    811 & 921 Upgrade Info

They did mention last night that 6000s, 921s and 942s would receive the same upgrade options for the same prices.

If they are planning on moving the channels to 129 what happens to us NorthEasters who can't pick it up?

    Plasma for SD viewing

I compared SD on plasma vs 1080p DLPs at the stores and the plasmas did show a noticable difference in SD quality (as well as all signal quality imo), but I still don't think buying a plasma just to watch SD is the greatest of ideas.

    Plasma for SD viewing

I just hooked up a Panasonic 42" HD Plasma to and 811 HD receiver. I'll start with saying that HD looks absolutely amazing, both Dish's and OTA. Dish's SD ranges from horrendous to acceptable. Some shows at some times are fine to watch, others are almost unbearable. OTA digital SD shows look...

HDNet Movies is now 1440x1080i? No

I watched part of Iron Eagle last night and I did not think it was as clear as the average HDNet movie

    Great News!!!!

I called to lease a new HD receiver a week ago and was told I would get either a 411 , 211 or 811. The CSR assured me if I got the 811 it would be replaced with the correct model free of charge and he had me wait while he made that note on my account. So I called back up after the 811 got to...

Please!! Some straight answers on the new information.

Well I'll put it this way...I'm 30 miles from Baltimore stations. I hooked up a cheap, non amplified set top antenna to my TV's integrated tuner IN THE BASEMENT (concrete) and picked up most of the baltimore stations. (The 811 tuner missed a couple extras). Then I switched to my powered set...

Twentieth Century Fox Announces First Wave of 20 Blu-ray Disc Titles

I personally don't see the big deal. I have never watched a DVD where I could notice ANY defects, so I really don't care about seeing these movies come out in HD

    Showtime Package ordered, promptly cancelled

Dish SD looked very strong on our 27" SD set, and SLIGHTLY worse yet still very clear on our 32" SD set. Now with a 42" plasma the SD looks pretty blurry. Some channels aren't bad at all, yet some are horrendous. SD OTA looks fine to me, never any problems. And needless to say any true HD...

Who said any new HD (Incl Locals) or new VOOm channels in January?

I'm personally a fan of the last CSR I talked to, who had ME explain to him the existance of the 211/411 and the spelling of MPEG

    Sound Delay on HD Channels?

My sound works just fine through the tv's speakers for all my channels, but when I turn on my surround sound (Fed by a toslink optical cable from the 811) the HD channels seem to have a lag associated with the sound. All the SD channels are fine, but HD ones are out of sync. Any ideas?

When might Voom be added to the HD Pack?

I know I've heard rumors of Voom being added to the HD Pack all for one charge, but does anyone even have any guesses of when this might happen? I'm curious because I feel that if I'm subscribing to an HD pack and they add new channels on 61.5, won't it be likely they will provide the...

    720p Decision

Ah I see now. I'm new to this HD stuff as I said. I kind of figured any 480p was the same 480p just as any 720p would be the same 720p.

    Dish 1000 and 121

If your only concern is international channels all you should need is a 121 SuperDish that will pick up 110,119, and 121. A Dish 1000 picks up 110,119, and 129. 129 is used mostly for locals and the Voom HD package (Which is also on 61.5). You can also do some slight modifying to a superdish...

    Dish 411's Now Available

Well that may be true, but I'll take those bugs over paying for an MPEG 4 receiver when the time comes. I'm paying a $100 lease fee for this new HD receiver and I surely don't want to pay it again.

    720p Decision

Well I'll just say, unless something is completely wrong with my OTA signals, the 480p from DVDs looks crystal clear to me. The 1080i OTA signals (CBS, WB, NBC) are close behind, while the 720p signals (ABC, Fox) trail further behind. I'll be getting an HD receiver Friday to see how Dish's HD...

    720p Decision

I'd have to agree here. I've only had an HD set for a few days, but on a native 768p plasma (upconverts 720p, downconverts 1080i) the 1080i looks significantly better than the 720p signals. What I don't understand is why 480p DVDs look better than everything else?

    OTA Quality

It's a Panasonic 42" TH42PX50U. It has the aspect ratio button, but as the manual states, when receiving a 720p or 1080i broadcast you cannot change it. I can only change it for 480i or 480p DVD signals.

    OTA Quality

I'm just using the TV's integrated tuner. I'm awaiting a new HD receiver. The range goes from 0-100, dropout around 50. I was just watching some primetime shows and the 1080i content looked AMAZING. Other shows in 720p looked much much worse. I wish I could understand why my TV won't...

Need advice on adding another reciever

Ok, you're tech was correct in saying your LNB only supports 2 receivers. You have two options: Replace your LNB with a DishPro Twin and purchase a DishPro 34 Switch (DP34). The switch allows you to connect up to 3 satellite inputs and up to 4 room outputs. 2nd Option: Replace your LNB...

    OTA Quality

I just got a new HD plasma and decided to hook up a cheapo $5 set top antenna I had sitting around. I get most of my locals' HD and other digital channel feeds. (CBS, ABC, WB, Fox, and Partial NBC). According to my TV's signal strength they are all coming in around 75-85% (from 30 mi range)...
