DIRECTV unlikely to keep NFL Sunday Ticket

Me as well.

So much nonsense from the detractors.
Actually, so much nonsense from most the those posting here ...
No one know any of this for an absolute ...

We don't even know if Amazon is going to get it ...

Are we gonna start another thread doing Point and Counterpoint if Apple gets it too ....

This thread is now over 3300 posts of people going back and forth complaining about a persons Opinion ...

Isn't there anything better than going back and forth complaining, stating that one person knows better than the next ?

This use to be a Great place to hang out and have fun discussing the latest events and info ... it has changed into a Who's better than Who .... Sadly.

Not really, the thread is the length it is because of blatant trolling and objectively false and often unsourced statements passed as fact, while those of us looking forward to the evolution and increased availability of the product are actively dispelling the FUD.

It's not a difference of opinion driving the length of the thread, it's people who have little/no interest in the package (or the NFL?) either trolling or just saying the same things over and over. Just look at the tone and actual content of some of the posts in the last page or so - that's largely why we're on post 3k+.

Absent the posting habits of a couple people this would be a fraction of the size and some casual speculation over NFLST as we get the random reports and trickles of information. Instead of the regular trolling and condemnation of streaming by people who have no interest in it. Scott and mods post in this thread occasionally, so that's an implicit endorsement of it, take it up w/ them if you feel there should be changes - doesn't seem like they have an issue with it.

The NFL Sunday Ticket needs to allow you to buy just one team at a lower cost
That's already been addressed here, many, many, many posts ago. The NFL has already expressed a desire for package flexibility in the new offering.
Depends on the price, for example the MLB Package always goes on sale 4 weeks after the season starts, $69 for all teams or $59 for a single team.

If it is only, for example, a $50 difference, I would go for all teams, a $100 difference, I would have to think hard about it.

So what’s the delay? Presumably, the NFL has yet to get the number it wants.

And so the NFL waits. Really, the deadline doesn’t arrive until Week One of next season. Most of the candidates have the infrastructure in place to quickly slap together whatever needs to be done to fit the product within its current array of streaming options.

REALLY ?????

Heres hoping that we don't have to watch something that is thrown together at the last minute.
I don't want 1990's quality in 2023.

Jesus....you are quoting an article from July....and assuming some of the largest streaming providers are going to "slap something together". At least you seem to like football, unlike Juan, who I'm guessing neither watches football or has ST.....yet has posted about a hundred times in this tread.

Stop with the personal attacks

There is no deal so why would any streaming company plan for something they don't want at the price the NFL is asking

Why do you think it would be "slapped together"? They are just streaming the CBS & Fox productions of the games, they aren't producing them themselves. You think Apple and Amazon need a half year's notice to live stream 8 or 9 events on a Sunday afternoon none of which are likely to have even a million viewers?

Understand that this WILL be predicated, because it cannot make money on a cash basis. Thus things like one-team packages, one-week packages would be difficult to manage.

As to “slapping it together” well, it really is just tossing up what Fox and CBS have already produced (plus a whopping 2 minutes per hour of commercials) and its is pretty clear that DirecTV will handle the commercial side, as it does for TNF.

If this was say even 10 years ago I wouldn't think it would be much of a delay in getting someone to take this. But, here is the problem. So many games now air outside the traditional Sunday afternoon windows and the popularity of NFL RedZone. And the price. It's overpriced for sure. I remember coworkers telling me about the RedZone channel and how they had dropped NFL Sunday Ticket because of it. Who knows what will happen but in my opinion, the NFL is not to get anyone to take the Sunday Ticket. The longer this goes on the less time for the new buyer to promote it. My guess is the NFL sells it with nobody buying the rights to it.

they can make it like the other sports and have it be on all systems lower price then it is now (maybe force you to buy it to get RedZone) and have an one team choice and one team + redzone

There is no way the NFL can get a streaming service going that quick, it took 3 years for Disney to get Plus going, including buying BAMtech in 2017, the streaming tech company that MLB created.

The cost involved would be too much for the NFL who prefers just licensing it out for the big payday.

My guess is they will just take the highest bidder, properly in the $1-1.5 Billion range.

But what if nobody bids on it?
