Any chance more space added for RSN's on Wednesday??

And actually, I would expect the executive response team to have information on this so that they can communicate effectively and intelligently with their customers. If I email ceo@dishnetwork.com I would expect those people to have all sorts of information at their disposal.

wow...

I do like how you completely ignored and blew off Scotts response tho!

I could be wrong, but I don't think the fine members of the Dish Response Team would consider themselves as 'executives'...

Not to be argumentative, but I don't see how. Scott's response was to say these people don't know. My response to that was that if I email "ceo@dishnetwork" they sure as $#%& *should* know. Was there something else that I missed?

The guys I've corresponded with via email when I've emailed "ceo@dishnetwork.com" have signed their names and put "Executive Communications" underneath it. Nowhere did i say they were executives, but I *did* say they were on the executive response team, meaning that THEY RESPOND AND COMMUNICATE ON BEHALF OF EXECUTIVES.

Why is everyone nitpicking the things I'm saying and ignoring the larger issue? The is a Dish forum. Fine. I get it. But does that mean that I cannot try to get valid answers to my questions as well as complain publicly so that Dish will hear it?

Thanks, Iceberg. That is good info to know. I've asked the Dish Twitter folks about this specifically. We'll see what they say.

Do you think that the folks who answer ceo@dishnetwork email sit outside Charlies office?

These are folks who have been very good CSR's for years who have a little more freedom in what they can do then a normal CSR. But they are not sitting out in front of Charlie office looking for answers. :) The people answering those emails are the folks who have shown the desire to go the extra mile to help DISH Network customers get the best from their service.

Hell sometimes when I talk to Charlie I tell him things going on at his company that he didn't know was going on and hes the CEO of the company.

DISH Network is a HUGE company and different divisions are spread around the country. And those divisions are all working on different parts of the operation.

You asked:
Can we get a Dish rep to respond to this thread? I'd love to know the reasoning. I feel sick knowing that I've committed to a 2-year contract and cannot even get the Texas Rangers games in HD. What a fool I was to re-up with Dish. I am going to be kicking myself every day of the baseball season. I'd been with Dish for a decade and decided to stay with what I knew when I upgraded to HD. Big mistake. I feel so stupid.

I took this to mean the Dish employees that regularly contribute here.

Scott replied:
Honestly they are not answering because they don't know the answer. This type of thing is not handled by them or in the building where they work.

DISH is playing this one very close to their chest.

I took this to mean that Scott was referring to the same Dish employees that regularly contribute here.

I'm not trying to minimize the issue, I've been vocal about it here as well.

I can't speak to your RSN, but at least for mine (NESN) it hasn't been as bad as you're making it out to be. Last year, I can only remember about 3 instances out of about 80 or so games I watched that were not in HD.

Do I think that's acceptable?? No
Do I think the RSNs should be full-time HD?? Definitely
Do I regret the fact that I'm in a contract because of it?? No

Understood, Scott. But they present themselves as speaking for the Executive Team. That's how I take it. And my experience with them has generally been very good. I've got no issues with the people in this group. When I've dealt with them in the past they've been helpful and professional.

At this point, I'm just trying to get some answers. Heck, I'd even settle for an apology. For what? Well, for being deceiver. At least as I see it. Can anyone honestly say that the way they present the regional sports networks as being on HD is not misleading and deceptive? Keep in mind, not everyone pours over internet message boards. Like I said, I feel like I've "been had". If I can't watch my baseball team play in HD then I've really made a horrible mistake that I'm going to have to live with for another 20 months or so. :-( I'm not trying to take it out on anyone here or at any poor CSR. But I *do* want some answers.

I would be surprised to learn Dish doesn't get a discount for carry these channels part time. These channels don't care how you broadcast. So I don't think money has anything to do with it.

David, are you by any chance related to JosephB? The similarities are scary.

As far as I understand it Dish pays the same if they carry the hd rsn's part time, full time or not at all. The hd feeds are included in the contract with the sd version of the channel.

I am surprised at the people who are shocked about the rsn networks on dish. I have been a dish customer for over 12 years and rsn's have never been a priority for them. And here in 20111 it appears that nothing has changed in that regard.

As a SD subscriber it didn't occur to to even question whether fsn would be full-time hd or not. What average consumer would think to ask that? As I said earlier, this knowledge came too late. I'm stuck watching SD baseball on a 55" HDTV for 2 years. :-(

To me, it's no longer an issue of "if you want HD sports, go to DirecTv." To me, the issue is it's 2011 and all major league baseball games produced in HD should be broadcast in HD on Dish.

It's not like this is some fringe sporting event, it's Major League Baseball.

This problem was understandable in 2007 and maybe even 2008.

Perfectly said.

No use hoping, I already got Directv up and running
Clearly the best approach. Dish is going to do whatever they feel like doing. I was a "loyal subscriber" from 1996 until October of 2008. I left for Direct to get NESN HD 24x7. My contract with Direct is done and still no fulltime HD on Dish. 2 years for Dish to get in gear for fulltime HD RSNs and no movement? I wouldn't look for it to happen. You need to choose your provider based on what you want to watch for programming, not much else matters in the end.

At this point, I would be happy to have my RSN in even part-time HD. MASN HD has been available for over 2 years, and Dish doesn't show any of their HD games.

Just be glad your MLB team doesn't play on the west coast all the time. The guide will tell you that your local MLB is in HD but what happens is that it won't be in HD until another particular east coast game is done with their game first. Heaven forbid that east coast game goes long because of a rain delay or goes into extra innings. I've seen HD telecast not start until bottom half of the 6th inning. Sometimes you may get a warning when you see JIP in the guide for your HD RSN but often times, it doesn't matter and will happen anyways even without the JIP in the guide. The other problem this creates is that if set up a timer to record these games (like I do) is that receiver(622) will record the HD slate "CHECK BACK OFTEN..." because the other game is still in progress. Then when the other game is finally over sometimes it will continue to record the HD slate (but with no music) instead of switching over to my local MLB team in HD. The only way to fix this is to go to another channel and then go back to my HD RSN channel, which is sometime that can't be done when its being recorded. I come home expecting to watch my team only to fast forward 4 hrs of video with nothing but the HD slate...and then the curse words start flying from my mouth.

I've already contacted adv. tech support with this issue several times the last few seasons and since it doesn't happen all time, its hard to recreate.

Much of this baseball HD RSN mess could easily be fixed if they would just use some the HD-PPVs transponder space for HD-RSNs. April is also the worst month for HD-RSN space since not only do you have MLB baseball, but NBA basketball & NHL hockey too for most of the month. Expect problems!!
