    Hughsnet dish

It's been a while since I set up my system, so I'm uncertain if what I am doing is feasible. I'm trying to help a friend set up...he has 30" elliptical Hughesnet dish with a directway lnb. I have no specs on the lnb, but I'm wondering if this dish and lnb can be used for Ku band? any help or...

    motor puzzler

ya, thanks tubo- I'm 60 now...when I was in my 30's -50's I used to rock and ice climb. a snowy roof posed no problem to me...I've climbed 3,000 vertical walls...covered with black ice...but the very thought of it makes my old arthritic bones cry out for an electric blanket!!!! I'll figure this...

    motor puzzler

correction: the coolsat is NOT moving the motor either.... I thought it was, but afer checking it out more carefully I've discovered that it isn't doing anything automatically either. as far as going up on the roof goes, it's 30 ft. up a ladder and on to a snowing roof...I'll have to do what I...

    motor puzzler

thanks Radar- I've tried these easy fixes and still no auto movement. what puzzles me most is that the Coolsat will move the dish from one satellite to another, and both the Viewsats won't. there's a glitch here somewhere...I haven't a clue where to go from here. I've even tried disconnecting...

    motor puzzler

thanks... this is an operation that I have to perform at the motor? It'll have to wait til better weather... or is this something I do at the receiver?? thanks tho... (I'm certain Ihave the correct data entered for usals) ~Q

    motor puzzler

I have a Viewsat Ultra. While rescanning a couple satellites, the ability for the receiver to automatically move the motor from one satellite to another has been lost. I can, however, move the motor one "click" at a time...so the motor is not fried. I also replaced the Ultra with a Coolsat 4000...

    quad lnb

thanks for the replies, how about using two combination c/ku lnbs? my dish is two story rooftop, I've a 1600' hill to the south of me so I have to use the height of my house to get any signal. I'm 60 and the thought of trying to get a 6' dish up a 32' ladder is a little prohibitive....

    quad lnb

does anyone know of a quad output lnb (2 for Ku, 2 for C band)?? I have an Invacom qph-031, but would like to try getting the stronger cband signals...I have 40" dish and motor..... thanks ~Q

    63w

thanks Jim and all.... I've had signal problems with this sat, too.... I'm in central NH, on the north side of a 1600' in elevation hill... most of the extreme east or west birds are hard for me to get... not sure why this one literally dropped out of sight to me, maybe I just have to try...

I've been watching PBS on Estrela do sul 63 w. But lately I've not been receiving any signal quality from this satellite. I tried moving the dish east and west a bit from the setting for it, but I'm not having any luck. does anyone know the status of this bird? thanks ~Q

    Viewsat Ultra glitch

thanks turbosat- the problem exsists even with a new added satellite with no transponders listed yet. I found the method for saving settings to usb, think I'll try that. here's the procedure, for any one interested: How To save Channel info & Sat info from receiver to USB How To: Insert USB...

    Viewsat Ultra glitch

Hi While scanning for new channels, I've run into a problem with my VSUltra...here's what happens: when I attempt to "add a new tp" in the channels search mode, I cannot get the "little window" that you can enter the new data in to open. there is a red button on the remote to press to open this...

    72 w

thanks BJ, it was about 15 degrees out last night... my lnb is a four month in service Invacom qph-031... perhaps this is the problem...maybe I'll try another this spring when I can get up on the roof.... (I could probably use my ice climbing crampons, but I think my roof would suffer dearly lol.)

    72 w

my true south is 72 w. lately, I've noticed very heavy pixelization at times. at first I thought it was weather, as we've a a lot of snow this winter. I've been able to get the snow to drop off of the dish by swinging it east and west. but last night the sky was perfectly clear. I tried bumping...

    RTV AMC-9 Quality way up

I noticed a drop in signal strengthabout a month ago, so much that the screen was pixelated. I stopped trying to watch. But about a week ago the strength tripled and now I'm getting a good clear and uninterupted picture. I thought my dish had come out of alignment, but perhaps not. thanks for...

    sg6000 quits working

thanks Iceberg and all- I did power off the receiver (this was the first thing that I did) and disconnect the coax for an hour or so...and I tried a short lead on the roof. I've also tried bumping the motor east then west but I believe it's frozen. The cable is all very new also, it was a...

    sg6000 quits working

My motor stopped working last night. We had quite a downpour for most of the night but I can't imagine this caused the problem. This motor has only been in service for a couple of months... I tried moving it with the manual button. The green light is on, but blinks red twice every few seconds...

need help finding far western sats

Thanks, AcWxRadar... I set my dish and motor up in the exact manner that you described. I have been a cabinet maker and finish carpenter for over 30 years, so I think I'm qualified to decide my mast is perfectly plumb. I have tried tweaking my signal on my true south sat. in the manner you have...

need help finding far western sats

thanks all, my mast is perfectly plumb from every angle... I appreciate the insights, but if I were as far off as you suggest why would I be tracking from 60 to 100 just fine and then lose everything after that? I have line of sight to the far western sats, the fact that I can hit 119 with the...

need help finding far western sats

thanks phlatwound, I brought a small tv and my receiver up on the roof a few weeks ago... and did just what you are suggesting. My efforts improved my signal quality greatly, and rescanning yeilded more channels and better quality on all satellites. All the other satellites that I'm tracking...

need help finding far western sats

I'm kind of new at this. I've been able to find the ku satellites from about 60w. to 101w. After that I can't seem to find anything. I have a 36"x39" dish with a sg6000 motor and an Invacom QPH-031 lnb. What puzzles me is I have a 20" dish about a foot lower that gets 119 and 110...Dishnetwork...

    Echostar 6@72.5w.

I've read at another site that TVland is in the clear on ES6. I've tried scanning for this satellite and when I zero in on a strong quality my receiver (Viewsat Ultra) reports that I'm either on Echostar 4.8 @77w. or (oddly enough) that I'm on AMC 6/C @ 72w. What puzzles me is that when I scan...
