    Blocking Unwanted Channels

I've experienced this issue personally. A quick search of tivocommunity turned up this example. http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?t=263657 There are other threads on the topic if anyone is interested.

    Blocking Unwanted Channels

I think Hogarth's solution is a temporary one. Channels will come back occassionaly and start appearing again. It's a feature/defect in the way DirecTivos work. Another route is to add channels to a favorites list and set your channel guide to use that favorites list. The downside is that...

Cable companies will expire your Six Feet Under recordings after 2-4 weeks

Wasn't there an interview recently where a TiVo executive talked about upcoming features including using Macrovision to expire some programming? I remember this person saying that the Macrovision feature was only going to be used for PPV and VOD programming and they would fight any other use...

    DTV HD receiver

It's not specific to your model. My HR10-250s do the same thing. I've learned that removing the Sunday Ticket channels is futile. They're back in less than a week. I think this happens when DirecTV moves channels around to different satellites (or maybe even just different transponders)...

Adding a OTA ant. to my setup

I see from your signature that you have an HD TiVo. Be aware that HD TiVos can't control a rotator. Consider installing two (or more if needed) antennas if you can't receive all channels simultaneously from one antenna. Broadcasts in my state come from two different directions and I'm not...

HD10-250 remote -- any UHF capability?

HD-TiVos don't have a mechanism for receiving UHF signals from a remote but you can get a remote that uses an RF basestation. I use a Home Theater Master MX-800 with my HD TiVos and it works fine.

    Nbchd Is On!!!

NBC-HD was not activated automatically for me either. I live in Old Saybrook, CT which is not in Fairfield county. I called DirecTV and after half an hour on hold and one transfer to a different department they activated NBCE for me. It was quite painless other that a 30 minute hold. I...

    Nbchd Is On!!!

I checked this morning and the channels were in my guides but there was a banner to call some number for activation. This was around 8:30. I'm in the Hartford, CT. DMA with WVIT 30 as my local affiliate. They are in the list of NBC owned. Does this mean something got dropped at DirecTV and...

    BREAKING NEWS: NBC-HD East/West

DirecTV won't be broadcasting your local NBC. It'll be NY & LA. As long as your local affiliate is owned by NBC you'll get these broadcasts. If it's not you can try for a waiver which will probably be denied, or you can 'move'. It won't be until the Spaceway satellites go up next year that...

LongHornXP NEW HD on D Thread!

If you don't have luck playing CSR roulette use the online system. Turn off the HD package, save, turn it on. That's what I did and I've been a customer for a few years.

    "Moving" question

They really don't seem to care about "moving". My Summer house was located in NY's market area a few years ago. I moved back home as soon as my locals went live. They gave me no trouble with either move. I don't think there is any benefit to them in trying to detect this practice. DirecTV...

Is there anyplace on the web where they make this statement? I'm not questioning you, but never heard this before and it sounds quite interesting. He runs off to find out what DMA # Hartford, CT is.... :)
