    Another Openbox S9 problem

Had a similar switching problem. Turned out to be a corroded connector in the line to the dish. Too much voltage drop in the line. Voltage at the lnb was too low to switch polarities.

    Openbox polarity switching

Thanks all for the help. Just needed a push in the right direction. Turned out to be a bad port on my new diseqc switch. When I checked the voltage out of the switch, I saw the problem. Just switched the cable to another port and all is well in the c-band world. Is it...

    LPB Last Night

The LPB feeds were great until about the time the Britcoms came on. Then I had a picture, but it was all jumbled, totally useless. Switched over to Montana for by weekly Britcom fix. A dedicated dish for AMC 21 works well for me. With a 1m dish, you have to be exactly spot on, and I couldn't...

What was in BUD is not there now. . . .

Just a note. If you do decide to change the battery, be sure you connect the new battery before you cut the old one loose. Disconnecting the battery is a sure way to make a brick.

    DSR 922

In the clear, unscrambled. You can watch without a subscription. This is what I use my 4DTV for. It also makes a great dish mover for the C-band FTA signals

Thanks, that is what I will do.

    Openbox polarity switching

I thought I had read through the recent post, but I missed the one just below by jscud and his Primestar polarity problems. Although my situation is different, I do use a diplexer for my ota antenna and this c-band feed. I'll give that a look.

    Openbox polarity switching

My openbox s9 is not switching between the horizontal and vertical polarities, scanning the vertical transponders twice, once calling them H and the next time calling them V. I have two lnbs connected, one ku (which works properly), and this c-band which will not switch. I can manually add the...

    openbox s9 firmware june 21 2011

Very interesting. This morning I had the same as the night before and I decided to to a little checking. I found that the power supply for the hdmi splitter would completely power the receiver, similar to yours except the hdmi port, and vice versa. I disconnected the power to the hdmi...

    125 West AMC21

From my experience, there are differences between receivers. I have an Openbox s9 and a pansat 9200 connected to the same dish, using a dual .2 lnb and separate feeds from the dish to the receivers. The open box is very happy with Montana, LPB and OETA and well as the other PBS channels ( I do...

    openbox s9 firmware june 21 2011

Am I correct in assuming that none of the updates have corrected the clock/timer issue? I have recently run into a very interesting issue with the s9 clock. To the best of my knowledge, the clock on the front panel has never worked, and the timer would only record one event, then shut...

    Montana PBS on Pansat 9200

Andrew, From what I read about your receiver, it will not receive the DVB-S2 channels. That means that you cannot receive Montana, Oklahoma or Louisiana, but you should be able to get the national PBS channels on V-12180. This is a fairly strong transponder, and if you cannot get channels on...

    Dish elevation angle (again?)

Sorry, I missed that point of no numbers on the scale. Of course you are right. My point was that this is not rocket science, and by using a little trial and error, the satellite arc can be located even if you do not know what the elevation setting should be.

    Dish elevation angle (again?)

From my experience over the past 20 years or so, I have found that it is not really necessary to know the exact elevation setting, and the setting on the small dishes that I have had experience with are at best an approximation. Setting up a movable dish, I would set the actuator to 0 deg...

    Closed Captions on Openbox S9

Many thanks, info like this pretty much lays the issue to rest. I am primarily interested in the PBS channels, and my Pansat 9200 will display the CC with no problem through the composite output (wondered why CC didn't work with the hdmi connected tv), but the Openbox will not. Was hoping...

    Closed Captions on Openbox S9

Thanks for the reply. I hadn't considered the difference between the analog signal and the digital stream. I have both options, but it is the analog output that I am most interested in. I bought one of the hdmi to S-video converters, so I can possibly try the digital output and see if that...

Has anyone successfully made the Closed Caption function work on the Openbox S9?

    OPENBOX S9 Setup Procedures

Interesting post, thanks. I never could figure out how to get the Longitude setting to go from E to W, but since I was only concerned with one satellite I set it up manually and left the setting on East. I thought it was just a problem with my box. I also couldn't figure out how to use that...

using openbox s9 for recording help

I thought the hard drive might be your problem, but it is good to see that that is not it. My hd was formated to NTFS, and I left it that way. I connected the 4dtv receiver to the fta receiver as a slave using a coupler that would not pass the DC Lnb voltage. If I have the FTA receiver set to...

using openbox s9 for recording help

Chad, I've done a fair amount of recording/playback with my Openbox and I have never had it lock up under any circumstances. Sadly the same thing cannot be said for my Pansat.

    Openbox green issue fixed?

I am using the 480i output on an older 50" rear projection tube type tv, and I found that on some channels, I could completely remove the green tint by playing with these controls. I did it with slightly different settings from the ones listed here, but I suppose that would vary from tv to tv...

    Montana PBS on Pansat 9200

Just to close out this topic, I installed the dual lnb this weekend on my 125W dish, and tweaked to dish slightly so that I got the highest Q I could possibly get for 12105V (montanaPBS) on the Openbox, and I was able to get a very nice picture that would only occasionally lock up for a second...

    DMX741 and Polarity

This is also a long shot, so I will keep it short. Do you still have the TRX80 connected to the lnb, possibly through a splitter or as a daisy chain? This same thing happened to me on my Pansat 3500 and my DSR 920. Sorry just read your new post. Congratulations on getting it working!

    c band satellite

I find C-band to be full of interesting things, not the least of which are the NASA feeds.
