Dish Network Retailer Chat Recap - July 10, 2007

By explicitly mentioning that DISH had the most soccer, you'd think they would have at least mentioned that Sentanta was coming "soon" adding even more soccer....

Maybe it's not coming.......again, same as last year.

You may be on to something. At the very least they probably do not have the final details of the agreement yet. Dish will never announce a channel if it's not a sure thing. Kstuart seemed pretty certain we would have it within the next few weeks.

...we'll see...

Any idea on which SAT all of these new HD channels will be located? 119, 110, 61.5 or solely on the dreaded 129?

Recently I had my installer take down 129 due to dropouts and installed an additional dish to pickup 61.5 which has been flawless so far. Also, any mention of what their plans are with 129/61.5 either? Why is 129 so flawed?

Look at the pictures Scott posted. It has the orbital positions. It's 61.5 and 129.

does this mean we are losing Discovery HD theater?

that was my original question based on another post. The answer is no. The use of the word mapdown in this case refers to the channel that appears in the guide with the SD channel. Once these changes are effective the mapdown for Discovery will be DISC HD. and it will bea simulcast of DISC. Discovery HD theater will continue.

I don't think that Dish feels that retailers need to be pushing Setanta Sports, as a niche channel, it will sell through word of mouth.
This is the perfect channel for Dish to sell to customers especially latino customers. This is one they will have retailers push and push hard. :)

Wow, lot's of cool stuff coming! Now, let the bitching begin, where's this channel, where's that channel. Come on let's get it over with. ;)

I would have been nice to have one new national channel tomorrow :) August 15 is a long ways away, though i'm sure all the sports fans who just got their RSDs are very happy. As for me, I watch all those newly announced channels a lot in SD (history, science, animal planet, etc), so it will be great to have them in HD, but I would have loved something new, like chiller or something that isn't just a clone of existing SD content. And what can I say, I'm a girl, so I'd like LMN in HD :) Hey, you asked :)

Look, I'm the king of skeptics when it comes to Setanta (going way back to last year about this time). We all know (kstuart no less than anyone else) that nothing's done with Dish until it's announced. We can try and rationalize all we want about why they didn't say anything but it's pure speculation (and wishful thinking). Also, as has been observed, uplinking doesn't mean carriage.

The above said, let's not go overboard the other way. Let's wait and see, at least for another few weeks. If nothing is announced by then it will be clear that we can't depend on Setanta being available on E*.

=NLK=

Scott, this is great news and a exciting time! Thanks Dish for giving us a better selection of HD channels! Just don't degrade the pq and were good! TLC and History channels this will be great, just hope they have some real HD content! :)

This should make a lot of people happy... and as far as complaints that will come...I will start them off :)

I actually dont watch any of those channels they are adding but in all fariness the only HD channels that I would like to have but are not supposed to go live until the spring I think and that would be SciFi and USA HD......I am sure E* will add them when they are avaialable so...I will smile more then :)

Way to go E*...

competition is a good thing

I didn't see any dates for Dish Online or Ext HD, but I'm hoping for August, but expecting September. You do know what once you start accumulating ext HD shows, that you'll be Dish's bitch forever? There will be no escape once you've built up dozens of saves favorite shows that can only be viewed with a valid activated Dish Network 622 or 722. I'm surprised that E* isn't giving this feature away for free. It will be like crack. But Charlie knows not to leave money on the table.

I just used DishOnline.com to hit my new replacement 622. Worked like a charm. I didn't have to wait on the phone. It seemed to me the programming hit was faster than if a CSR did it.

What are you talking about? I was under the impression that DishONLINE wasn't linked to our boxes yet?
