Team Summit 2019

I said it before and I'll say it again Dish
will be the last company standing. DirecTV may fade away but all those customers that refuse to move to the IP based direct will go to Dish and since he mentioned consolidation is ok don't be surprised if they try to buy the D* satellite business eventually. Remember there is still a segment of the population that depends on or absolutely must have pay TV

I refuse to believe that.

As more and more areas get access to fast reliable internet, the less of a need there is for satellite.

The company who provides a fast reliable internet connection eventually will win the customer over if they need traditional video service.

There are fewer and fewer homes that do not subscribe to internet. The homes that don’t have internet are generally elderly customers.

The younger folks will eventually get older and they are not giving up their internet access.

The only customers left will be the ones in the sticks, and those customers along are not enough to justify keeping a DBS service in business.

Where are these more and more areas?? Almost all of my region is rural farm country and there is no high speed internet coming there anytime soon. And my region is almost all of Illinois south of I-80

IMO, DTV is done. They've done nothing to diversify and expand their revenue sources - other than cable company style price increases. They've done little to improve their technology. And while both companies are bleeding customers, DTV is at a higher rate. It used to be 3 out of 10 new connects were replacing DTV. Now it's 19 out of 20.

You live and work in a larger city with it's various suburbs. Most Americans do. That's your turf. However, there are still a substantial number of Americans who live in rural settings, about 60 million people or 19% of the population. Those people have distinctly different daily lives than city dwellers. But, after slopping the hogs and feeding the chickens (sarcasm intended), they still have a couple of hours available daily for entertainment. For now, satellite is still one of their best options for television.

Time to play name that celeb.

Anyone recognize this 80’s icon?

Blair!!!!!!! She still looks pretty good. Where's Tootie and Joe?

In other words, you could hook up the Snap to the top rear port as required, then use a USB hub to connect your remaining USB devices to the bottom rear port to still have all your devices.
That's what I'm planning to do since I've already got the HUB working which leaves the top USB port available for the Snap. the only advice I can provide is to be sure to get a powered HUB.

Reminds me of when I had to hook up my SlingTV to my ViP 722 and had an EHD connected. I found a 12" right-angle USB-A Male to USB-A Female extension so I could use the front panel USB port on the 722 and still close the door. It worked nicely for several years until I got our Hopper 3.

Scott, what about multiple Ho's in the same house; do you still only need 1 SNAP, to improve the speed on ALL???

You would need one on each Hopper since that is where the graphic processing for the menus is done.

I'm not sure how you can be so far out of touch with reality but man the air must be thin up there.
