Say I upgrade to the iOS11 on my 6+ to use the watch3. Then in November I get the X. Can I reverse the iOS back to 10.3.3 on my 6+ and if so, then tether it to my X so some older apps can still run?

Can I reverse the iOS back to 10.3.3
Apple stops "signing" their software on new installs but I don't know the timeframe. Heck, Apple may release a 10.3.4 yet which would buy you some time.

Anyway, if they're still signing it, yes, you can restore an older version of iOS. First, you have to manually download it to a computer (with iTunes). I have downloaded from here, Download iOS Firmware for iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Apple Watch and Apple TV., many times with no issues. Then, open iTunes and go to the screen where it allows you to update, restore, etc. If you are using a Windows machine, hold down the left shift key and click "Restore". On a Mac, hold down the Option key and click "Restore". It will let you browse for the IPSW file you have downloaded and go from there....

Thanks! I usually have a backup of our iphones on my wife's iMac which is easier than using my PC. I will do a fresh backup of the 6+ before doing the iOS 11 upgrade. I think it goes off beta next week before the watches begin shipping.

Still waiting for Dropbox to release it's upgrade so that it works natively in the Files app, instead of as a pop-up window. I've seen screenshots from the Dropbox blog, but guessing they will wait to release it until iOS 11 is "official."

Still no software update on my iPhone . Did Apple pull it ?

If you don't want to wait for the software update to roll out to your device you can manually request it. Go to Settings>General>Software Update. Once you do this it will check for the update and give you the option to request it.

I just got done installing it on my iPhone 6. The download itself took about 5 minutes but the install took much longer than that. Fair warning, the installation process took my battery life from around 75% down to 48%. If you are counting on your battery to make it through the day you might want to wait until you have a charging source available before installing the update.

Yeah, it looks very good and I’ve not run into issues yet. But it is missing the cloud based iMessage I was looking for. Guesstimate for that is sometime this fall.

Attempting to scroll through the widgets is frustrating. The underlying app keeps starting. On the iPad I liked the dual column layout better.

My battery went from 88% to 36% in less than 2 hours of modest use. I’ve done a reboot twice but it looks like it may take a day or two to settle down.

As always, iOS will have to rebuild the index which will suck down the battery until it's finished.

Since my iPhone is my daily driver, I'm waiting a couple of days for the pioneers to pull the arrows out of their backs and report in. My ?TV is another matter, though. I'm downloading the tvOS as I type!

I’m fine with the way it looks but I’m having a little trouble with messages on both my iPhone and iPad. I messaged a friend through iMessage shortly after updating my iPhone this afternoon. I thought they didn’t reply but when I got home from work several hours later I saw that I had a new iMessage from them on my iPad time stamped just after I messaged them. Their reply to that message still doesn’t show in the iPhone app but messages sent from both of us since then are showing properly on both devices.

I am also in a group chat with my fantasy football league. These messages are SMS because a few members have android phones. Normally my iPad gets all of these group SMS messages synced into its message app from my iPhone. That is still working for most messages since updating both devices but I do have several random messages missing on the iPad that do show up in the same conversation on my iPhone. I say random because there are 3 missing messages in total out of 16 that I received but the missing messages are mixed in between messages I did receive.

I’m not used to ever seeing missed messages on either my iPhone or iPad so it’s a bit concerning to have missing messages on both devices the very first day of the update. Hopefully it’s something to do with the background update processing and not a widespread issue.
