Just had DTV installed. Really liking it!

I had very few problems with DTV. I may not watch all the channels I get but at least i have all the channels in one package. I may pay more for DTV but it worth it. Streaming service prices are going up also Internet provider will put cap on how much usages you can use then they charge you extra when you go over which is expensive.
Not all providers have caps. Even with the ones that do generally the higher speed you pay for the higher cap you get or it includes unlimited

Xfinity is one huge culprit with “caps”. Granted you can pay like $25-$30 extra a month for what they call “XFi advantage”, giving you unlimited. But that’s an extra $25-$30 a month out of your pocket. WOW now imposing caps beginning June 1st as well. Not sure how ATT fiber does it?

I enjoyed DirectTV for many years starting in 1996. Back when you had two bills if you had premium channels like HBO, Cinemax etc. One was from DirectTV and the other was from USSB. Everything was fine right up to the point when I had to move to a different state. It was a hurried move and I wound up in temporary housing for nearly a year. When I bought my home I called to get my service turned back on I was informed that I owed close to a thousand dollars. Evidently they turn the service back on if you don't contact them in a certain amount of time. The worst part about it is that they said they billed to my old address and it was never forwarded. Anyway, they wouldn't activate my service unless I paid for the time I was in my temporary rental. I said that I was unwilling to pay for services that I never received. They said, "too bad" and I said, "adios." Its too bad really. Up until that experience I really liked DirectTV and referred them to all my friends.

the most awful problem i had with them was when i was a beta tester for the brand new hs17. that was horrible. i kept it a few days and had to move heaven & earth to get my hr54 back.

we have a 300/20 plan & my kids stream with hulu, netflix & hbomax. their generation dont seem to like live tv. im not a fan of streaming at all. my isp has data caps and charges $5 for every 50gb over the first 1.5gb used. we have exceeded the limit twice over the last few years but its not been a real problem yet. my daughter will facetime her friends on one device while streaming tv on the other. no doubt my isp is loving it :(

Except for a 1 year experiment with Dish (back when they had their horrible 811 receiver) and a couple months with Comcast, I've had DIRECTV when they first came out with the Sony A1 receiver whenever that was. Since then I've lost track of all the receivers I've had from one's that I had to buy to one's that I've received as part of their testing program. I've got things from a H21, to a H44 to a HR54 sitting up in the closet with a few unused clients.

I used to have a HR44 and HR54 along with my HS17 all running but when AT&T changed their system to not allow any programming changes if it saw other STB's along with the HS17 I got rid of everything and kept the HS17, three C61K's and three C61W's.

Right now I have Spectrum 200/10Mbps for internet which works fine for the two of use and can stream 4K content while using our devices with no problems. I keep DIRECTV because I like the convince of going to one place for most of our viewing, no need to switch apps to find a certain network. Plus Spectrum can't wait until they can start imposing caps, which will happen in the not to distance future once their agreement to not implement them so they could merge with TWC.

I was watching Masters today (certain holes) in 4K. Amazing! Also, the CBS feed of the Masters on my DirecTV is far sharper than any streaming service I had. Including ATT TV.

This is very much a "your mileage will vary" as there is no "CBS feed" of the Masters, only their feed of your local CBS station. Some people will experience better quality than others depending on how many subchannels their CBS station has (and if they are cutting their bandwidth or eliminating some of them entirely during the Masters broadcast to give it better quality) and how their feed is delivered to Directv.

That $25 for xFi Advantage includes the modem rental, so the difference is only $10 more.

I love my DirecTV, but my sweetheart employee discount of $10.30/mo. is going to end when I retire this year. I will need to decide if I keep it....

I agree- what is going on with streaming is all current channels are rushing to streaming even at $10 it adds up a lot and causes a lot of work to cancel and add streamers --making the combined above cost More than D*

Agree 4k netflix is like $20 now

Add that to the cost of all the streaming things and your almost at the price of D*

Amazon $12
Disney/espn/hulu $14?
Paramount + $6

And I'm sure there are others ...
