OTHER Help Setting up KU dish for G19

I am trying to set up my first FTA dish and I live in NE Texas. I have 30" dish with a Manhattan RC-1978 receiver and a orbital Tracker single KU LNBF. I know I got the elevation right and I think I got the azimuth right also. All I am able to receive is 55 scrambled channels. I do not know what I am doing wrong... Please help me figure out how to get it to work.

It sounds like your dish might be a little too far west. Try adjusting it ever so slightly back to the east while your receiver is tuned to a strong transponder on G19 (perhaps 11966 H 22000)

What are the names of some of the scrambled channels you were able to scan in?

They just have numbers such as $CH20.

What method did you use to be sure your azimuth is correct? Have you tried www.dishpointer.com
If you enter your exact location there you can select the sat you want, zoom in on the map and drop a pointer. A green line will extend along the path to the satellite and you can easily find an object in the distance like a pole, tree, etc and point your dish. Also, make sure you have skewed the lnb correctly.
 
Well you are getting something so at least you know the equipment is working! That's a good start.

I think that might be 110W Dish Network, but that VPID (7458) on that frequency does not match with your location (based on the info on Lyngsat, might be outdated), so i'm not sure. Also I'm a bit surprised to see 2-digit channel names, usually DN channels come up as 4 or 5 digit numbers

Try moving the dish eastward a bit and scan again. Let us know what you find
 
I did use dishpointer.com to get the azimuth and I did skew the LNB. I just looked it up again and reset the dish. Still no luck.
 
Before I moved it the signal quality was jumping around 10 to 47 percent. Now I got nothing.

With the transponder you are showing on the one channel highlighted, I think you are aimed at 91w, Nimiq 6.

Not arguing with you but if he's on 91W why didn't the four channel ABC News mux channels blind scan in? Also, Satbeams shows footprint for Nimiq 6 does not extend anywhere near Texas - wouldn't think you could get it that far south with only a 30" dish? :what

Who knows why, he isn't giving us enough information to figure out anything more. However, he shouldn't even be able to scan in those channels, unless his lnb is set to 10600, instead of 10750
 
I do not know that could explain why the signal on the satellite finder keeps on spiking and dropping without moving the dish...

As comfortably_numb said, make sure you have your receiver set to a strong active transponder for 97w. What kind of satellite finder are you using? Can you take the receiver/tv out to the dish? Much easier to monitor signal that way. If you are getting nothing now you will need to slowly move your dish azimuth east/west. If you don't get anything try raising or lowering the elevation a bit and sweep east/west again. Make only small adjustments as anything more can mean the difference between getting a signal or getting nothing. Once you get signal, do a blind scan and see if you have the sat you want. If not, before moving anything, mark everything (pole azimith, dish elevation, skew). That way you can return to a known reference point if needed. Be patient and you will get it. :)

I finally was able to work on it again today, I took the dish off and put a level to the pole it mounts on. The pole was about 3-4 degrees off level. Reset the dish and accounted for the pole. Finaly got G19. Then used it as a reference for SES 3 and picked it up, but not getting the radio now...
