    I'm a dish customer. I would wait and see what everybody says about the 5 tuner box and if it's good make the switch. If I didn't have another year on my contract that's what I would do.

    Why would Dish ever hold off selling a DVR because a software update is coming. By that logic isn't a DVR software update always coming? So you should you just just never sell any them ever, right? I could maybe understand if the current software is unusable. The 922 is very stable though...

    Is the 922 mostly stable now?

    I have a 622 and a 922. I would say as far as recording shows and watching them afterwards they are equal. I wouldn't use the word reliable for the sling part of the 922. I also have very rarely tried to record a 3rd show at a time and never a 4th show using the OTA module.

    Remote device dedicated to playing sling on the TV?

    I'm pretty sure the sling catcher is discontinued. They have a Sling Receiver, but I'm pretty sure it's vaporware. Yeah the decision to go to flash was the worst thing they could have done. The one thing apple and MS fan-boys can all agree on is that flash is horrible.

    So can 2 813s share recordings with each other? I assume they wouldn't share scheduling data. That would be too good. So the 922 and 813 can't share anything outside of swapping an external drive?

    The sling windows app will work, if you get a really old version and are OK with everything being 4:3 and in standard def.

    I don't have an answer. I was thinking if I ever get 2 external hard drives for this purpose, I wonder if you could use cloning software to clone the drive so you would have a backup. Then you could reformat one just to try it or if one went bad, you would still have everything. Maybe some...
