AT&T TV National Launch

I signed up just to see what it would be like. I find it funny all the branding is Directv.

What branding is DirecTV? There’s absolutely nothing mentioning DirecTV on AT&T TV. The package names are the same and channel numbers, but Joe Six Pack doesn’t know that. Your average consumer wouldn’t get a hint of DirecTV out of it. Unless perhaps they’d had D* in the past or remembered DirecTV Now.

I shouldnt have said branding. But flip the box over and it talks about how D* is a trademark of AT&T. Obviously this was supposed to be branded D* but that was changed.

You seem misinformed. Analysts are tripping over each other to recommend buying AT&T right now.
As of today there are 8 buy and 12 hold or sell recommendations (T Rowe Price). On Nasdaq it's 10-8 buy. Overall it's 18-20 hold or sell, not buy. They might be tripping but it isn't over each other to recommend buying. Since this is just one more pile of uknowhat being slung up against the wall by AT&T why think it has any more chance of sticking than any of the other services they launched?

Here's how dysfunctional they are, there are spokepeople for AT&T who have come right out and said their goal is to move DTV customers to their streaming service, right? Then explain this quote from their terms & agreement for AT&T TV:

*$19.95 ACTIVATION, EARLY TERMINATION FEE OF $15/MO. FOR EACH MONTH REMAINING ON AGMT., EQUIPMENT NON-RETURN AND ADD'L FEES APPLY. Price incl. AT&T TV Pkg., and 1 AT&T TV device. New residential customers only, excluding DIRECTV and U-verse TV customers. Restr's apply.

HoTat2 , Well, if ATT wants to carry "ALL" the locals, they have to pay the local stations/corporation for entitlement.....and etc., with any programming contracts.
Well possibly so ...

But the point remains that if AT&T TV is supposed to be like a "dish-less" DIRECTV service, then they're really going to have to step it up in the area of local station carriage (and for RSNs in markets like LA).
