You do not indicate if welding by gas or electric. If by electric, be forewarned that that electronic sensors and devices do not like currents floating about! (Found out hard way when fried a solid state glow plug controller on diesel pu.) Was doing small electric welding on back bumper. It prob...

    Interesting Satellites?

The most unusual I ever came across was during the early 90's while running thru c band about 2AM. It was a embalming class with male cadaver on the slab. The "donor" was covered up but his tongue was sticking out of his mouth about 4 inches! Did not know weather to laugh or gag. think I have a...

I am so confused on what type of antenna I need.

Groze, My response to your question would be. Do you have access to the attic? Would you consider building you own antennas or just buy? Do you like to experiment? If so you can inexpensively build 3 or 4 antennas, each with its own coax-pointing in the directions of the towers you want to...

    What's a good antenna?

I built a 4 element and propped it up beside tv in living room. It was not even in the direction of transmitters which were 40+ miles away. Was suprised that it did receive. Then put antenna at patio door in approximate direction of transmitters and ran scan again. It pulled all of Austin Tx...

    SG2100 Hardware Sizes

My 2 pennies: Stainless is good, but expensive. A "good" hardware store will carry "anodized" bolts, nuts and washers. They are a lot less expensive than stainless (just little more than zinc )and hold up quite well. Tom

Gremlin: Your dish appears to be the primestar 40x43 with offset feed with R11 coax! I have that dish and having trouble finding flange mount lnb as replacement. It looks as you used a direct (flangeless type 40MM lnb. Would you share what lnb type you are using , and success ? Thanks

    Big Dish's

Big Dish! Has anyone had the opportunity to drive thru what I call the "valley of the dishes" in southwestern New Mexico? The dishes are mounted on several sets of railroad type tracks. The area has mountains all around as so is protected from ti. Must be 30 or more dishes and do not know...

    Support Pole Woe's

TO RV1POP Concerning buried cable lines It has been my experience, necessary to enclose buried cable in some sort of pvc or dvw type protection. The ground critters seem to get their jollies nibbling on the shielding, therefore degrading signal. Tom

    Support Pole Woe's

Had a paraclipse that was given to me, took it down and re-installed by myself using pickup (to pull), 2- 60 foot ropes strung thru nearby trees. I have this old primestar reflector, but thought they were a different size and round It also is an offset with a Lnb throat of about 1 and 1/2 inch, a plastic collar that ties all 3 supports together. Is this a commercial dish or what is called a 1 meter dish here? Will the new Techsat...

    So I bought a Skystar 2

Glad to find this thread as Skystar 2 coming from Vesalia Computer (someone wanted to know where to get). Do not know what version it is. Uncertain whether to use a 3' primestar on a portable mount or the 10' mesh that "may" be sprung out of alignment. It has only a c-band lnb. So, should I...

Replacing our 1.8 Meter Dish Spinnaker

We tend to underestimate the forces of wind, especially on a solid object. I made a kite for the kids (when bit younger) and decided to make a "big" one with alum tubing. After constructing in the garage took it outside. It promptly started to wool me around and about took me off my feet...
