I downloaded the NASA 4K channel on Roku last night. Picture looks AMAZING. And it's free Anybody who enjoys 4K quality should check it out

We did have the Big 10 Basketball Tournament and some MLB last year in the 6 month period so I suppose there could be a repeat of that. We can only wait and see. The main crux of my above post was to look to the Women's World Cup as a probable....

But it will still be a 1080i presentation. Other networks have done exactly the same thing for the Super Bowl.

The point of this announcement by CBS is useless.
Why announce what kind of cameras you are using without putting providers in here to take advantage of the 4k.
Dumbing down 4k to 1080i is not even close the same.

They can use that to digitally zoom in on a knee being down or not, a fumble, etc.

Gimmicky, practically useless.

It actually works quite well for slomo shots. They are very tight.

Each to his own. I like some of it. But the main point is to have Dish have their own 4k channel, they don't have to program it like Directv's channel.

I cannot see a difference in PQ between the 4k broadcast and the up convert that my LG OLED does. Am I doing something wrong?

Not really, some of these TVs do a great job of up conversion. That said, I was not impressed with the last two college basketball games that were on 540-01.

Sorry, basketball to me is a waste of bandwidth. Fox does lots of major league baseball. Have they had baseball in 4K in the past?
