Cox Data Caps meant to end or cash in on tv streaming

Cox instigated 1TB caps with $10 for every 50GB in overages for all packages except gigablast, which is 2TB. I have yet to meet anyone that has gigablast around here. It is supposedly available some where in the metro.

I already use between 650-750GB a month just with casual online viewing of Netflix, Amazon, WatchESPN, etc.. Guess I wont be going to full time streaming anytime soon. $90 a month for 150MB service is high enough, let alone if I were to start going over. Cox basically can do what they want as the only other choice for me is Windstream which lists blazing fast 3MB DSL as the fastest available in my neighborhood.

Cox online reps are deflecting inquiries saying they have new internet packages coming out later this year including an unlimited option. My guess is they will double the price for unlimited

This is just the beginning. Wait till all the providers have their own streaming services that have all the bugs worked out.

The next phase will to limit the type of data in buckets, and link the lower introductory prices to less data.

They will start by lowering streaming to 300 GB/mo and offer higher data caps for more money.

The game will then be buy your streaming video from your internet provider of pay more for internet service.

Ofcourse streaming video purchased from the internet provider will have no data caps.

It's coming. The internet providers are no longer going to put up with providing more bandwidth so you can bypass their video service.

Then ATSC 3.0 comes around, and every station has a ton of sub-channels!

So, for people that can receive OTA, they will have plenty to watch without streaming.

You seem to be making an assumption that (sub-)channel count means new or otherwise compelling content. Pay TV plexes and a significant number of broadcast TV networks that show "classic" TV have shown that this is absolutely not a reasonable assumption; more channels means primarily more commercials per hour for the caster.

Until DTV broadcast stations start being re-purposed or dismantled after a successful conversion to a new broadcast television standard, I'd wager there's not going to be a lot of subchannels go live that we don't already have.

Because it is getting more and more difficult to monetize OTA, I can't see it growing that much as a medium as compared with streaming.

I 100% agree. I don't get the allure of FREE over the air TV and it's dozens of 480i subchannels. Sports are about the only thing on OTA that I find compelling. Cookie cutter shows that involve the NCIS solving crimes in Chicago in 43 minutes or less don't interest me. Judge Shows don't interest me, estrogen infused round table shows with bitter angry women don't interest me, tabloid gossip celebrity worship shows don't interest me.

The subchannels are something that I never really understood. Who wants to watch stuff in SD? Who wants to watch old movies in SD that are edited for content? People complain about cable companies over compressing, when in order for an OTA station to have a full slate of subschannels, bandwidth is being cannibalized from the main feed. Spectrum carries 11 subchannels in my area, I think that's just about all of them. But they're constantly changing. We lost either Get or Grit recently and got TBD, around the same time we lost a country music channel and it was replaced with I don't know what. I don't pay attention much since the subchannels are in the upper 1200 channel range, out of sight out of mind, but it seems like two or three of them change affiliations every year.

To each their own. I would rather watch something I've never seen even if it's black and white and in SD than continue paying for the endless reruns of crap on the majority of the pay channels. Dvr makes the commercials meaningless just like with pay tv's commercial laden channels.

That's why I find shows via other means, from other countries that are never shown in the US. I would gladly pay for them, but we aren't given that choice.

As long as I can get a few sports channels and basic cable channels for $35 or less with no equipment fees from cable, I'll continue paying. If the bundle price goes much more than that it will become expendable too.

I have been preaching that is what will happen for years.... If traditional TV isn't making enough money they will get it back from streaming.

SD on the sub channels isn't bad usually. We get alot of use from OTA in Tampa seems like there is always something on we want to watch, the classic comedy shows are still funny. (Taxi, Cheers, Barney Miller, Newhart(s) etc)

Caught up to the 500... err... k in St. Louis. What a race! Andretti Motorsport were doing very well with Ericsson and Kirkwood, meanwhile Power was moving up the grid. Veekay started cautiously. He was working the tires just right, becoming more lethal later in the stint. Rasmussen was racing likewise, not nearly as insane as he has in the past. Palou was leading the race, in a shocker to all. Caio Collet was having a wonderful ride, making Ferucci potentially sweat a bit. Rain came, rain went, rain came, rain went. Generally mild sprinkles, but enough to pause racing on an oval.

Palou would kind of send Siegel into the wall. Siegel really didn't do much wrong. As he noted, you have to turn at some point. Palou had acres of room below and Siegel might have had his ticket out of Indycar stamped. Dixon was doing the fuel thing and got busted twice by yellows, not pitting before the flag came out. Then the most critical happened... Palou ran out of gas on pit lane, effectively giving Newgarden the race lead and win. Newgarden had a very early pit, so he was able to slide in, get service and go. Meanwhile, everyone else was confused and stuck behind Palou for a bit. Once people figured what was happening, Newgarden had a major advantage of several seconds. Newgarden wouldn't look back and when it went green again, he'd hold the lead for the win.

Massive credit to Juncos Hollinger who bested Penske in getting Veekay out before Malukas in a transition that was oddly bizarre. I haven't had time to check, but I'm wondering if Veekay was about to run out of fuel or cut a tire. He was charging late in a stint, got up to fifth, and then tailed back for a few laps to 10th or 11th. It looked like it was over. Went into the pits, and after the pitting sequence was over, Veekay was well inside the top ten again. It was weird. And he charged, getting up to fourth. He made a late move on Rasmussen, but Rasmussen held his position with some great driving. In fact, there was a ton of incredible racing passing, not passing all race long. Veekay would finish 4th. A podium would have been awesome, but it is a great outcome for a guy who hopefully will get a break with a big team. We saw what Veekay could do with a Honda last season with fuel save, imagine replacing Simpson on Ganassi and having speed to go with fuel saving. His 6th at Indy and 4th at St. Louis get him up to 13th in the points standings and only 5 points outside of the top 10.

Ericsson finished second, resigned to finishing behind the current best in the world guy on a short oval. Rasmussen got the final step on the podium, a nice rebound to what has been an otherwise bad year for him, and a good reward to ECR who just extended his contract.

They raced USAC cars at Daytona once. Once! People died. Aj Foyt said 'f this', and left after the first go around. AJ freaking Foyt thought it was crazy! And cars weren't nearly as fast as they are now.

Brave Browser for Androud

I have had good experiences with Brave but lately I am frustrated with it.

Now when I launch the app it shows a box at the bottom asking if I want to go back to the last opened page. It is in conveniently located and I would prefer to eliminate it.

Does anyone know how to do this?

Please let's not sidetrack the discussion into an exploration of why I don't care for it or a lecture about all the wonderful aspects of the feature. I just do not care for it.

I don't have an Android phone so I don't know if this will apply to the Brave settings on your android device but it works on the desktop for me.

Change this setting to either startup to a different website or a new tab page. I have mine set to open to google.com instead of where I left off and it doesn't ask me at the next startup if I want to open the last opened page unless it crashed.

Thank you for trying to help. However thrse choices do not appear in Android. There is a setting for "New Tab Pages" that is similar but does not include your choice. I have tried all of the existing entries with no success

Option 2: Set a custom Home button URL

Click the menu icon in the top-right corner and select Settings.
Click on Appearance in the left sidebar.
Toggle on the Show home button switch.
Under the home button settings, select the option to Enter custom web address and type in your preferred website. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

These are severely limited. Getting better than stereo audio is improving, but still has a long way to go.

Tapatalk Removed

Due to security concerns and the fact that the Tapatalk Plugin for Xenforo is no longer being updated we have removed Tapatalk support from SatelliteGuys.

For those who were using it we recommend using our PWA App instead which is faster and does not have all the spam Tapatalk had. Below is a graphic showing how to add SatelliteGuys to your devices home screen. (While iOS is shown the process is mostly the same for Android.)

Thanks for your understanding.

What is PWA app? PWA utilities seem to be a Spanish app. I hope you are seeing this since nothing seems to be working. I will miss SatelliteGuys. Tapatalk worked well. The Siri browser doesn't seem to work well.

Actually, PWA stands for "Progressive Web Application" and is basically just saving a site's homepage to your desktop where it appears as an "App" with the rest of your smartphone's Apps.

New low power station with CP has been granted. "Albuquerque "

New low power station has been granted by the FCC and the new call leter is K33OB-D on RF ch. 33.

Will run at 15 KW ERP, this one runs from the Westside same location as KWPL-LD a HC2 owned station.

It's going to be aimed at eastern part of Albuquerque, so it's tightly focused beam pattern.

This new station is owned by Digital Network and what kind of programmings is unkown at this time.

Yeah, there are some diginets like Heartland, Retro, The Family Channel diginetworks that we already have here in this market and we don't need duplicates, but bring the new diginets on like the Rev'n, Karate Acton movies, different kind of music videos on the new station. :hatsoff2

I watch MovieSphere Gold channel a lot. Many recent movies on that digitnet
