The guy came out, looked at the receiver and the issue happened while he was there. He said he never saw that before and said the it was bad. Directv is sending out a new one...I'll keep you updated.

I called DirecTV, they are sending out a repairman, they think it is the signal (only about 78-80%) strength. I don't know if that is going to fix it, but if the signal strength is the cause...who knows. I don't get the issues on any other receiver in the house.

All- I have the new dish and the H20 HD receiver. But lately, I have been having issues, MAJOR issues. From time to time, the screen (on every channel, HD or no) starts to "flicker" and is brighter and darker in horizonatal lines. This goes on for a while until the screen goes black with red...

I didn't call any "special" number. but te agent on the phone said $99 and I said "I thought it was free for existing HD customers". He said, "oh yeah, I see that rate on the bottom of my page, sorry."...it was free install, 2 year commitment...AND, it has been working GREAT for me ever since.

P.S.S The SOny RM-AX4000 also has Tivo functionality.

Pardon me if I haven't been paying attention lately, but the Best Buy ad here has an HD receiver for sale and the fine print says : "Requires a 5-LNB dish". Is this now available in Detroit? Should I call DirecTV and have them upgrade my HD receiver and dish (its free, right) for MPEG-4?
