Too little, too late. Great season Red Wings!

Well so much for my hockey viewing for this season. Enjoy the finals, fellow posters. My love of hockey begins and ends with the winged wheels. It'll be interesting to see what changes Holland makes with the Wings. I suspect it won't be anything major.

Hey Paul and any other Wings fans,
Didn't the Wings get alot farther than ANYONE expected coming into the season and the playoffs as well.

I was happy to see them get past Calgary (1st round) anything past that was bonus for me this year.

That's something to be proud of. :D
I am just yanking your chain, my Penguins didn't make it out of the first round.

We have become spoiled here in Hockey Town. 15 straight winning seasons, I don't think there are many franchises in any sport that can claim that kind of success, not to mention the level of success (Stanley Cups, Presidents trophies). Wings want Hasek back, they probabily resign Bertuzzi (if the price is feasible). Hot prospect Grigorenko expected to be with the team next season, plus a couple of free agents. Wouldn't mind taking a run at Anahiem's goalie if Hasek retires. Lang probabily won't be resigned. Calder is also probabily gone. The future is still pretty bright around here.

Thanks Red Wings for a fine season!

Your Penguins are hapless, better hope your shining star never gets hurt !!!!
IF the pens came to the West, it would be a different story ...

Pretty good assesment there Paul .

Grigorenko, is he the defencemen weve been hearing about the last several years, got injured or something like that, from over in Europe ?

I sure enjoyed listening to Don Cherry during Intermission last night. For those of you who missed it, he basically tore into the Commissioner for implementing the Instigator Rule and removing fighting from the NHL. As stated in a recent Coaches Corner, "(Fighting) has been going on for 50 years . . . 100 years, A good friend of mine said 'Somebody's going to get killed in a fight,"' Cherry said. "Nobody's ever got killed in a fight, but guys have got killed blocking shots, so let's take blocking shots out."

Cherry said that arena seats were empty and NBC's ratings were low because someone decided to make the NHL "Family Friendly", which defies all logic. "American's watch NASCAR for crashes, they watch football to see who will kill the quarterback, and sports like Ultimate Fighting are more popular than ever."

Put the fighting back into Professional Hockey, please!!!

I love Don Cherry. Him and Mickey Redmond would be great doing a game together, although I don't know if they would actually commentate the game of just have a chat session while the game was on.

Back to the cup series, back on page 1 of this thread, I originally said Ducks over Sabres in the finals, but the play of my Red Wings had me believing again they would return to hoisting the cup. Alas, I was wrong on that one (but that's hockey). So I'm back to saying the Ducks in 6.

Btw, what did you guys think of the Alredsson slap shot "at" Niedermyer?

The series is over. The Ducks will win the next game and put the final nail in the coffin.

Its OVER

What a GREAT game last night. Really wanted the Ducks to lose, but its in the bag now. 100% chance they win the next game at home. Oh well. :(

I also enjoy Don Cherry very much.

Aldersson should be suspended for intentionally shooting the puck at another player (outside of the goalie).

Even when defensemen take shots from the blue line you often see them hesitate and find another route when it is obvious that the D is down to block the shot.

Aldersson 's play was definatly with intent, it would have been different had Niedermyer been anywhere close to being in line with the goal, but he was way wide and at the blue line (approx) and the shot went into the corner.

Totally uncalled for .
