An HR44 plus two HR24 equals 9 tuners, and if you have a regular SWM dish that will only support 8. You will need the LNB in the dish replacing, and then four cables to an SWM16 multiswitch.

Update...your right on the money Texasbrit.

This gets real weird. Tech gets here says I need upgrade kit.
Says he hopes I have an old dish. New dish will create too much work for him.
Says job to much for him. It will take 6 hours? Huh? I have the latest stuff installed
from dish to wiring. Needed 16 multi switch..thats it?

So, tech closed order and left.
On with direc and they said they will right
this wrong.

Usually direc home install is excellent.
Worst experience to date. Plus the dude left a mess
that i had to clean up.
Latter left out attic open and light on...

Plus had to take time off from work.....

I would be ticked off if that happened to me, especially if I take time off of work and nothing is done because he wasn't sure how to do his job.
And that is why some do their own installs simply for not trusting techs.

Direc out sources their tech work down in
South florida to a company called Mastec.
I guess it's a mixed bag you get what you get.

Dish networks install people are all dish
Employees. I like that better. Better control
Of who works for you.

So I'm still waiting for a return call from Direc
To resolve this mess. It's been 2 days.
Not so happy with them.

Just had my HR 44 installed this morning, an so far I love it. The HR 24 in the bedroom was continually locking up and needed replacement.
Because I had fullfilled my contract agreement, and had the Protection Plan, they put the HR 24 from the living room in the bedroom to replace the faulty one and the HR 44 in the living room. He also added the whole home service and connected me to the internet, and all it cost was $3 a month for the whole home service!
There was some confusion about charging me $49 to move the HR 24 into the bedroom, but because I wasnt informed of that beforehand, they waved the charge. The HR 44 is smaller than the HR 24, and seems faster to me. I feel I got a great deal, and am very happy! One note to be aware of....if you use a HD DVR instead of a client, you cant pause a program in one room and pick it up in the other. On the other hand, by using the HDDVR you gain two more tuners, more storage, and still have a receiver if the Genie goes down.

Btw mastec is what's called an hsp or home service provider. Hsps do all the labor for directv. Hsps can then further sub contract the work to independent guys or smaller 1099 companies. But mastec is one of the biggest hsps and these guys are actually what you would call in house techs. You may have gotten a lazy tech and that gives all of us a bad name or look but I think both hutch and myself have proved over the years that in house techs care about their jobs and take pride in their work just by our commitment here on unofficial tech support and advice otherwise.

Agreed! Also, dish network subs out a lot of work to contractors. All we have here in central indiana is dish contractors. I believe the closest place for true dish employees is Iowa. I may be wrong but from what remember that's closest to me

No insult intended. Yesterday I had another
Mastec tech finish the job that took less than
An hour. So, basically I got a bad egg the other day. Did not mean to generalize. There are some
Fantastic independent tech folks out there who
Truly care about their customers and their work.

Volcanic Eruptions

Continuing the Kilauea thread in the Pub here. Perhaps the Iceland one too next time there's remarkable activity.

Currently there is precursory lava flowing into the crater, leading to the next episode that'll probably start within the next day.

You can see the pace of inflation / deflation here. It serves as the primary predictor for when the expect the eruptions, which coincide w/ inflation turning into significant deflation and last for several hours on average with significant fountaining.

Oooo, quite the show now. All three vents have doming and overflows. The cone that built up around the North vent lost its upper quarter at 02:50 Oct 17 and is now spewing lava at a healthy rate. Don't know if I would say it's a fountain, but it's close.

Fountain heights are relatively low at about 100-150 feet (30-45 m), and it is not clear whether this episode will evolve to the same heights as previous episodes. Continuous overflows from the vents began yesterday, October 16, just before 6 a.m. HST and transitioned into episode 55 fountains at 3:19 a.m. HST this morning. The current forecast is for winds are blowing from the north-northeast direction, which suggests that volcanic gas emissions and volcanic material may be distributed to the south-southwest direction from Halemaʻumaʻu.
  • All eruptive vents and lava flows are confined to Halemaʻumaʻu crater within Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park. Tephra fall from volcanic ash clouds is greatest within 3 miles (5 km) of the vents, lighter ash and Pele's Hair may stay suspended for large distances from the vents.

Since it was already "paid" for, I spent the two hours of my time watching the John Cena action movie on Apple TV, "Matchbox The Movie" even though the reviews were brutal. It was better than I expected, so I didn't feel like I had wasted an afternoon watching it. But it felt like another "Reacher"/"Neghley"/"Mission: Impossible"/"Fast & Furious" crash and blow stuff up with lots of automatic gunfire mixed in movie featuring covert CIA operatives.

I don't think we'll get a follow-up movie from this. I expect Mattel will have other toy lines to exploit.

I will look, but I don't think I have seen it. Owen's breakfast sausage use to be favorite, but I can't find it anymore. Jimmy Dean's country mild is OK also when I can find it.

Swaggerty's isn't too bad, sausage prices are lower per lb than making my own from pork butts right now so I've been buying JC Potter or Owen lately.
(Swaggerty's at Sam's is pre cut, I usually partially freeze the rolls and cut with my slicer and vacuum seal on parchment paper)

owens on amazon is 54.99 for a 4 pk 16 oz a sausage. i feel that's kind of steep!!!

They run Owens at $3.99 for lb and $7.99 a couple times a month at some grocery stores here, I actually was wrong, just checked a pork sirloin roast it was $1.99 a lb. (cooked it yesterday so pack was in trash)

I don't think Tim and Tony are that far apart in Age ...

Remember what Tony said to Tim when they first got back together ...
Tony said: I am the New Tony, Tim .... (something to that effect)

Tony has changed, he's been running his Security Business ... I'm sure he has grown up.

Give it time ... your judging the New Tony from the old Tony.

It sounds like Tim won't be around the Team much longer either.

Tony was introduced to Gibbs and the team, on NCIS, which makes it the Mothership side of things, he worked in Baltimore prior to NCIS, NO mention when they met that anyone had known one another ...
