I'm a current Dish subscriber who's "moved" and my service address is Cleveland. Therefore, I get all the Indians games from STO, and the Browns from the local affiliates, and the Cavs on FSN Ohio.

But the bad news is Dish does not carry the Cleveland locals in HD. Is it as easy to "move" with D* as it is with E*?

It looks like E* will not be carrying the Cleveland locals until it shoots a few new sats next year, then who knows when it'll happen after that?

If I read it right, I switch to D*, "move" to Cleveland, and I get the locals in HD, as well as all 3 sports teams?

Is it that easy to get what I want?

If you want the stations so bad, why don't you physically move to Cleveland? Seriously, what you are asking is against the contract that you signed with Directv. Do you expect us to help you?

jeez- I was just asking a question. Are you telling me everyone who's subscribed to DTV lives where they say they do?

It's not a problem with Dish.

Everyone, no, but that's what you agree to when you sign up. BTW, I have heard that Dish has audits where they call up and ask for receiver id numbers to confirm that everything is legit.

It should be, as long as your location falls within the Cleveland spotbeams. Also, do be aware that the HD spots may vary from the SD spots. (could be more or less) How far away are you from Cleveland would help to tell us. I assume that you currently are getting the Cleveland locals thru E* with no problems.

Don't worry about all the little naysayers - I've moved on BOTH systems since at least 2001 & haven't lost a night's sleep yet, & probably won't for the foreseeable future. :D ;)

And please tell us how THAT stops people from "moving" - the ONLY thing is does is tells E* ALL the receivers on an account ARE in the SAME house. (to stop "stacking", which is NOT the same thing as moving - geeze... ;) ;) )

Simple, if you say you have a particular box at your house, but you really don't, then you can't give them the numbers they want. Simple.

No, I am saying you claim to have a box at home A to get those locals, but it is really at home B. They call home A, but you can not give them the id numbers of the box because you do not have it there. That is what I am referring to.

WHAT difference DOES it make where the box IS - the ID number generated is NOT dependent on WHERE it is actually LOCATED at. The ONLY thing that DOES matter, is that those numbers DO change & you must be able to read them off AT THE TIME they are calling you about them. It makes NO difference WHATSOEVER if you & your receiver(s) are at your house, 50 miles away, 500 miles away, 2000 miles away, in a hotel, girlfriends house, whorehouse, camper, car, etc - as long as you can see your receiver screens is the ONLY thing that matters.

Sorry, but receiver audits will NOT stop movers, unless they start sending people out to your place to find you... ;) ;)

Every one here seems to have one opinion or another. Is it breaking the law to "move"... sure it is. How many people posting on this very thread have installed software on their computers that they did not purchase but got from a friend or family member? No one alive has not broken software piracy laws, and piracy does include installing software you did not purchase, not just copying it and giving it away or selling it.

How many people posting on this very thread do exactly the speed limit when they drive and not one mile per hour over? Again... not one can make that claim. Everyone under the age of 65 does at least 5mph over posted speed limits.

If D* had any problem with subscribers "moving" it would not be so easy to do, and you would hear of people getting busted, like you do with E* subscribers when they get audited. But D* is sticking up for what they believe is the customers' right to not be stuck with watching just their local DMA's channels. Before the Networks got the FCC to tighten the laws on this, it was not a big deal. So why do the networks want you to watch only your local DMA? Money. They feel they lose on advertising if Dallas becomes the DMA of choice for the majority customers to watch rather than New York. My local DMA does not want me watching car dealer advertisements from Chicago, because the Ford Dealer in Grand Rapids pays good money to be advertising on my local channels.

Why should we be forced to watch what others want us to watch? We should have a right to choose what we want to watch.

If you like not having rights to watch what you want, keep on talking about how people are breaking the law by "moving". Because D* does not make a big deal of it, and neither does the FCC.

We are not talking about stealing satellite signal here. We are not talking about having the ability to watch every DMA in the country. What we are talking about is the right to choose what DMA we want to watch.

And if you are accusing those of us who have in the past, or are thinking about "moving", remember to check your speedometer the next time your on the free-way.

Have a great day! :)

P.S. The way a zip code to get instantly qualified for the New York locals is 04769!

You are either full of &%^t or I am not alive. I have never stolen ANY software, if I want it, I buy it. Just because YOU are a thief does NOT mean everyone is. Some of us have never stolen ANYTHING in our lives, but sounds like you were raised differently or just its convenient for your desire to be a thief to attempt to rationalize your behavior in this way.

How many people posting on this very thread do exactly the speed limit when they drive and not one mile per hour over? Again... not one can make that claim. Everyone under the age of 65 does at least 5mph over posted speed limits.

Same as above, you are making some really rash assumptions to justify breaking laws. I am under 65, never have had a speeding ticket and do NOT speed.

If that can be proven and is widespread as you think it is, E* is guilty of conspiracy to break federal laws, which I think the FCC and DOJ have proven they are not exactly going to like. E* has had problems in the past and they no longer carry national channels because they are not allowed to. :)

Why should we be forced to watch what others want us to watch? We should have a right to choose what we want to watch.

Because the law says so? Go ahead, break any laws you don't agree with, and when you find yourself on a vacation at taxpayer's expense, think of it as a respite, not jail / prison time.

If you like not having rights to watch what you want, keep on talking about how people are breaking the law by "moving". Because D* does not make a big deal of it, and neither does the FCC.

If you seriously think the FCC doesn't care, you are sadly mistaken.

We are not talking about stealing satellite signal here. We are not talking about having the ability to watch every DMA in the country. What we are talking about is the right to choose what DMA we want to watch.

And dayum the laws, eh? I guess it would be OK with you if I come and steal your car even though its against the law. Same logic, I choose to not obey the theft laws and if you try to stop me, I'll just shoot you as I see murder laws as pretty silly to boot. That would be fine with you, right?

And if you are accusing those of us who have in the past, or are thinking about "moving", remember to check your speedometer the next time your on the free-way.

Always do, but thanks for the reminder. :) Also, I always remember to check the gas, tires, etc.,, but thanks for reminding me. :D

Have a great day! :)

Always do, don't have to worry that I am going to be arrested for breaking the law like some people who are thieves ought to be feeling.

P.S. The way a zip code to get instantly qualified for the New York locals is 04769!

What do you do when they send the bill to Maine, hijack a plane so you can fly up and retrieve it or do you have one of your crooked friends there forward it to you committing mail fraud as well?

It must be easy to live with no ethics, but no doubt in my mind you are one of the people who whine if the laws are not observed by others. Only the laws you like, naturally.

"I'm sorry Dish rep, I've got painters in my living room right now and everything is covered with a tarp and unplugged. I can't get in there right now to give you any information."

I've got dozens of excuses that come to mind, some real, some hokey. The point is, if they are on the other end of a phone they have no idea where you physically are or your box is. There is no need for anybody to panic.

Slingbox in from your home in Maine and get the ID off the screen in DC to give to the auditor. Don't have time to slingbox in? The auditor wants the number right now?" Sorry, I haven't got access to the room, they are painting it and the box is unplugged and covered with a tarp. I can call you back later tonight" (when I slinglbox in to my Dish 622 and get you the info from the screen you are crying about.)

So many work arounds... why people worry about an audit is beyond me.

justify it anyway you want to, it's stealing,,, and so is cheating on your wife even if your wife is "blackedout" any given night and you feel you want some

haha... stacking, "moving" and cheating on your spouse are three different things. I think most spouses couldn't care less if a guy does the first two, but I think she would feel strongly against her husband doing the third.

Aside from what is morally correct, legal, or whatever, the talk is about how it's done and what works and doesn't work.

What doesn't work is a discussion about any topic on here that is going along good and then the Morality Police step in and cry, "that's illegal, that's wrong."

Hello Dummy, nobody asked about what is right and what is wrong. How do you "move," and how do you "stack." Keep your morality and legality BS, oh yeah and the wife cheating comparison to yourself.

This happens with every questionable post. "What you are doing is illegal, burning a 622 recording to a DVD-R, that is a copyright violation!" Sorry, didn't ask about that. If a person doesn't want to answer how to do something or offer up suggestions, and all you bring to the table is a bitch about how it is wrong, just shut up and view another thread. It is different if somebody is asking the legality of something, but otherwise, there is no need for anybody to dip in with their interpretation of what is OK and what is not. Just answer the questions.

I'm sick of this all over this site. Every thread has somebody that knows it all about copyright, Dish policy, etc. Shut up!

Actually, he is pretty accurate on this. I have a computer business and do a lot of residential computer repair. Most, if not all, people have some piece of software on their computer (IE MS Office, antivirus software, etc) that they borrowed and did not pay for. Whether you like it or not, people do not view intellectual property the same way they do going into a store and physically stealing something from the shelf. Many people don't even understand that they just can't borrow a CD from a friend and install the software. But he is right, most people are in violation of this. "Oh, I brought MS Office home from work and installed it."

But anyway, nobody cares about your opinion of right and wrong on this thread. This is about "moving." Not your opinion on it's legality.

Update on my new Apple iphone 18PM:
Battery now lasts for 4 days or 96 hours and the most drain is having the Tesla app running in the background and polling emails and Texts. My old 15PM was barely lasting 24 hours.

If you ponied up for an iPhone Duo, keep it away from anything other than your soft, fleshy fingertips. No fingernails, no dust, sand, dirt, or other particulate matter. And don't bend it more than it needs to. Zack has destroyed $2,000 of Apple hardware to get those views, which should cover his expenses.

Comcast is the first to report, with a massive 274,000 loss in video subscribers.

In the 3Q of 2016, Comcast had 21.42 million video subscribers and was the #1 provider, now at 10.39 million and is the #3 Provider, YTTV is #2 ( who also surpassed DirecTV-8 Million and Dish-under 5 Million), Charter/Spectrum is #1.

yes. even copper lines in a house degrade over 70 years, I doubt coax would last that long. Fiber Optic on the isp side will last over 70 years with very dedgration

Sometimes a thread gets so many posts in it that is can cause issues for the server so that why today we introduce The Song Name Game Part 3!

So let the game continue!

The last song was added by Bobby who posted...

One Meat Ball - Andrews Sisters

CONTINUE ON AND HAVE FUN! WELCOME HOME TO SATELLITEGUYS.US!

Here are the original rules for the game as posted by WebbyDude back in 2006. http://www.satelliteguys.us/threads/68645-Song-Name-Game

Just name a song title and the band who performed it. The next person does the same thing, but needs to list a song title or band name which includes a word from the previous entry. Pick songs from any genre.

Example:

Long Live Rock and Roll -- Rainbow

Rainbow in the Dark -- Dio

Another example:

Ride the Lightning -- Metallica

Lightning Strikes -- Ozzy Osbourne

Get it?

An additional note: we all know that song titles, sometimes, use profane words. Because this is a family friendly website it is advised that you clean up that title up a bit. This is accomplished by using something like sh!t instead of the real word. Thanks....

Well, the bag can't weigh that much, right? But by law food product packaging must display the actual net weight of the product, i.e., the contents of the container, so by any logic, if not law, a store's stated per-ounce cost should reflect that figure. But since there's not any law regulating shelf statements, a store can say whatever it wants without violating any rules. So I guess the answer is more consumer legislation. Or simply caveat emptor.

I would think that the Vendor/Maker of the product would have a say in it, showing the Correct weight ...
You would think it would be in the contract.

I do look at the ounces of items, but unless its way off, I don't check the math, may have to start now.

Remember when you use to get a 13.5 oz bag of Chips .... Thats a PARTY Size now.

Unless the specific product or its packaging is known at the time of weighing, estimating the tare weight for a PoS system is a tall order.

I'm pretty sure that produce bags can't get any thinner. ;)

You certainly don't want to put unbagged produce on a belt, scale, or in a clerk's hands (gloved or not).
I would think that all the packaging would already be accounted for ... they weigh the container, subtract that from the scale, then add the product , so its weighing the Product only

You would be thinking wrong when it comes to goods that are sold by weight (meat, produce, nails). Those items typically go on the scale wrapped without an associated tare. The weight only excludes the sticker because it hasn't been printed yet.

Perhaps only for sliced meat and cheese. Salads and similarly "shifty" or "drippy" items are typically weighed in deli cartons of some sort.

My monster burritos (up to two lbs.) are weighed in their foil jackets or paper mache take-out trays, and the jacket/tray is then "sealed" with the printed label as it comes off the printer.

Precision has to give way to practicality in situations like that.

I know HipKat said that they were working on conversions but we got the official news yesterday right from Dish that starting next month all DMA's will be on the western arc, and all customers will be assigned to that. That's gonna mean a lot of customers around here aren't gonna get Dish unless there are exceptions. Too many mountains and trees.

Looks like Charlie Ergen will never give up satellite TV. The reason Echostar 25 the most poweful DBS satellite ever built at 110 location already. Also Echostar 26 another super satellite on order for 119 orbital location will be ready in 15 months. he will have 110/119 for another 20 years. Dish will be the only satellte company left. The reason for rural areas and some people like satellite easy to operate and change channels in seconds.

I hope these new "most powerful" satellites will mean that DISH can provide every channel that can be sourced in HD in HD. I do not like the fact that two of my favorite channels (Start and H&I) are SD. I was also very disappointed after installation that METV has to be streamed from my internet connection. Finally, I dropped the locals upon seeing that my local CW channel is in blurry letterboxed SD when it has been HD OTA for years.

This piece gets me - the fact that Dish has removed SD channels from satellite completely in the name of "HD upgrades". I pay for satellite TV, not streaming...I don't see why they couldn't leave the SD version of the channels on Satellite then put the HD streaming version like they have for other channels.

At this point one can only ask whether any live ch's are still distributed in SD. Other than maybe "classics" ch's that run only older stuff

Even if you are broadcasting old SD-only shows, I would think advertisers would still want their commercials to look good.

Personally, I would HATE to see a SD Channel at this point.

Advertisers on SD channels are probably Far and Few, very hard to find, they have very few viewers to watch them.

I watch mostly SD channels (H&I, Start and ION, etc.). There are plenty of advertisers, this time of the year it is mostly Medicare Advantage plans, auto extended warranties and the occasional walk-in-tub. They know who is watching.

Now that I'm retired, obviously I have different health care insurance. I take 2 prescriptions. With my old insurance I didn't have to pay for either of them, now I do. It's not a huge amount but it led me to dig a little into the cost of prescription medications. I have been using Walgreens for the longest time. But what I found was that Walgreens price is 4.8 times more for one of my prescriptions and the other is 2.3 percent more compared to the lowest price pharmacy. If you pay for prescription medications you might want to have a look at trumprx and see if you can get a lower price.

I run them through several different providers to see who has the lowest cost

Usually it's Walmart or Sam's + GoodRx

Also...

You can also price them through the CareCard and WellRx apps.

Sometimes Amazon Pharmacy is cheapest.

I'm fortunate and don't take any medications. A couple years ago I had to take some antibiotics and used the GoodRx app. Went to Walmart and the person behind the desk knew me and told me to just buy them outright....the GoodRx price was a LOT higher. She said they aren't supposed to tell customers when they see they are being screwed.

That's ok. I probably take enough for the two of us.

God knows what Bobby takes. Maybe so much they count as a meal?

Actually I take just 2 prescriptions, Atorvastatin and Lisinopril. They cost me $6 each for 100 pills. Next year that will be nothing.

Those are two of the three I take.

Walmart and Sam's pharmacies have "zero rated" prescriptions lists where generics are $4 (or less). If yours are on that list, then of course GoodRx isn't going to help. Also, GoodRx isn't always the cheapest discount program. For me, the cheapest is usually Mark Cuban's Cost Plus Drugs.

My wife and I both take Gabapentin for nerve pain. With our Medicare Plan D plan it use to be free. Now we have to pay for it. Yesterday my wife got her prescription at CVS and the pharmacist dug around and got the cost cut in half with what he said was RX. I am guessing this was GoodRX.

Here in NY State, if you're 65 or older you're eligible for the state's EPIC (Elderly Pharmaceutical Insurance Coverage) Part D supplement that limits your maximum co-pay to $20. The co-pays range from $3 to $20 depending on the tier. The Part D included with my Advantage plan has many tier 1 drugs at no co-pay.
