Whaaa?:confused: I had moved a bunch of .avi movie files to the AzBox drive and I tired to play them last night - "Unknown Video codec" They play fine on my PC in that format... what format do I need to change these movies into to get them to play on the AzBox? Thanks!

I just leave a composite cable hooked up from the Ultra's composite output to the composite input on my TV. The composite always works, at least enough to figure out where you are on the menu.

Is IPTV actually working?

I've got an Ultra, too. I'm not going with the latest, but the one before that is OK. 4890, if I recall correctly.

I have no problems with USALS at all. It's nice to have at least one part that's working well...

Good point! Who knows what this thing wants? :confused: Why would numbers work fine in one field, but not work in another field? I'm not even gonna bother asking in the official AzBox forum, but if someone else feels inclined, please let us know how it turns out...

So, I can see that some of the TPs have good quality, but they don't show up as channels. I can't believe that they're scrambled, since they show up as horizontal or vertical, and I unchecked "scrambled" in the search. Am I missing something here - a magic box to check in the double secret...

Well, it's odd, now that I've had a chance to mess with it more. The number keys work in some screens, but not others. The space bar mutes the sound instead of producing a space. (I use an underscore, seeing as how I have no idea how to make a space appear) The arrow keys and the enter key...

Yeah, I've noticed that. I have had to rescan every single TP on every single sat every time I upgrade. Is that lame or what? :mad:

I am given to understand that it will accept and work with a USB keyboard - but it will not boot up with the keyboard plugged in; you have to plug it in after booting.

Turn him in to eBay. Especially since I'm sure he'll be trying to sell another in the next couple of days. But look at it this way - you saved the money you would have lost on it when you got terminally annoyed with it and decided to sell it.

I've concluded that "ultra" is short for "ultra frustrating.":mad: Every time I try to upgrade firmware, it corrupts the sat list and even though I have it backed up, it still doesn't restore or work correctly. Are there any HD/PVR boxes that don't do this crap?

I went back to the 4177 (I think) firmware. I also joined the AZBox facebook page and now I hard-@** them about their lame firmware all the time. :)

I finally got it fixed, but of course I lost every sat and channel in the process. Grrr.

Could be worse. I put on 4829 last night and it won't move move to USALS positions at all. I thought the motor had croaked, but it will move by manual diseq commands east or west. :(

Well, I haven't tried the switch in back, although I don't have high hopes for that. If slash when that doesn't work, the next step is to re-flash it with the current firmware and scan all over a-freaking-gain. Sigh.

OK, I finally got my dish up and aimed, and a couple hundred channels showed up. However, now when I got to the TV menu to select a channel, they're all - every last one - grayed out. When I go back to the setup menu to select a sat or do a blind scan on a sat, none of the sats I scanned...

What I did was to delete them all, active or not. Then go to blind scan and it will scan them all and put the good ones back in. Works like a charm!
