MLB 2022 Season

Compared to the 7 inning doubleheaders and the extra innings “Manfred Man” on second base, I think this is a great idea. The ASG is an exhibition that doesn’t need to be prolonged beyond 9 innings. I’m actually gonna root for a tie to happen. I think having a HR derby settle a tie is kind of a cool thing. If the NHL can settle meaningful regular season games with a shootout, I don’t think it’s crazy for MLB to settle an exhibition game with a HR derby. Just my opinion
I disagree ... obviously .

I want to see the game of baseball, not Manfords stupid ideas of what can we change next.

The NHL went to hell when the Shootout started to finish games, it's the same thing, lets NOT play the game when it gets to the most important parts.
I mostly quit watching Hockey in 2005 for the most part, even though the Shooot out was already there, its just sad.

Can't wait till we settle the Super Bowl by seeing how many FG's kickers can make in a row.

Now I’m going to complain about something. The American League uniforms are soooooooo fugly!!!
Well, I will say they were "Different" ....
I thought they were more Dark than anything.

I only watched maybe an inning or so, found "Other" things to do.

The rules have changed so much I lost interest.

I thought for sure the NL would score in the 9th inning , just so they could do a "HR Derby".

Wasn't the HR Derby Yesterday, why should they do one during a game as well ?

Maybe next year, they will make a HR Derby for innings 4 thru 6 and maybe a baserunning vs Catcher contest for innings 7-8 and a Pitching duo for the 9th.

The HR derby was on Monday evening and the National league won so that would of been tie breaker as I understand....Didnt even watch game last night.

I think you got it mixed up ...
From what I think I read or heard, was that IF the game ended in a tie after 9 innings, they would not play on, they would start a HR Derby contest to determine a winner ....

I really think the Commish has got to GO, before baseball is no longer.

It was an exhibition. It doesn’t even decide the WS home advantage anymore. Lighten up, Jimbo….

ASG drew an incredible 7.5 MILLION ....
Thats all Folks !

Manford keep screwing with the rules and the Seasonal games won't draw either.

I’m sorry but there’s no correlation AT ALL between the possibility of a HR derby to determine a winner and low ratings. In fact, I would STRONGLY argue that more people stayed up for a 3-2 game in the 9th inning than would have under the previous format.

Doesn't even determine the WS home field advantage ???
Thats another thing that was stupid BS.

Whats wrong with the team with the best RECORD having Home Field Advantage ????

Not to speak for Cosmo here, but I’m pretty sure his point “doesn’t even determine WS home field advantage anymore” was to emphasis its even more of an exhibition game without that stipulation.

I agree ... its just a stupid idea.

The fact that That is all that watched it is bad enough.

Exhibition game .... the 70's are rolling in thier grave ....

It use to be that you play the ASG to show who the better league was ... not anymore.

Its no wonder no one is watching the game anymore.

By the way, I agree with you 100% that the winner of the ASG determining home field advantage in the World Series was ridiculous. At least they rectified that mistake.

It's always been an exhibition.

Look at the lineups from the 70s and how many HOFers are in there. Now, a lot of players leave the park as soon as they're taken out of the game. Gotta catch that private jet back....

From this year's game: How many casual baseball fans can name the team the pitchers play for, outside of Kershaw of course??

If thats the case, then they may as well do away with it.
Just give the players a week break in the middle of the season, many of them don't want to be there anyways.

Btw, outside of teams I follow, I knew a few, and thats all ...

Back in the 70's .. I knew ALL the players on both sides.

The world we are in now is a world of "Instant gratification" and "What have you done for Me " world ...
No Attention span at all ....
This is why people watch the Red Zone channel instead of the game itself ... Or they are Fantasy players or gamblers.

Why does everything have to happen YESTERDAY ?
