Scott's Rumor Confirmed: Seven New HD Nationals Coming to Dish in August/September

With the AT100, you'll probably only get History HD, MHD and The Learning Channel HD. You would need AT250 to get all seven that were announced.

You'll get MHD, Discovery HD, TLC HD, History HD (in September), and Animal Planet HD.

You need higher packages to get Golf/Versus and The Science Channel.

I'm looking forward to seeing History in HD; and am hoping that "The Universe" is available as a real HD show and not just an upconverted 16:9 framing.

Cheers,

I'm looking forward to History HD as well, however given their parent company, I'm not holding my breath for their HD content to actually be shown in HD very often.

Animal Planet is in the AT200 package, so you'll need the AT200 to get Animal Planet HD.

From a business point of view, they probably should add as few as possible new HD channels to the AT100 package.

Owning the North American distribution rights is pretty close to "ownership" as far as we in the U.S. are concerned.

Hmmm, rockinhard26- good luck to ya! Does XTV offer that? Probably too many people would freak (still) if Dish did that.

Yeah, XTV (AKA ITVN) offers it. I just have every paid channel dish offers and its all the same. Plus, they edit some of the content from the original film and its getting old to me. Did you notice my original comment was taken off of here? Guess someone reported me. How funny is that? LOL

Still no upgraded software today. :O(

The overall most popular SD channels are in the AT100 package. These are the channels that "most people" would want from cable. Yes, there are some other popular channels in the other two tiers, but not as many as the "staples" that are included in AT100.

I think that most of the channels in AT100 will have HD counterparts at some point, given the way that the channel providers are now doing it, a straight HD simulcast of the SD channel.

I didn't think anyone was that stupid anymore...

It depends on how they shot it. Most directors these days will shoot for 16:9, but keep the side edges safe for 4:3. A few will shoot like they did for masked film. Shoot 4:3 and keep the top and bottom safe for 16:9 masking.

Still no upgrade, I lost all hope. One can always dream and hope that one day you will have what others have. As for that day coming true, it probably will never. Its the story of my life people actually. I hope everyone enjoys the new things. Something like this, may seem small to others, but its not small to me.

If you want to chat, or have any questions, etc... you could always send a message my way. Goodbye everyone and it was a pleasure.

I'm getting the channels now! Guide for all of them shows Off Air at the moment, but I suspect that will change with the next update for me.

Mythbusters HD + Survivorman HD = :hungry:

Well..... I recognize the MTV channel, the other Discovery, TLC, science channel, and animal planet. That makes 5. So... there are 2 more to go, right?

Yes, nice!

The music HD at first glance is not 'close' to RAVEs quality as at times it's really brilliant looking at fingerprints on a piano finish or a guitar surface

but it's hella better than MTV

oh wait, that would entail music and MTV gave up music videos a long time ago , lol
It's a friggin' reality channel now
