We did have the Big 10 Basketball Tournament and some MLB last year in the 6 month period so I suppose there could be a repeat of that. We can only wait and see. The main crux of my above post was to look to the Women's World Cup as a probable....

But it will still be a 1080i presentation. Other networks have done exactly the same thing for the Super Bowl.
 
The point of this announcement by CBS is useless.
Why announce what kind of cameras you are using without putting providers in here to take advantage of the 4k.
Dumbing down 4k to 1080i is not even close the same.

They can use that to digitally zoom in on a knee being down or not, a fumble, etc.

Gimmicky, practically useless.
 
Not a big time basketball fan but glad to see something after a long drought.
 
I cannot see a difference in PQ between the 4k broadcast and the up convert that my LG OLED does. Am I doing something wrong?

Not really, some of these TVs do a great job of up conversion. That said, I was not impressed with the last two college basketball games that were on 540-01.
