NFL draft

Didn't they say "NO WAY HE WILL....." and they drafted WR 3 drafts in a row??

Drafting a wide receiver (Johson) is absolutely the right thing to do this year because of his trade value. There is more then one team just itching to get this guy. If the Lions pass, he falls to Tampa Bay with the fourth pick. Why pass on Johnson if somebody else is willing to pay extra for him? Like I said earlier, if we don't trade him, there are worse things then being stuck with the best athlete in the draft. You heard it here first.

Mike Williams and Josh McCown???????????

I dont understand the Raiders. All this talk about wide recievers and quarterbacks is laughable. That offensive line is so bad that Art Shell couldnt straighten it out. AND what else do you bring him in for? WTF are you gonna do when its "HIKE!...one onethousand... two...KABOOM!" now someone scrape up the QB off the ground? They need two first round offensive lineman and as many others that they can get in later rounds. The QB they had last year never had a chance. He must have felt like a christian standing in the middle of a roman coliseium with 11 maneating lions charging at him at each snap of the ball. Next year is the year for WR and QB pipe dreams. You gotta learn to block first. But yet the talk is about WR's and QB's? :haha

WTF are talking about when it comes to Mike Williams and Josh McCown....they aren't even on the roster from the last time I saw.....please go back to the Pit before you make a fool of yourself in TWO FORUMS.....

Didn't you see post #10? Now there are rumors that Oakland is interested in Mike Williams and Josh McCown. I'll give you both for Randy Moss. (Of course I'm not the Lions GM, but I couldn't do a worse job than MIllen).

DETROIT LIONS - - - REBUILDING SINCE 1957!

Nope.....It will be JeMarcuss at #1 OR Calvin Johnson. I heard that since they have the 1st pick in the 2nd round, they have a keen interest in the QB from Stanford.

Mike Williams could head to Oakland

Monday, Apr 23, 2007 1:41 pm EDT

Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis, who is fond of USC athletes, having once coached at the school, could be preparing to enlist Mike Williams, the former Trojans receiver who is desirous of severing his association with the Detroit Lions.
Williams, a first-round selection in 2005, has withdrawn from the Detroit club's offseason conditioning program in the hope that the Lions will cut him and he could be reunited in Oakland with Lane Kiffin, who coached him at USC.

A lot of good Clavin will do them while their QB is laying on the turf. And JeMarcuss should refuse to play for them for his own safety. Its obvious that AL Davis is senile. The RAIDERS gave up 72 sacks last year and those two picks will not change that.

If the Raiders pick JeMarcuss the 30+ million in guarenteed money should be enough to persuade him to kiss the dirt.
I have no doubt they will take him or Johnson. But neither will improve the team this year. Jamarcus cant do anything sitting on his butt and Calvin is just swapping one great reciever for another who will get discouraged by the inept offense. At least with O line picks you could get a running game going and at least give the QB the luxury of throwing the ball standing up. Hell, no one knows what Walters could be, he never had a chance in Oakland. This reminds me of a Redskin regular season. Their solution to a bad Offense line is always to bench the QB. The defense game plan against the Raiders will remain the same this season. Blitz and meet at the QB. :haha

WOW...ALL this news MUST be edged in stone. UNTIL I see a trade....they are nothing BUT RUMORS...please remember to READ what I UNDERLINED/HIGHLIGHTED.....LOL THIS is something I dealt in before....don't believe EVERTHING you read when it comes to trade rumors.....;)

I hope the Raiders take Russell and I also see the Lions doing thier best to try and NOT pick Johnson, although I think they should take him and KEEP HIM.

The Lions also need an offensive line, but then they have needed that since I was a kid in the '60-70's, so nothing has changed in Detroit as far as the Lions go.

Jimbo

I think the Pats prove year after year that WR's are an over rated position in the NFL.

Teams tie up money in the top WRs and the value just isnt there for them.

Watch the Browns change up the draft and take Gaines Adams. I know everyone is quick to pencil a QB there but Romeo is a Defensive guy and having an end that can rush the passer and dominate has more value.

If Romeo doesnt win this year he is out so picking a guy such as Quinn who may be great down the road might not be so attractive.

They HAVE to take a QB. Your team is a prime example. ALL good teams trying to become great teams have one thing in common....a franchise QB. The Pats, Steelers, Colts, Eagles, Jets, Falcons, Saints....ALL those teams EXCEPT for the Steelers, were in the playoffs...and why didn't the Steelers make the playoffs..?
That's right...their FRANCHISE QB was injured MOST of the year. So to me, and most of the proof is in my favor, you ABSOLUTELY must have a franchise QB...JUST about everything else is more or less interchangeable.

Don't worry Salsa, the Raiders will have the 1st or 2nd pick in next years draft too. Lets just hope Jamarcus makes it through this year in one piece physically and emotionally.

I hope for Jamarcus's sake that the Radiers have the best Doctors money can buy. As much as he will be kissing the dirt he is going to need them.

All it takes is one bad hit and he will be done. (i.e. Culpeper)

Jimbo, I got to agree about the Lions very offensive line. I believe a football team is built from the inside out. Trading Johnson would bring more help to the Lions then adding another WR. Interesting that the teams drafting first and second lead their respective conferences in QB sacks allowed. Personnaly, my draft wishlisy would be Joe Thomas OT, Gaines Adams DE, Patrick Willis MLB. Any of these 3 can be had at a lower spot in the draft, with the addition of another pick or player. Any of the 3 go a longer way to addressing more important needs. Johnson is a very special player, but he will only touch the ball 5 - 7 times a game, and last time I checked Williams led the league in receiving yrds. and Furrey led the league in receptions. Throwing the ball wasn't a problem here, but scoring TDs when we were inside the 20, certainly was. No blocking, no running. The defense is a whole nother story. No pass rush, a hole at middle LB, and a secondary that has an opening left by the departed Dre Bly, the other corner manned by the forever injured Fernando Bryant. Come to think about it, how did we manage to even win 3 games last year?

I am not worried about the Raiders because they have enough draft picks to BOTH pick up some much needed help in the offensive line and defensive line. The is an EXTREMELY deep draft from how I have gathered. I think that ALL team will still be able to pick up very good players even in the 4th and 5th round.
