Direct TV and Dish Network use a circular LNBF. Whereas, most of the dishes for FTA reception in America use a linear LNBF. You could use a circular LNBF for sat reception for the Atlantic region of the sky but as pro96 said you need a larger dish.

    History/Biography gone ?

Iceberg, what TPs are you using for History and Biography channels? The reason I ask is because maybe by manually entering them in versus blind scan they will show up on some receivers.

    Satellite Combo

Iceberg, I'm glad to read I'm not the only one to capture both sats at one position. I'll make a note of that for future reference. Thanks guys.

    Satellite Combo

I just thought it was weird that my Gbox lost counts on Galaxy 25 and the other satellite counts are fine. This is why I was asking if G25 had moved. I do understand that bleed over can occur. Thanks.

    Satellite Combo

Is it possible to receive three satellites at the same time? What I mean is, with one LNBF. I'm picking up Galaxy 17, Nimiq 1 and Galaxy 25 at the same dish position. Did G25 or the others move a little? Of course, G17 and N1 are roughly at the same position and G17 is 2 degrees away. Any ideas?

I used nmap to scan for open ports on the box and of course none were open but I did see something interesting. Along side the listed MAC address on the receiver was Shenzhen Dvbworld Technology CO. This company DVBWorld is located in China and has some kind of tie with Dreambox. Also, I noticed...

    Birdview DMX 741u

I have 8.5' birdview with a dmx741. I have installed it to be 1/8 inch sticking out on the dish side of the birdview scalar. This seems to be the sweet spot for best signal quality on my dish. I did not use the scalar that came with the lnbf as I made L brackets with holes to hold it in place...

I hate using links but here is one that I created. Link is down below. I don't know if anyone is aware but there is a program for the hd pvr800 that has a channel editor and loader. Just need to unrar it. I have tried the editor with the firmware file found at Sadoun's website. It works...

Could you try emulation since it would be hard to figure out every call to a piece of hardware on the hd pvr800? For example, USB port=no problem, HDMI port=no problem, Ethernet port=no problem, specific chip sets (such as controllers, regulators, bridges)=can be a problem. If you're like me...

If someone wanted to learn assembly language for a 300mhz mips processor, they could write their own interface for the hd pvr800. During my college years, I remember taking assembly language for x86 processors and its been too long ago for me - lol

I agree with Lak7. It got old switching from fixed antenna to motorized antenna just to use Diseqc and at the same time just to switch C or Ku bands. I have left mine to fixed antenna but I have to remember what position the dish needs to be in to use C or Ku. Fortunately, most birds that I...

Again, off topic but you could also test a remote by using a am/fm radio. Just tune in on a quiet place on the am band. Next, place the remote near the radio's antenna and press all buttons one at a time. You should hear beeps coming from radio. This will verify that the remote is transmitting.
