Are they ever going to allow us to manage DVR content? They need to give us full DVR management via directv.com. :-)

    Goodbye DISH.....Hello DirecTV.....

My D* install went great today. Two HR24's and MRV setup. The installer went above and beyond doing the install during a really hard cold rain. The installer did not want to use the old wiring so I helped him run new RG6. Two runs to the main HR24 and one to the second. The old was kinked in...

    swiching to direct next week

Saturday install for me as well. Thanks for the information about E* wanting the LNB back. I will have to ask the installer to grab the old dish off the roof if he does not re-use the current location.

    How can I get a HR24 Receiver?

I hate having to pay $200 just for the privilege of leasing the dvr.

    HR-21 problems

Similar issue here. 2 HR21-100's that seem to get slower over a period of time. 48-72 hours after a reboot its taking a good 30 seconds to change channels. Leave the ethernet unplugged and its the normal 5 seconds to change channels. That is my only real complaint about these dvrs. They are so...

XM Removing Some Channels from DirecTV

Wrong. XM has a much better and deeper playlist on most music channels. I don't pay to hear the same songs six to ten times a day. Keep the XM music and everything else from Sirius. Yes, I have both services. XM and Sirius in my car, XM and Sirius in my home office, and the wife has XM in her...

DirecTV Rumor: MPEG2 to MEPG4 HD Mirroring / NEW HD Info

At least that is one bonus for moving to leasing. No getting stuck with expensive boxes that are worthless. I have my two $1000 HD DirecTivo's collecting dust in the basement. Its the price we pay for being early adapter's.:D

Directv lowered the price on the HD DVR

They should send you a free AM21 if you are cool with that. Otherwise its a crap shoot with the CSR actually doing what they say. I fully expect to get two hr-21's on Sunday and then will have to beg for am21's.

Directv lowered the price on the HD DVR

I called to sign up tonight and they gave me two hd-dvr's w/ install for $25. 2 year commitment of course and i signed up for the hd dvr plus package. I was expecting to have to argue to get the hd-dvrs for free.

Spent over $2k to watch steelers from omaha any alternatives?

I wasn't aware that DirecTV had a satellite at 118.7.:p Going back to Dish is not an option. I did not like being fee'd to death. Especially for not having a landline.

Spent over $2k to watch steelers from omaha any alternatives?

DirecTV has us by the balls. You can "subscribe" up north but all said and done it is not any cheaper. It would be nice if Sunday Ticket was available to all. StarChoice has non HD Sunday Ticket for $100 Canadian versus the $179 or $279 (with stupor pack) that we are forced to pay. Here we go...

    Satellite Testing

Was there ever an official reason for that 60 days? I remember hearing all kinds of rumors. Bad software, botched firmware upgrade, lost contact, human error, etc were some of the rumors. Supposed it was the first of that kind for Boeing so that wanted to test it more.

Wall Street Mocks DirectTV's HD claims

Shouldn't they be waiting until DirecTV X is in orbit and functioning before claiming this stuff will launch this year? They'd look even more stupid if its delayed or there is a glitch on launch or insertion. Nothing like trying to jinx yourself.

Have they fixed the R15 problems yet?

I believe that R15 development is outsourced while HR20 development is done in house.

HDTV: DIRECTV Finally Gets the Picture

129 is a crappy old satellite so you _do_ need a separate dish (or something larger then the Dish1000) for 129 or 61.5 to get the best signal and to avoid the dropouts. The Dish1000+ which is much bigger is a one dish solution imo. DirecTV is going to have a scary amount of bandwidth available...

Dish Adds Another HD Channel - Food Network

Assuming D* is using similar encoders as E* and/or AT&T then they are not able to encode full rez 1920x1080i HD to mpeg4 in real time. MPEG4 is not ready for prime time yet.

Dish Adds Another HD Channel - Food Network

Food HD is so compressed it looks like DirecTV HD. Such a shame. Mpeg4 on both providers looks like crap compared to the source. Had a big group over for the ND game tonight and I flipped between ABC on D*, E*, and OTA. No comparison. It's so sad. :-( God I hope better mpeg4 encoders come out...

How can sat radio work almost....

HDTVFanAtic, sounds like you have your antenna on the inside of your vehicle. I had XM from 2002 until May 2005 and have had Sirius since then. I rarely see a repeater as well as there are none between Lansing and Detroit. I did lose signal for the first time in at least a year because I was in...

The "New" DirecTV HD DVR coming out soon!

In February I jumped from D* after 7 years to Dish for the HD. I'll definitely jump back if the HD comes and if the HR20 gets the bugs worked out. I had two HR10-250's and loved them. When DirecTV replaced a dead dsr7000 with the R15 that was the end. I office spaced it. Here's to hoping the...

    May 23rd DirecTV Rumor

Gotta disagree with Satmeister. He is smoking the DirecTV crack rock. I admit being a D* love child for many years but I finally got sick of it after seeing E* at a friends house. I pulled the D* plug after 7 years in February 2006. E* looks numerous times better on my two tv's and yes I kept...
