    DIY installation?

The indusrty has changed since 1997. The local retailers make thier money these days on activation fees & residuals, not from selling equipment. So you would probably have to go online & purchase the equipment. Warranty issues can arise later if you do a self installation like it mentions above...

    Homemade Superdish problem

The older model Dish recievers are not capable of recognizing 4 satellite locations. This could be the problem, are part of the problem? I can't off hand remember if the 4900 is one of these models though, sorry.

New install - switch from Pegasus, need installer's help/advice

snakeyes, I do not believe that the incentive bonus for the installer is dependent on the DHA promo. I think if the customer is a Pegases customer or lives within a certian zip code area that Pegases operates in,then the installer recieves the bonus. I believe they have to provide address...

    Locals and grandfathered distant networks

I would like to thank Tony also for answering this question. The grandfathered locals issue has always confused me. As for the superdish, it has 3 seperate dish pro LNBs which have no switching capability. That is why the dish pro 34 switch,or dish pro plus 44 switch, has to be used with the...

    Additional location

I believe you can add the additional reciever to your account. You would either have to purchase the reciever or lease it,depending on what type of promotion you under with Dish. You will also have to pay to have the dish installed on your cabin(or install it yourself for free).

If he has a tv that only has the coax input, then he'll need the ol' rf modulator from the local electronics store.

    Satellite and stregnth?

Lenny, It is best to check your signal on transponder 11 or 12. Some of the lower transponders(1-9) are spot beams & don't show both 119 & 110 signals. Just highlight the transponder # on the signal strength screen & push the up arrow on your remote to get up to 11. Then highlight the check...

Getting CATV input on a 522.

You can spilit(w/basic splitter) out the analog cable signal to the tv 1 input(thru coax cable),& use another splitter (reversed)to send both the tv2 tuner output & cable analog to the 2nd tv. It will work alright with analog cable. DO NOT try this with an off OTA signal! It will feed back...

    Is it just me?

There are some legitimate complaints concerning Dish, its service, equipment,& installation. There are also people who can never be satisfied & like to gripe. Take it for what it is ,a discussion forum. :)

    Dish 500 for just 61.5?

You may need to go onto the signal strength screen & run a check switch when you have the signal at the 61.5 location.

Signing up have a couple of questions

Hello Trindle, 1) one of each I believe 2) You will be charges $5 for the VOD if no AETP, & $5 for one additional reciever(*11 & %22).You will save an additional $5 fee on a third reciever with the 522. 3) PQ is subjective. Everyone has thier own opinion.

Excactly what preogramming do you wish to recieve when you say "wanting it all"? Where do you live? Are you new to Dish or do you already have a system intsalled & wish to upgrade? The newest line of Dish recievers can only recognize 4 sat feeds,so having 5 on each reveiver willn ot work...

    need help with dish

It depends on what & where your apartment manager/owner will allow the installer to mount the dish. If they confine the installation to your patio/balcony as most do,then you may be out of luck. Sometimes it depends on the location of the apartment. Is it on the edge or corner of the apartment...

    Superdish problems

mski, Basically, if you get a good signal on the 110, then you go & peak the 121 signal. If you have a good 121 signal then the 119 should fall into place.Atleast that is the way it appears by the advice Dish gives on how to aim the superdish. As ats7627 & Simple Simon have...

    Connecting to both satellites

Spr1nt, with DP twin lnb & only one receiver you shouldn't need any type of switch,& the one cable connected to the 119 port is all you need. Is the mast or pole the dish is mounted to level? If not it can cause you headaches trying to find both signals. Be sure to double check the...

    Superdish problems

The 301 will work with a legacy,Dish Pro,& Superdish system. It is the type of LNBF that you use that determines what is compatible(legacy, dish pro, dish pro plus). I do know that model 1000-5000,7100,7200 receivers are not superdish compatible. They will not recognize a FSS sigal(121 & 105 sat)...

Advice on 119 Low Odd, No Even

MCCarty, if you are having the same problem on all 3 receivers, then more than likely it is not a diplexor or line problem. I would guess it is your dish alignment or the quad LNB. Di you check switch all of the receivers or just one after you switched the outputs?

    Superdish problems

A type 1 superdish for the 121 location should have 3 LNBs. The 121 & 119 are in the same molding but have separate "eyes". Then there should be a separate single(I guess in your case a dual) LNB for the 110. Dish advises folks to peak the dish on the 110 first(outermost LNB).Then go back &...

Hooking up local cable to 301 receiver

So do you have a separate cable line ran to the spot of the receiver,or just the one for your satellite? If you have a separate cable line then you just need to insert it into the coaxial port on the back of your 301 labeled "antenna/cable". If you have just the one cable line for satellite,then...
