Let them fail. By the way, anyone still want to challenge the idea of what would happen if one more major provider dumped HBO as well?
Spectrum did not drop Cinemax owned by HBO and crappy AT&T but they did remove it from there Gold package and charge extra for it. I see many providers just charging extra removing it from bundles like "Gold" or "Premium" pack.

I expect that as soon as Game of Thrones comes back on that if HBO and Dish have not settled, the stampede to Direct TV will be Biblical !!
As I recall the numbers, less than 10% of Dish subscribers were paying for HBO. A number of those subscribers have likely found the savings better than the programs they'll miss, and others will stream HBO, so I don't expect any "Biblical" class stampede...

I'm one of those that will stream @ $15 per while the shows I want are running. I think we are left now with just those people, who must have those shoes and do not have Internet access faster than dial-up. I do not think that is a high number so, no, no Biblical "flood".

Yeah if Charlie anticipated a mass exodus of Dish for DirecTV because of HBO, he wouldn't be saying no to them. Streaming and people getting it by other means, are main options. I also don't think it's going to be such a big thing because it's been quite a while since GOT has been on and yes it's the final season and not the first time after a long hiatus. But I doubt very much there will be any biblical moves to AT&T/DirecTv.

We liked GOT a lot more the first few years than we do now. The long gaps between seasons was the principle reason. We already talked about it here and we can wait to see it later.

I wonder if there is a breakdown on how many subs Dish had for HBO? Or for that matter, the rest of the main premiums like Showtime and Starz? In other words, can Dish survive not offering HBO/Cinemax in the long run? I feel the ones that still want HBO have either jumped ship for cable or Direct, or like me just sub to the streaming option on Roku/Firestick. I still like Dish.

Charlie said 2.5 million... or less than 20%.

Did their contract come for renewal yet? That’s the question... are they preparing for a contract renewal? We won’t know if anyone will or will not drop them until a contract expires...

...and of those, only half were actually paying for their HBO service. ;)
