Today marks the 11-month anniversary of HBO and Cinemax being removed.
Just noticed this in my office. The last dish network branded sign. Likely 15 years old
That's late in Cinemax's multi max, too. Moremax was originally Cinemax 2, and by the change to Moremax, they already launched at least Actionmax and Thrillermax.
I always hated the logos during that era. They were too close to Showtime's. I liked the late 80s and 90s boxed letter logo, and I like the current logos.

Oh I remember that logo...on my 722 the red dot would orbit around the oval
I think that banner is from when I opened my office in 2000.
On a related note, I just saw a post on FB that xfinity maybe about to drop STARZ and add EPIX to there premium lineup while STARZ is looking to add to Amazon Prime subscription channels. The plot thickens
Comcast and DirecTV were the two who stated that there were enough preimun movie channels when Epix launched 10 years ago. Since both are now dealing with them, I guess Epix proved it's worth and the two companies are eating their words.
I see premium movie selection (satellite/cable and streaming services) to be hitting a near video game crash level. Too much options with limited selections on each, resulting with many people just walking away. Prime is the only one that has benefits. I can get free shipping on my Christmas gifts being sent to my house, and I can watch Man in the High Castle. Good on multiple grounds.
At home, I use the Dish Movie Pack. That gets me Starz On Demand and Epix. Then we do pay for Netflix. That's enough for me. I grew up with HBO and Cinemax, yet never paid for them since I owned my home and had Dish. I never saw a need for them.

Epix proved its worth as soon as they added Pennyworth. Gotta keep the Batman fans happy!
After the 4th episode,(you can probably guess why) I was disappointed by Pennyworth, but it has great potential. Good acting, interesting alternate post war setting and fine cinematography. But you have certainly touched on why it is gaining outlets. It's true that there were enough premium movie channels when it launched. You can get movies anywhere. But it is the original programming that separates them. HBO changed everything when they produced OZ, followed by the Sopranos, Rome, Deadwood, etc. NOW there was a reason to watch a particular "premium movie channel".
EPIX has quite a few now, including what I think is one of the best shows since Breaking Bad called Get Shorty. Don't be fooled into thinking it is some retelling or continuation of the John Travolta movie of the same name. The only thing they have in common is [funny] mobsters who get into producing movies in Hollywood as a way to launder drug money. It's now in the middle its third season (seven episodes). The first season (ten episodes) is up on Netflix and the Hopper has the second season in its "On Demand" section.
It stars Chris O'Dowd, Ray Romano, Sean Bridgers and this years "villain" is played by Steven Weber.
Its fabulous.

Runs and founded a multi billion $$ business that is a top 4 business in the industry, and makes $3M... not exactly taking in the dough in comparison to what he is actually doing.
