DISH Network/Weather Channel Reach Renewal Agreement

Speculation After seeing the slate (thanks, Scott, for posting the screen shot as I am unable to do so), I had the same questions as dmendenjr and hall. The spotbeam solution seems like a good idea, but some of those spotbeams are pretty large. Also, that ties TWC to Dish's spotbeam...

DISH Network Launches (Then Removes) The Weather Cast

That's very interesting info. The time delays last night got me to wondering how they would provide 24/7 coverage with such a small staff of personalities (according to the WeatherNation site). Looking forward to your YouTube clip!

DISH Network Launches (Then Removes) The Weather Cast

I noticed this last night and had to chuckle. It's one of those little details that I would consider unacceptable if I was running the show. Truthfully, though, it's not a huge deal.

DISH Network Launches (Then Removes) The Weather Cast

Yeah, I was excited about Dolly (my first direct hit hurricane). I rode the storm out on a 55 foot boat. We lost radio comms as the storm approached, but were still able to get radar images on cell phones for a bit longer. That thing seemed to sit on top of us forever! Unfortunately we had to...

DISH Network Launches (Then Removes) The Weather Cast

I know it's not quite what you asked for, but here is a marketing video for the WeatherNation that gives us some clues on the how this channel comes to dish; it also has shots of the sets and sample screens. Until we find actual footage from the Dish branded channel, this will have to do...

DISH Network Launches (Then Removes) The Weather Cast

I was just re-reading the thread and came across this post (somehow missed it on first read). Glad to know this is not an in-house channel for Dish. I wonder what sort of agreement they have and if it is exclusive?

DISH Network Launches (Then Removes) The Weather Cast

Scott, Do your sources have anything to offer on when interactive will be on the HD version? Also, will we be seeing improvements over the existing interactive app? Finally, what can we expect on the "future" second weather channel? Thanks! Red

DISH Network Launches (Then Removes) The Weather Cast

First Impressions Okay, here's my first take on the channel: * graphics and video look very nice - although very, very similar to the TWC grahics... could be trouble there! * the in depth local focus is pretty cool, especially the current tornado info for the Dallas and surrounding areas. *...

DISH Network Launches (Then Removes) The Weather Cast

I certainly hope we can select those tabs (somehow) or they start cycling like the sports ticker on ESPN!

Ergen: “We really gave too good a deal"

I'm glad I decided to sit pat with Absolute. However, if they pull my programming or hike the price, I will drop to Family (I would go lower, but I think Essentials is gone). I realize they aren't threatened by my stance, but the reality is that I won't pay a dime more for my programming and...

    DISH Network May Remove RFD-TV

Yes, but as far I know these are all C band. Part of the appeal of Free DBS is that is will be received with a single dish that is 1M or less.

    DISH Network May Remove RFD-TV

Perhaps the RFD-TV folks should talk to the Free DBS folks. Not that I support Charlie & Co's practices, but it certainly doesn't sound like Dish is terribly interested in the RFD product. I wonder if Dish would require an exclusivity clause in a future contract with RFD? This is a bit of a...

2A diplexer with dual power pass?

Thanks, I thought so too. Last night I came across these two blog entries that I hope to research (and understand better) soon. HDTVexpert — From The Field — DTV Reception Out On The Fringe The Front Line :: THE DTV TRANSITION: Time?s A-Wasting! If I read them correctly, it seems...

2A diplexer with dual power pass?

I received the last of my equipment today and completed the installation. Here is what I did and the results I got. Originally, I mounted an RCA ANT751 antenna on the pole where my 1000.2 dish is located, just below the dish itself. This antenna was split and diplexed onto two RG-6 runs for...

    IMPORTANT: 148 Satellite Programming Loss

Interesting info - disappointing, though. I happen to like the Pentagon Channel and have missed it since I no longer have my 61.5 wing up. I was kinda hoping it would show up on 129 eventually. Oh well, disappointments and dish seem to go hand-in-hand of late.

2A diplexer with dual power pass?

Cool, thanks for the confirmation! (Miner) Next up is trying to calculate how strong of a preamp I need for the system. I am guesstimating about 16db of loss on the antenna feed (8db for Holland HRvS3 splitter, 1.5db each DPD2 diplexer, 5 db cabling). Using the standard of adding 5-10db of...

2A diplexer with dual power pass?

I have the standard 1000.2 configuration and am using diplexers with it - no problem on the sat side of things. On the OTA side, when using the diplexers I get very few of the channels that scan when the antenna is directly connected to the ViP211. I have done a lot of research and reading and...

2A diplexer with dual power pass?

I found that one, but have not been able to figure out if it is 2A rated.

2A diplexer with dual power pass?

Well, running a separate cable sounds good. Trouble is, I am on a one year lease and will be moving at the end of that lease. I'm not exactly into cabling someone else's house for them - even if they would let me! So, diplexers are actually the preferred solution in this case.

2A diplexer with dual power pass?

I am looking for a diplexer similar to the Blue Holland, but with power pass on both ports (I need power pass on both ports for an OTA pre-amplifier). I have a 1000.2 and ViP211 system, so don't think 2 amp capability is necessary, but I would prefer to cover my bases. Does anyone have any...

    Turbo HD Packages any updates?

As much as I love my Absolute HD, common sense tells me that the main issue MUST be the content providers. Otherwise, D* would have a competing HD-only package ( You know Charlie isn't going to be a loss-leader just to offer a unique package... ;) ). And, let's face it, history has shown that...

Any changes likely with the PI Channels?

Now that Ciel-2 is blasting away, what are the chances of the PI programming from 129W changing? I don't recall the criteria for PI channels, but if it is a percentage of channels, then that could be a factor. I know Public Interest channels are of very little interest in comparison to all...
