Fortec 1.2m offset dish focal length discrepancy

Thanks FaT Air. That would explain the discrepancy. Still curious as to why it's measured this way but I will go back to the store and measure from the LNB to the lower lip, I suspect it will come in close to the published FL.

Fortec 1.2m offset dish focal length discrepancy

A local sat supply store has a Fortec 1.2m offset dish that I want to use for Ham Radio moonbounce experiments. When I measured the focal length of the display unit it comes up close to 90cm however the datasheet says it should be around 72 cm. My calculation based on the formula FL=(width...

    Wanted: Houston Tracker IV

I wouldn't have a problem fixing a V-box if it''s just bad soldering (typical Chinese quality). If it dies from a blown micro or other unique IC then that's a different story. Sticum, can you send me a few pix of your Tracker 4 ? Is it the full integrated receiver or just the controller like...

    Wanted: Houston Tracker IV

I only see V-box 2's and 5's on eBay right now. Will they all do what I want or should I be looking specifically for a V-box 3 ? If I only want a 3, who else carries them ?

    Wanted: Houston Tracker IV

Excellent ! But then I'm still curious to know what "P20" is on the display in the picture (referenced by the link).

    Wanted: Houston Tracker IV

Thanks for the pix...very helpful ! I could probably modify one of these to supply 24v instead of 36v to the actuator. I assume the connections on the back are for actuator and pulse input !? F connectors probably set polarity !? So it counts pulses but does the display show the actual pulse...

    Wanted: Houston Tracker IV

So then it seems there are standalone Houston Tracker controllers and Houston Tracker receivers (which may incorporate a controller), some with the same model number. That's nasty. 14 Karat, I'd be interested to see a picture of your "Tracker 4" if you can post one. I looked at the V-box...

    Wanted: Houston Tracker IV

I saw the HT3 on eBay but I can't find any info on that unit. The HT2 is apparently similar to my HT1 which I suspect does not count pulses for position indication. I didn't realize the HT4 was also an IRD. Does yours look like this ? (Aluminum box on the bottom is not part of it.)

    Wanted: Houston Tracker IV

Why a Houston Tracker 4 ? The Houston Tracker 4 is ideal for my application (ham radio moonbounce). I just want a standalone pulse feedback type controller with 3 or 4 digit position display and relay controlled actuator voltage outputs. I don't need a full receiver/controller (which is why I...

    Wanted: Houston Tracker IV

Anyone have a Houston Tracker 4 that you'd like to sell ?

    Houston Tracker I manual ?

Anyone know if the V-box can be made to work with a 24v actuator ? The ads that I've seen all state that it works with a 36v actuator.

    Houston Tracker I manual ?

I was hoping to find a compact standalone box to move the actuator and provide a position readout. I guess I'll gut the associated parts from the Toshiba receiver that I already have and put it into a smaller box. Thanks.

Toshiba TRX-80 w/ Video Cipher RS

I recently acquired a Toshiba TRX-80 receiver in a BUD deal for a non-TV related project. It has a blue General Instruments Video Cipher RS "descrambler module" (model VCRS MOM) plugged into the back of it. Is this useful/ worth anything or is it old school analog technology that's no longer...

    Houston Tracker I manual ?

After probing around with this Houston Tracker I it would appear that the position readout wants to see a voltage from a potentiometer as opposed to being a pulse counter. Does anyone know if the latter models of HTs (3,4,5 ...) use the pulse counter method ? Thanks.

    winegard sizes

Replacement mesh I just acquired the same dish (in pieces) with similar damage to some of the mesh. I'd like to replace the damaged pieces. Where can I buy some from ? BTW, can anyone verify the specs for this dish ? Dia = 90", depth = 16", focal length = 31.6", f/d=0.35 Thanks.

    Houston Tracker I manual ?

Thanks Hotdog ! So the position is determined by a voltage divider potentiometer ? No pulse counter in these Houston Trackers ? The actuator I am planning on using has a reed relay output that gives xx pulses per inch of travel. It has limit switches built-in. Maybe this HT isn't what I...

    Houston Tracker I manual ?

I'll take a scan of your Tracker II manual there Hotdog. I realize that newer IRDs have the control functionality built-in but I really don't need an IRD. I just need the controller to allow me to move the dish for Ham Radio moonbounce ("EME") operation. I was going to build one using a...

    Houston Tracker I manual ?

Okay, so basically just a simple LNB polarity switch.

    Houston Tracker I manual ?

The box has 2 inline Molex type connectors on the back. One is 4 pin, the other is 3. See attached pictures. I would image 2 wires are for the actuator motor, 2 for the pulse reed relay then 3 others ?? I'd be interested to know what the V and H buttons do as well. And how do you zero or...

    Houston Tracker I manual ?

It would be a shame to have to throw it away just because it's easier to get a manual for a newer model. I'll ring it out if I have to... a manual would have been helpful.

Looking for a scanned manual for the subject unit. I'll settle for the pinout of the connectors. Anyone ? Thanks !

    Pulse counter for actuator ?

Does such a thing as a manual up/down pulse counter exist for those of us who want a standalone actuator position indicator ? I thought about using a micro + LCD or even discrete counter chips + 7 segment LEDs to do it but I don't want to reinvent the wheel if it's already been done. Anyone ?

    Actuator needed... Toronto-West/ GTA

I need a new 24" actuator. Any good deals for this stuff in the West Greater Toronto Area (Mississauga - Hamilton corridor) ? Will also consider a good used one. 24V, 24" medium to heavy duty. Thanks.

    Winegard mounting pole

I just acquired a 7 (7.5 ?) foot Winegard dish that I want to use for seasonal Ham Radio moonbounce operation. It came with the mount but not the mast/pole. I measured the ID of the mounting cup and it's slightly over 4.5 inches. Where would I go to get an 8 foot long by 4.5" OD pipe ? I'd...
