After years of tree grief, those idiot stinking trees are GONE!! WOO HOO!!
There was one of those Chinese Tallow trees that was right smack dead in the way of everything from 121 ----> on.
I subscribe to Dish and I don't have a clear LOS for the 61.5 satellite so I had to shoot for Ciel 2 at 129.
But even there there was a tree in the way. Only saving grace for me was that the tree was not all that healthy and the leaves were a little sparse.
When the wind would blow the tree would whip back and forth and cause me some annoying pixelation so recording wasn't advisable.
This tree caused me extreme grief back when I struggled to bring in White Springs which I still miss.. :cry:
I never could get it reliably enough to enjoy it like I hoped for.
I've had grief with 123. I wanted to get FSTV but thanks to the tree, that wasn't happening.
And of course 125 with PBS channels has been so troublesome that I had mostly given up on it too.
Fortunately for me, my neighbor who is a really nice guy was looking at the trees and after he and I discussed the many times they have dropped limbs on our power and utility wires over the years, he decided to have all the trees down the fence line cut all the way to the ground! YES!!
I was horrified though to come outside during the cutting down to discover that the tree guy had thrown a big rope over my power line and internet line to pull them out of the way, he tied the rope around my motorized dish !!
And that dish, of all the dishes he could have picked, was the worst choice! That dish gives me sooooooo much trouble because it's loose in the ground from the drought. All it takes is just a tiny bit of movement and it's out of commission.
I had been in the house mostly but I had walked out to check on things and saw what he did. So I said something to him about it and he said "It's ok, I shook it pretty hard and it's solid, it won't go anywhere"..
Um, well, yes it did. It went off alignment. He really dorked it up and I can't hit anything on it now. I guess I need to just go dig that pole out since it's too short anyway and has some jerry-rigged adapter thing to make it taller.
My dog runs around with a LOG as her chew stick, a 25lb LOG and she whacks the LNB pretty hard as she runs past so I had to put a piece of lawn furniture in front of it so she'll go around and not hit it.
So yeah, it's time to do something about that but it still ticks me off the tree guy just jumped my fence and tied to that dish without even asking me first.
ANYWAY........ Never again will I have a tree problem! Now, if I could just get the stinkin pecan trees next door cut down that hang waaaaaaay over into my yard and block me from hitting everything between 72w and the horizon.
Since they hang over the fence into my yard I can cut them and the guy next door is cool with me having it done. I just have to come up with the $$ for it. Eh.. Not overly important. The rest of the sky is open and clear now so that is a HUGE improvement.

Ok, so yesterday I finally decided it was time to switch out the LNBF on my 10' dish with a new C1PLL I've had since the winter.
I bought two of them before it was ever announced that they would one day have a C2PLL.
Since I have the intention of having two C band dishes aimed at SES-1 and SES-2 and that each would stay parked there and that each one would be dedicated to just one network per dish, I wasn't too worried about limitations of having single polarity dishes.
I had a difficult time with the new LNBF because the skew markings on it are not the same as the one I took out. I do not know which one is proper though.
After a lot of contemplation I decided that I would ignore the markings and put the new LNBF back in place in the same orientation as the old one.
I used a 3x4 switch (or is it a splitter?) to be able to feed two wires from one LNBF. This will work just fine until I buy a few of the new C2PLL LNBFs.
I tipped the dish waaaaaay over and got on a ladder and it wasn't all that bad, except for the miserable heat.
While I was out there, I bolted an old chain to the dish so that it's impossible for it to have an accidental tip over. I had several of those a few years back.
And if there is a hurricane coming I can pull it tight so the dish will be locked in place.
So I tried to find the Luken stuff on 87 but I had no luck.
I suspect my dish is not at all properly aligned. Once I get my new meter I'll see what I can do about it.
So I swung it back to SES-1 and decided to leave this dish dedicated to MeTV.
I bumped it back and forth and discovered that I can be a LOT off and still get a rock solid signal with the PLL.
I found the middle point and reset the G-box programming for this new spot.
I got a SOLID, 90% / 70% signal. It was unwavering. Previously it would fluctuate a fair bit.
Question 1 is, is the 90/70 the best signal I can get with a MicroHD ?
Also, I found some new channels on the MeTV transponder. I know they have a backup for the main channel.
Did they also create a backup to Movies! as well? Movies! is now on the frequency that ThisTV used to be on and this unlisted channel is on the original Movies! frequency.
Later I am going to have some questions about how to do a proper C-band alignment but I would need to wait until I have the new meter.
Oh, and on SES-2, are there any old school non S2 signals in the C-band that I can find with my old non-S2 meters? Or is everything on there (in C-band) now S2?

Ok, this is also good to know! I was ASSUMING this to be the case though I wasn't sure. This may explain why I've had such a miserable time trying to align my C-band BUD.

For quite a while now, people with a VIP211k have been losing their recordings on their activated external HDDs... even when there's nothing physically wrong with HDD. I believe this is an intentional and underhanded tactic that Dish is pulling in an attempt to force users away from the VIP211k.
They are obviously regretting that they ever let users have a "non-dvr" dvr in the first place. You would think they would be happy charging you a $40 one time fee... and then be happy letting the customer be the one responsible for HDD failures.
Dish clearly hates the 211k bitter-clingers. This recording deletion problem is intentional (IMO), and I think it is just one more tool that they are using. Hopper and a 2-year agreement... that's what they want you to have. Think about that... a 2-year agreement... with a company $30 Billion in debt (that's with a B). What happens when all that debt causes them to drop the channel that may have been your whole reason for having Dish in the first place? Guess who's stuck with a service that no longer suits their needs... for the remainder of the 2-year agreement.
On top of that, they don't want you to install it yourself. I purchased and installed all my equipment myself. That used to be common. Now, they lie to me and tell me that my dish must be updated to use a Hopper. Funny thing is... they don't even know what dish I have because they didn't install it, and I didn't tell them. If you ask what type of dish/LNBs the hopper needs... good luck getting an answer. All they know is that whatever you have needs to be upgraded by an installer.
It is quite apparent to me that they care much more about staying in their box, than they do working with the customer. That's too bad, because it hasn't always been that way. It's like they are totally unaware of the current business environment that they are trying to compete in.
I have been a customer since 2010. I will be cancelling my service before the next period. Yeah, I know, my $1,200 a year won't make a difference to them. It just seems like they have forgotten who needs who, especially when you consider the competition in today's streaming world. But hey, they will have succeed in forcing me off the 211k.

Has anyone subscribed to NBA League Pass for 2026-27 and try to link their account to NBA.com to stream League Pass? I purchased it for 2026-27, and when I linked, I got a message saying success, but then I receive an error that my linked subscription does not include the preseason games for NBA League Pass. Is that how it has always been? I know satellite doesn't have the preseason games on the NBA League Pass channels, but I thought that I was able to stream the preseason once I linked my account on NBA.com?

For some reason, the satelliteguys.us site is loading a lot slower than usual on both Chrome on my Asus laptop and Safari on my iPhone.
I'm also seeing longer appearances of the blue bar at the top and the "3 blue bars" loading symbol.
Is anyone else also having the same problem? Thanks in advance.

I thought I would come here and find lots of complaints about the update to the dish anywhere mobile app, but am not seeing any. It used to look just like the desktop webpage. Now you can no longer filter by sports channels or movie channels. Plus that they made it look like a big button telephone and you see fewer channels in the screen which requires more scrolling. Yes I realize you can look at sports then select which sport you want to look at, I just liked being able to see all sporting events in the guide with all other channels being filtered out. Am I alone in the wilderness on this?

Not for me, mines has no mention of how long aka the offer period and the Terms and conditions the $0.00 is good for. All I see is one can lose $5.00 if you decide to remove it before day 31 after you add it to the account.
You have a different offer that is free for a shorter timeframe which is different than the one that I and bnewt saw without defining the promotion period as I sent the question to DISH Care via Facebook Messenger and this is the response I got back 20 minutes ago.
