OK ... update !! I called back a third time and got a very helpful local CSR and she took the time to check things out. First ... they will and have to by law now activate owned equipment, but and it's a big but .... the are NO Motorola boxes for sale legit !!! That's what wasn't sitting well...

Talked to Comcast Just finished talking to Comcast a second time to verify activating a purchased HD DVR ..... and yes it can be done. So the question still remains .... Which Motorola box is best ??

I'm told I can purchase and activate the box as if it were a Tivo. Also was told I only have to pay for cable service .. not the DVR service.

From my understanding they can't keep you from owning your own and my local office said I can activate it on their system just like a Tivo.

Update: After having it hooked up for the winter with the woodstove cranking .. keeping the house at around 75 -76F .. the readings are as follows: High - 116F Low - 85F Avg. - 104F Also as a side note ... I've cancelled my Dish account and willbe selling my 722 with fans attached...

What model is the best and can I purchase one ... if so ... where ?? Thanks!! Eric

Update !! High 118 F Low 75 F Avg. 103 F They reset last night or the night before. Oh ... also noticed internal fan is not running now ... not sure why I caught it running a few times !!??:confused:

No ... I just noticed it when I shut everything off, so I checked and thought it was the hard drive, but noticed air moving. Got up at like 2:00am one morning and noticed it was still running, so I've kept and eye on it and sure enough the fan is running.

Nope ... I used a flash light and looked in the vents ... It's running !!

Well I think I've got a plan. I purchased 3 - Vantec Stealth 80mm fans and a AC power supply (adjustable). Plan is to use one fan(with filter) to force air in the right side and one to pull air out the left side, put 4 - 1" rubber spacers under unit and finally mount 3rd fan in back of cabinet...

Did you attach it to the side or just have it sitting next to it and what size did you use ?? I plan on using a 80mm on the side, then putting another 80mm or a 120mm at top of cabinet to pull all the hot air out the back.

I know there were some cooling issues with the 622/722 depending on your system setup in cabinets .... my question is ... is it better to pull the hot air out of the left side vents or blow cool air in them ??? I've seen both suggested in other threads. I plan on hooking 1 or 2 quiet thermal...

I 've been told a number of times here and at another forum that the 1000.2 is very tricky to align, so my question is what's the best dish or combination of dishes ?? I've seen two Dish 500's used, Dish 1000.2, Dish 1000 + 500, etc. !! Sorry to be a pain, but I do appreciate the input and help...

I'll be running about 8' - 10' to the splitter .... split signal 3ways .... each split run will be 30' to the most. I use good RG6 cable and snap lock connectors .... any suggestions on splitters ???
