I had cydia apps on my old 3g and used aptbackup. I got a 3G S and jailbroke and ran aptbackup and all but one of my jailbroke apps came back.

Just do not upgrade until the developers release an upgraded jailbreak. You just have to be patient.

So when do you think 3.0 will be available, tonight midnight or sometime tomorrow?
