Team,
can anyone tell me why my C band dish positioner moves when I change satellites with my KU band dish? In the menu settings the KU dish uses USALS for location and the C band dish positioner is set to off. Both are using DISEqC 1.0
please advise,
thanks

If you have a VBox positioner on the C-Band dish, it could be your problem. Most VBoxes are compatible with DiSEqC 1.0 commands for P1 ~ P4. This function is automatically enabled when you cut power(unplug) the VBox. Until the VBox receives a DiSEqC 1.2 command it responds to DiSEqC 1.0 for 1~4 if those positions are programmed. I use VBoxes and DiSEqC 1.0 switches so I don't use positions 1~4. If there is a power outage my setup won't respond incorrectly when the power comes back on. :)

The switch is installed in a weather proof box at the KU band pole mount as seen in my profile picture. One cable from the receiver inputs the switch one cable out to the KU dish and one cable out to C dish.

I do have a V box from Ricks satellite

As I suspected. Reset the VBox to clear the programming and reprogram without using P1 ~ P4. Naturally you will have to change position numbers in the receiver too if you are wanting to use DiSEqC 1.2. If you are just using the remote to move the dish than you can just disconnect the coax from the VBox.

One of the cables goes directly to the C-band LNB? As in the setup, no diseqc 1.2 command is issued for the c-band dish?
Or is the sat-signal still going through the V-box, even though no diseqc 1.2 GotoNn command is issued?

Still, when you issue a diseqc 2/2 command, the voltage should not reach the C-band port of the switch. There are only two ways that I can think of that that could happen: with a shorted port of the diseqc switch, or when the switch, while switching, switches very briefly to the default port (1/2).

You can test for shorted switch by disconnecting the diseqc 2 port cable, and check if the C-band LNB is reached by diseqc setting 1/2 AND by diseqc setting 2/2. When, even if you chose diseqc 2/2, the signal from c-band can still be received, the switch is shorted.
For the other possibility: change ports from the switch! When you don't use diseqc 1.2 GotoNn commands for C-band, there would be no problem. Otherwise the problem would possibly shift to the Ku-motor....
