive is only $60 and that is what I can buy it for. A HD is also probably the most likely component to fail in the unit, to start with an outdated, small used HD is just plain stupid

The cheapness of Dish never ceases to amaze.

Pardon my ignorance, but does this mean the Duo will have 12 tuners? If not, how many?

Maybe this is just an interim step, to use up all of the old hard drives, before coming out with the Hopper Duo 2. :)
