NFL 2019 Season

Those were make-up calls for the ones the refs blew in the Packers/Eagles game. Can we have a little cheese with the whine? :happydance
You don't make up for a call in another game against a different team ...

No make up calls required, just call the damn game ....
No whine either ... just calling what was shown on the TV

Had the calls been correct, the Lions would have won the game.

15 yard call on the DB didn't help any, seeing he was clearly going for the ball, no contact with the head and gets called (not targeting) but extended the drive and Packers scored on the drive.

Lions outplayed the Packers and lost the game compliments of the NFL officials.

Seeing more than usual bad calls this year with both missed and unnecessary calls. Then when challenged even with the replay clearly showing an illegal pick they still wouldn't correct the call.
I hope they're not going down the same rabbit hole as the rigged NBA's heavily stacked super teams where nothing is fair and equal its all about heavily watched markets and revenue.

and if the Lions wouldn't have kept settling for field goals instead of TD's they still would have won. Stafford is another Philip Rivers - flashes of brilliance followed by the mundane. Neither he nor Rivers are ever going to win a championship. The "make up call" comment was being facetious, not serious. The refs blew that game, and many, many more games, in a similar way. Al Riveron, the VP of officiating, needs to be canned and somebody who isn't an idiot needs to replace him or the problem will only continue to get worse.

I know we have or had a chiefs fan roaming these parts. Mestevo? Anyway, really disappointed to see Mahomes get injured like that. I'm a big fan. As far as the AFC goes I don't see anybody stopping the Pats from going to the SB again.
Not that the chiefs had a defense that can compete properly anyway.

More Blind Refs in the NFL ...
While tonights Steelers/ Dolphins game is terrible ...

The last 2 minutes of the 1st half ....
Steelers throw deep, both payers are somewhat hand checking, which is usually left alone (been going on all game, not called) Big play down to the 6 yard line, called OPI ...
Yet 2 plays later they throw one down the other sideline and its OBVIOUS DPI as the guy ran him out of bounds and not allowed to get back towards the ball .... No Call.

They need to fire all the refs and hire new.

What's the point of challenging those calls if the ruling on the field is going to stand? This overreaction to what happened last season with the Saints/Rams game has made the refs especially irritating this year.

Refs almost determine game outcome once again. Late in the Pittsburgh/Indianapolis game with the Steelers leading by 2, a pass interference is called on Pittsburgh when the ball was obviously uncatchable. Play was challenged, game commentators unanimously agreed, review confirmed it, but the refs let it stand. Put the Colts in FG range to kick for the win.

Too bad for the refs that Vinateri shanked the hell out of it.

Just saw an interesting one at the Packers/Chargers game. 4th down, punting team on, with 4 secs on the play clock the ref is still holding the ball, he starts to back out, the clock runs down to zero and they throw a flag for delay of game. Seriously?? He was still backpedaling as the play clock hit zero. What is wrong with these people??

That game was determined a series earlier when Tomlin decided to play it safe and run the ball, instead of going for first downs and continue to make plays to kill the clock ...
He ran the ball 3 plays and punted, but still left well over 2 minutes on the clock, actually I think it was more like 3:30 left when he punted.

Rivers laid another egg, 3 int's that counted and 2 more that were called back for a defensive lineman having his pinky over the line at the snap of the ball. I wish people would stop calling him "The best quarterback who's never won a Superbowl.", because he isn't. He is incapable of being consistent. He and that guy in Detroit belong in the same room together and maybe it's time to move on from both of them.

Only one that was really a badly thrown pass. One was tipped and the last was a Hail Mary. Chargers problem is they're missing the starting offensive tackles. Hard to get good pass protection that way.

Isn't that the same lament (excuse?) we've heard for the past 15 years? Fact is historically he gets the ball out in an average of 2.5 seconds. The highest rate of sacks occurs between 2.4 and 2.5 seconds. He's too slow. Derek Carr, for instance, has been clocked at an average of 1.97 seconds. Baker Mayfield, on the other hand, has been clocked at 3.07 seconds and we all know how well he's doing. The league average is about 2.4 seconds so he's below avaerage. It's not just the risk of getting sacked if you hold on to the ball too long but it also allows the defense to catch up to the receivers, even after a double move. Since he became a starter in 2006 he's been sacked 429 times for an average of 30.6 per season.

Over his career his completion percentage is below 65% and his TD to INT ratio is barely above 2 to 1. That's exactly average for an NFL quarterback. If you look at the top of that list, all Superbowl winners, Aaron Rodgers leads at 4.3 to 1 with Russell Wilson at 3.4 and Brady at 3.02. No, a 15 year career of stats and record adds up to an average quarterback and average doesn't get it done in today's NFL.

Where does that put Big Ben ... I'm sure he throws much later than that on most plays ... He's probably around 5-7 seconds.
He waits till the last second possible to let his recvrs make a play.
He extends most plays ...

Hey Guys! I have to say, I am VERY optimistic about my Raiders! I would have been happy with a 7-9 record, but never in my WILDEST dreams did I ever think that after the murderers row of a schedule, no LEGIT #1 offensive threat and a bunch of rookies and a crappy set of DBs...would they be 5-4 and 1/2 game behind the the Chiefs...

I know it's been a while and I am 1000% positive this topic has been hit a few times...but... GOOD GOD, more technology has made NFL reffing the worst I have ever seen. IF you sneeze on a QB, it's roughing the passer(both in college AND the pros), if you accidentally touch a WR, it's a pass interference ....and do even get me started on spearing/leading with the helmet tackles. WHAT is a defender to do, ASK PERMISSION to where they can tackle someone??
