I just got this message ....

You could be watching your TV on this computer with a Sling Adapter.

Would you like to learn more?

Was fine when watching live then went to dvr recordings and got the above message like the player wasnt there....
Now it wont play live tv.

Any ideas ??

Sling playback from our Dish receivers is IMHO ridiculously complicated. How I wish we could just get a simple Sling client that didn't depend upon 20 different Dish servers (I hope I'm exaggerating) in order to work at all.

Is the HWS any better than the old 922? That 922 (and the wide availability of streaming services) has me completely uninterested in Sling.

I use the dish anywhere app on my phone Mon - Friday at work to watch a couple of news shows. Just about every day I have to do a hard reset on my phone and sometimes just a restart or both , just to get my phone to have a internet connection to my receiver. Then sometimes I still have to call home and ask my wife to reboot the Hopper, so I can connect my receiver to the internet so I can watch it. It shouldn’t be this hard to watch my phone , but I am in a location away from the cell phone towers and only get three bars on my phone and I have to leave it in the window sill to have it work at all.

We use the Dish Anywhere app on our FireTVstick in our RV quite often, sometimes not even setting up our dish for short overnight stays along the way to a destination. DA nearly always works quite well for us as long as we have reasonably good data speeds (at least 5Mbps) on our cell hotspots. We're streaming from an HWS at our upstate NY cottage that's on a 30Mbps Spectrum Internet service.

TBH, you are probably underestimating the number of servers.
