Amazon Prime Ad-Free

It is not available until April 10. You must have annual billing to Prime as a prerequisite. On April 10 or later go into your account and then manage subscription. You will have the opportunity to add Ultra for the annual price.
I really don't watch much of anything on Prime so I am probably just going to cancel the monthly ad-free at the end of this month and not subscribe to it all.

$2 a month increase is not a concern as I use Prime for shipping. On one order I can make that up easily.
It isn't an increase for Amazon Prime and has nothing to do with shipping. It is an increase for Amazon Prime Video ad-free service which was $2.99 and is going up to $4.99.

Based on that, I look at it as a $4.99 a month streaming service, the Prime yearly fee is well worth it for shipping, would have that even if no video options.

Like I said…I don't watch hardly anything on Prime so to spend that $45 or $60 per year on ad-free is a waste of money.

I ponder how much for the ad-free stuff is to pay for the ridiculous NFL Thursday Night football coverage contract.

Also, how much is in 4K on Prime anyway. I kind of like the 4K premium that gets added to no-ads, but how much 4K content is available other than Amazon's own material?

My renewal for ad-free came up today. I switched to annual billing. Supposed to be 23% less. Worth it for me as I watch quite a bit of Amazon content, most in 4K. Curious if there is more Dolby Atmos going forward.

I switched to annual billing of Friday. I noted that my credit card showed the transaction correctly. I also noted that I got a $1.83 return as well. Amazon gave back the remainder of the $2.99 that I had already paid on the monthly.

Well, I have had Annual all along ... I do not see any adjustment in my billing, as of yet.

I turned off the Ad Free option a few months ago ... haven't turned on to see if it happens to be Ad free, seeing it's after April 10th now.

Edit:
Yes I do have Ads currently , So, if they are giving you Ad Free, do you have to sign up for it or apply or what ?

If you look under Memberships & Subscriptions via web browser you should have an option to subscribe to Ad Free if you want it. Either monthly or annually. Don't think you can see this stuff via the Amazon app.

I found This:

So, it looks like they still want $5 p/m or $46 a year.

What is Prime Video Ultra ?
Is that just what they call it when you go Ad free ?

My membership will be renewing end of May I think.

Edit:
Key 2026 Changes: The ad-free tier was rebranded to "Prime Video Ultra" and now includes 4K, while standard ad-supported plans have lost 4K
