off topic Hi RandallA, dish doesn't use a 22 KHz tone do they? the problem I had with the perfect vision switches mentioned above was regarding a bed & breakfast I did several years ago (~6-7 years). Legacy dish 500, PV switches, & the system didn't work... 4 hr+ drive each way... I...

Dish Network on my computer monitor

The CSR @ dish will most likely ask if you have a dish installed @ 129 and you'll have to pay for the programming - even if you're buying the receiver outright. At least that's what happened to me last year.

    Best transponders to peak to?

peaking on a particular transponder doesn't make sense to me. They're not on different spot beams are they? If a satellite is peaked on one tp then wouldn't it be peaked on all of them on that sat?

    Can't peg Sig Strength - 96 of 125 - D500 & D1000

I know that a higher signal than what I have isn't going to improve my picture quality, I just want to make sure I have the best signal quality before I start working on distribution w/ longer cable lengths, switches, etc. I want to dial in the distributed system, that's what this is all about...

    Can't peg Sig Strength - 96 of 125 - D500 & D1000

then the 1000 mentioned above is actually the 1000.2 OK - I went up again, working only with the dish 500 w/ dual DP LNB (single for 110/119). Initial test results w/ twin lnb: 119: -32.3 dBm, 15.2 C/N 110: -35.5 dBm, 13.2 C/N Switched out to two DP single LNBs (one for 119 &...

    HDMI Thing Again!

Off topic a little solder wick or a solder sucker should help you clean up the PCB. Finely stranded speaker wire (soft, fine strands of copper) may pick up the mess if that's all you can get. tips on desoldering from Google U: How To Desolder

    Can't peg Sig Strength - 96 of 125 - D500 & D1000

    Hey - I just experimented with a dish 500 (existing) and a dish 1000 (119, 110, & 129) (1000.2?). 6,1,1 before: DiSH 500 w/ DP dual lnb 119 on TR 11 = 96 110 on TR 11 = 86 then I put the 1000 on the mast, set skew, peaked, check switch: dpp combo lnb 119 = 94 110 TR 11 = 82 129...

    New Dish installer needs help!!

a good meter does not make a good installer. any slouch can buy good tools - using them properly, now that's another matter. I siliconed a small piece of plexi over my analog needles - it's worked perfectly since. Now if I could just find a replacement battery or make one myself.

    Satellite alignment meters (positive ID)

I got the super buddy today - it sure feels like a quality instrument. I checked out the training dvd & checked it out on my personal dish. The training DVD was very informative and helpful deciphering the dBm, explaining C/N, signal strength/quality etc, also helpful in providing...

Change which receiver is the Remote TV2 receiver

I think the tv1 remote is just IR, while TV2 is a UHF antenna. Is this your question? If so, an IR remote extender may fix your problem. HTH nevermind - I misunderstood the question. It sounds like a cable issue.

    Satellite alignment meters (positive ID)

I have the channel master dual & used to take single LNBs onto the roof & align 119 & 110 in a single bound. I'm looking for something more though, something to make it even faster & better. I ordered a batch of the dish 1000 w/ the triple LNB & had trouble locating 129, so I got the...

    Satellite alignment meters (positive ID)

Hey all, I just got the Birdog 3.0 this week and then, while scanning NACE for distribution amps & switches I came across a couple of meters by Spaun that I hadn't heard of before. I'd like to know if anyone has had experience with the Spaun meters because this one (don't know wholesale...

100ft cable from dish to home?

I had some perfect vision cable left over & used it for the dish in my new house a couple of years ago. There's already visible degredation. PV cable may not be the quality cable you're referring to but in any case I can't see any reason to recommend anything but black cable for installations...

100ft cable from dish to home?

I'd assume about any RG6 coax (sweep tested to at least 2 GHz of course!!) would be OK for your application. From what I've read the cable lenghth limit for Legacy equipment is 150' (may be 125'), and 200' for DP & DPP equipment. 100' isn't much, but even if you did have problems I'm sure an...

DPP LNB, will it power 2 separate 311 receivers?

Hi guys, I have another question for those who have followed the tech closer than me over the last few years... I am wondering if a single feed from a DPP twin (110/119, not sure if "twin" is the proper term) will power 2 separate receivers, or only a dual tuner receiver. I guess my...

Ooops - I used Belden 1189A - Will it work?

Thanks guys for the info. I called Belden's tech line (800-belden1) and he said even though it wasn't the best choice, it would definitely work and said he'd trust it up to 3 GHz and not to worry. bhelms & everyone else: is belden 1694A the preferred cable for commercial applications...

Ooops - I used Belden 1189A - Will it work?

I picked up 3 boxes of Belden 1189A to wire my office for satellite and wonder if I made a serious mistake. The system is up and running with a Dish1000, 3 DPP44 switches cascaded, and 8 receivers planned. 3 of the receivers are running now straight off the dish, I haven't connected the...

    PocketDish video inputs

I notice the two higher end pocket dish units are able to record an analog source from a vcr, dvd player, etc. How is this accomplished? I assume it records a Composite signal. Does the unit have to be docked to record a composite signal? How long can it record an analog source using just...
