Need to move TV and decide how to run cabling.

I've seen the Hopper commercials, but hadn't looked at how it works. That may be the simplest solution. I guess with it, all I would need to do is install a coax outlet at the TV and run whatever additional cables for DVD player etc. This is in our living room, so not going the home theater...

Need to move TV and decide how to run cabling.

Currently have two dish HD receivers. 622 and 722 I think. Each runs 2 TVs. One HD and the other not. My wife is wanting to get an additional HD tv to replace one of the standard def TVs. It will be mounted on the wall, which is going to require a new cable run. So, here's the dilema...

The way this was handled makes me feel like I'm back with the cable co again.

Way to improve the pic quality?

There's no choice to watch OTA when you live in a rural area. Don't have that luxury.

Way to improve the pic quality?

So, can I set my 622 to send HD channels in 1080 and SD channels in 480 or do I have to switch back and forth depending on the channel?

Way to improve the pic quality?

HD channels look good on my Samsung 42" Plasma. Non HD looks like crap. For instance, I was trying to watch the Indy F1 race Sunday and the pic was so grainy it looked much much worse than watching on in the old days with rabbit ears on a 19" tube tv. Is there something I can do to improve...

Is it supposed to be off this much?

I'm gettting signals in the 90s now. I don't profess to understand it, I'm new. But it works now. Perhaps the low numbers were due to the weather as the first tech suggested? I'll keep an eye on it, and demand a service call if I have a problem.

Is it supposed to be off this much?

It's fixed! I called dish, and a very helpful tech explained that the tech my wife spoke to was full of it. He ran me through the diagnostics and it turns out that the installer apparently never ran "point dish"

Is it supposed to be off this much?

There is a help message on screen that says with the new software update the signal strength numbers should be lower. So 90s and 80s are what it should be even post update?

Is it supposed to be off this much?

New customer. Several times in the three weeks we've had service, we lose signal and get the "acquiring satellite signal" message. This with a 1000 with a 622 and a 322. It went out this morning and again this afternoon. My wife called service and they said there is a storm brewing 70 miles...

    Only HD channels on guide

New subscriber. On the TVs hooked up to my 622, only the HD channels show up on the guide and when I use the up and down buttons to change channels, it only cycles through the HD channels. I've tried changing some settings under menu, but nothing seems to work.

    How to piggyback

Whoops. I obviously can't type and think at the same time. I meant to say there's no antenna at the receiver anymore and the splitter behind the receiver is hooked up in reverse.

    How to piggyback

Okay, I think I understand. There's no tv at the receiver any more, just at the downstream TVs. Your splitter behind the receiver is hooked up in reverse. I'll give it a try with out running extra cable first and see what happens.

Great! Ken, am I to understand that there is a remote antenna at each of your sets? Is there a box at the garage set? Sorry for the confusion.

    How to piggyback

I have a 4 room system. Dish 1000 with a 622 and a 322. I would like to piggyback a tv in my garage to watch occasionally. I realize it would have to be on whatever channel as the TV I'm leeching off of. Question is, exactly how do I do this, and will it effect pic quality on the other TVs?

    New customer

Finally ditched comcast and got E* yesterday. Dish 1000 with a 322 on two standard tvs and a 522 hooked up to a plasma and an older HD tube TV. Pretty happy so far, and the installer, out of knoxville, TN was great. He even did a installed a pole and found a way to route the cables in with...

Do I really want to do this?

I have four TVs. (actually 5, but one is a garage tv that I'll just piggy back) One thng that also attracted me to Dish was the ability to inexpensively add two TVs, whereas with cable, it was expensive to rent two more boxes. I'm looking at the 250 package, most likely with HD.

Do I really want to do this?

Planning to switch to Dish from Comcast when we move in the next few weeks, but do I want to? How's the picture quality, customer service, etc?? Picture quality on cable is great, but Comcast's rates keep going up, thus the move. I pay $120 a month for one HD DVR, with only digital basic and...
