Looks like MeTV and Dish have not come to a new deal and the channel was removed this evening. There are quite a few tweets to Dish about dropping the channel. Dish Promise.com says that MeTV backed out of a handshake deal.

Maybe this is why the OTA channel listing in Chicago was fixed for MeTV last week :biggrin

I couldn't get dishpromise.com to load but just checked the guide again and what was listed as "not available" starting at 8:00pm MST and beyond is now back to listing the regular programming??? Maybe they made a last minute deal, fingers crossed.

As much as I hate to admit it, this is one of my favorite channels. Beats the hell out of reality shows that dominate programming these days.

Hope they worked something out. For us old coggers it's nice being able to watch shows when we were younger. Just what is Dr. Smith up to next week? Or what's the next possible Mission Impossible?

This must be one of the shortest disruptions in Dish history.
Tegna and Sinclair each had some notably short disputes with Dish. Of course, that was a few disputes ago for each company. Both of them went on to have longer (much longer in Tegna's case) disputes the next time(s) around. For the short disputes, each company's channels were removed for a few minutes in the middle of the night, when very few people would be watching. What makes this MeTV dispute notable (if it is truly over) is that it happened during prime time.

Lincoln, Nebraska market? Are you on Eastern Arc or Western Arc? I wonder if that makes a difference. This one sounds like technical difficulties on Dish's end.
Yes, Lincoln. I reported it about a month ago... I don't know which Arc, what do I look for?

For any Dish customers who really need their MeTV fix, be aware that it recently joined the line-up of channels at the skinny streaming cable TV service Frndly TV, which sells its "Classic" package (HD, 2 screens, unlimited DVR storage with 3 month retention, 72 hour look-back) for $9/mo. This little service can pretty much replace Dish's Heartland Package and then some. Channels included:
  • MeTV
  • H&I
  • Start TV
  • Decades
  • Story Television
  • Get TV
  • Game Show Network
  • INSP
  • Hallmark
  • Hallmark Movies & Mysteries
  • Hallmark Drama
  • A&E
  • History
  • Lifetime
  • LMN
  • Vice
  • The Weather Channel
  • Circle
  • GAC Family
  • GAC Living
  • UpTV
  • Dove Channel
  • plus a few others

While on the channel, press the Info button, then the Recall button. You should see a pop-up telling you which satellite the channel is on. Your SD local feed is on 110 (Western Arc) or 61.5 (Eastern Arc).

Then, press the Home button three times (or Menu button twice, depending on remote control model) to go to the Diagnostics screen. Go down to Dish (option number 3) and see which satellites are listed. If you have some kind of mixed-arc setup that includes both 61.5 and 110, that could be causing you problems receiving this station.

110 is the correct satellite #.

Here’s a pic of what I see after following your instructions.

Are you having problems with any other standard-def local feeds? You may not have noticed, since all of your other locals are also carried in HD at 129. I am just curious if maybe you are having problems receiving that particular spotbeam at 110, or only having problems with that one SD-only channel.

Nope, just MeTV 005-00.

That could be why they were not at Team Summit as they are normally there.

I am lucky to get MeTV and MeTV+ from over the air. And honestly those two channels are some of my most watched channels.
The same is true here. We have a Weigel translator here on the Northern Oregon Coast as well as the Sinclair Portland translator that has METV 2.2 (But only in SD).

Those are cool apps too. Hopefully they will add METV+, even though I do get it OTA. They have Rewind TV, which is not OTA here as yet, as the Portland station still has old contracts. Hopefully it will be added later this year.
I agree, my old Big Dish is just sitting out there. I plan to get rid of it this Summer. Not needed any longer.
