Dish removal

Hello,
I'm new to this community and not sure this is the right place for my question.
We have 4 C-band dishes (10 ft+) needed to be removed. Those are mounted on the roof.
I'm seeking professionals who can remove them asap.
Will appreciate for any input.

Too far away for me. I'm on the wrong side of the country. Three of those look like commercial dishes. Shouldn't have a problem finding someone to get those down. You said you wanted them removed. Does that mean whom ever takes them down can have them? Just curious.

If you can't find anybody here to remove them and will have to pay somebody to do so, you might be able to make up some of the money by removing the FEEDS & lnbs, and offering them here. It only takes a crescent wrench and screwdriver.

Fiberglass/Composite type dishes like those, are extremely heavy, and you'll likely need pros and a crane to get them down. Depending on the height of the building that is.

On the other hand, fiberglass/composite dishes are REAL easy to cut up into small pieces with a standard electric circular saw.... I've done it myself with an old 11 foot one a long time ago, and then placed it in the garbage. It was amazing how easy they chop up (they are hollow inside), yet when fully assembled, they seem so solid and heavy. You could do that, and take the remains down in an elevator. I'd still encourage you to salvage the feeds and lnbs though...

I'd run an ad in the local swap and shop paper if there's one in your area. Surely there's someone in your area that would be interested in them. A radio or TV station perhaps? San Francisco is a tough area with all their restrictions. Never know what you'll run into as far as permits and such. Power lines could be another problem.

Thank you for your advice. I reached DishDisposal.com, but their local guy said the work would be out of their boundary.
I'm going to put an ad on Craigslist and will see. Thanks again.

Those solid commercial dishes would be awsome for FTA... but hope you can find a commercial user who needs some. Guess Brain @Ti is not that far from SF maybe he knows someone..

Highly desirable dishes and mounts for the right party, but might not warrant the removal cost. The trailer mounted dish is of interest...

How many stories (feet) high is the roof. Is there access to the antenna positions with a boom truck from the ground (private parking lot, etc. or from public roadway)? Not much cost or labor to lift dishes and mounts directly from install positions, but if the dishes, mounts and ballast would need to be first disassembled and moved to a removal access area, it will become a costly multiple day removal by a crew.

In my opinion, it would be worth removing for reuse if the job could be completed by direct lift with a boom truck, sling and ballast bucket. An insured and bonded boom truck and crew would be the least expensive for a day minimum starting at $2k.

If each dish and mount required disassembly and movement along with the ballast to a roof location accessible by a boom truck or if the parts required manual lowering, it would likely be a multiple day job for a crew and best to contract with a disposal company. This option would likely cost $5-10k.

If permits are needed for accessing from public roadway, add time and cost... One must also consider the wear and potential damage to the roof by crew or mount removal.

Were you able to discuss removal options with any tech who may have serviced the satellite system in past years?
