DTV gemini

I just figured it was thier way to get rid of old stock, probably got a bunch in a warehouse somewhere.
i bet they can't get rid of em fast enough even more so with the new 15.00 fee on top of the mirror fee for new accts on sat or streaming

Looks like it’s just gonna be the Osprey box for the Gemini, which eventually that and the Genie 2 might be the new installation setup going forward
it's a sinking ship why would they come out with something new when customers are leaving in droves??? and the 15.00 on top of the 7.00 mirror fee is really going to lure them back in :coco :shh not to mention there gonna need a new satellite in time

They are good on Sats for quite awhile yet, unless they Want a new set.

If Dish Network and DTV merge with Dish Network building and launching a new satellite, I wonder how many channels that new satellite could hold and they just use that one after the T16 runs out of fuel?

Someone here will know, kinda depends on how its configured ...
I don't have the info available to me at the moment, I was thinking when we looked into it, that the Sat D* had up was gonna last till 2030 at least.

with people fleeing left and right i wonder why they would even bother launching a new sat. unless charlie is gonna lease space off it also

I just signed up and got a gemini for no monthly fee. hs17 + 1 gemini. I think this is the setup all residential people should use. any other tvs, use an Apple TV with those and install the directv app. I think their apple app is better than their gemini app.

not worth a one year contract for the upgrade.. our HS-17 and 4k minis switch over to internets if the sat signal is to weak from storms!!! i am wondering if there using the gemini boxes as a way to get people over to streaming since sat is dying

if they don't want sat to die, there are a lot of ways to improve. first - costs. allow users to select the channels they want. the bundles include too many things people don't watch. the prices should change a lot - this would be a nice approach to find ways to be more competitive with streaming costs.

advertising/marketing should be centered around quality of directv picture + 4k vs streaming and cable. If buyers can see that the prices of all the services are similar, but that they get a better overall product with directv, I think they're onto something. for me, the biggest change was getting rid of Stream and Sat being different services. It's all called directv after this change (which the CS still don't seem to understand as they constantly refer to directv stream for streaming.) You just pick your flavor - streaming, internet (seems like its the same as satellite and has the 4k channels as coming soon), or sat.

They've got the app for devices, now they just gotta get the pricing and options down. The biggest cost suck is RSN fees, taxes, and box fees. If they could do away with the box fees for those that want them - that's a major win.

I was finally able to order the upgrade from my C61K-700 to the Gemini. It took multiple tries since the ordering system was down this afternoon. I got a call back from technical support that was able to complete my order. Surprisingly, enough when I check the status it shows shipped.

Why would it matter how many channels the new sat could hold. Charlie will black en all out:biggrin

If you are on sat and have a Gemini box, but decide to switch to stream at some point in the future, can you use that same Gemini box or do you have to play the game of getting new equip?

Nice. Do you know if you can have 2 Geminis for 2 TVs in your house? I have 2 TVs myself with a Genie HR44 + 1 C51 client box and I am not sure if you can either have 2 Geminis or it has to be only 1 Gemini and your other TVs need to have a streaming box like Roku, Apple TV, Fire TV, or Android TV

Yes you can have up to 7 Geminis (for satellite) active at the same time on HS17 and 3 on HR54. It’s the same rules as Genie clients.
