Thanks for the info. Might upgrade to the top 120 package in the near future....only loss from the Family package is Hallmark....you have to go to top 200 for that. Funny how that's a basic channel on Directv and most cable providers but is high tier on Dish.

I hated it too, but at least it gave us DishFAMILY subscribers another channel. Not that it really was one, but they yanked it and didn't even give us Cartoon Network, or anything new. It was blacked out immediately. Pretty disappointing. All we got was Dish Earth. Wow..

Good sum-up. I am sort of pissed, as a new Dish Family subscriber we already lose a channel (that I was expecting to go away anyway), and probably won't be getting any sort of replacement. Bummer. IMO, we ought to get a half-decent channel to replace it. JMO.

I think the poster that said Comcast doesn't offer WGN is incorrect....maybe just not in some markets. My brother in Charleston, SC (who Comcast serves) says he gets it on basic and actually it's even on limited basic. As for cost, for the thing to be on limited basic I would think it's cheap...

I stand corrected. I am not totally positive, but I am pretty sure Cox, Charter (this I'm sure of), and Time Warner offer WGN on their basic packages. My small town-local cable company even does....odd that Comcast does not offer it.

WGN is on virtually every BASIC cable package (and of course expanded basic) and is on DirecTV's basic. I don't understand why Dish keeps it on such a high-tier. I am pretty sure it's cheap....certainly cheaper than some of the stuff on there (Family). Ha....and Investigation Discovery, FLN, etc.

Family is already loaded with religious channels.. What about WGN America? I know that is probably dirt cheap and it's way better than ION ever would be. As a (brand new) DishFamily subscriber, I would like to see another channel added to make up for this loss. Another question - were...
