For the past couple of weeks, I have been unable to access SatelliteGuys using the Firefox browser using the command SatelliteGuys.US. Instead, I get the message on the first page of the attached file. If I try the webpage just using SatelliteGuys.US, I get the message on the second page. I am able to access SatelliteGuys using both the Chrome and Edge browsers.

Thanks,

Dave

Nah. I didn't mention the model of router. But note. It had a processor that was unsupported on the aforementioned third party firmwares. You kinda' answered your own statement as it did not contain a BCM chipset. Or Marvell.
If it was Marvell it could have been one not yet having source code. It didn't really matter.
On my trip at the bar in question past Teddy to grab his pen and round table to grab the stapler. The issue was identified. A solution was found. Short of purchasing a new unit. And smiles abounded.
No biggie really. Nothing to do at all with site connectivity here as in post #1.
Looking at an R7000 with its flashy led's a few feet away. It had Vortex. It wouldn't do an AiMesh with an RT-68. And WDS not one bit at all. With dd-wrt from using client bridge (which always worked well) WDS setup and ran perfectly.
Not bad huh? I mean. For not attending haaavaaad. Probably because I love to drive and paaakin' da' caaaa woulda' been a pain. Pfsense, pfnonsense, jtag, serial, bla bla. Done it, do it.
Oh. Even after a factory reset on the bar router. A firmware back step wasn't possible. Yeahhh.
Sometimes. Believe it or not. Dipping your toes in the lake, sitting on the dock. With a cane pole and a can of worms is pretty relaxing. Try it sometimes. With a can of beer even. And just be stupid for a bit. But smarter than the fish hopefully. You may meet your match!

Interesting since I thought all Linksys routers in the last 16 years were Broadcom based, I knew some were Marvell but never really paid attention to the Marvell models. I prefer Qualcomm Atheros over Broadcom. I know others have the Netgear R7000 with XWRT-Vortex and it did AiMesh fine with the RT-68, other ASUS models and even another Netgear R7000 running XWRT-Vortex which is covered in the thread here as I also use a R7000 with XWRT-Vortex:

Anyways back to the original topic, I always have a tab on the browser that is dedicated to this site and it ofcourse sleeps when I am not in front of the keyboard but what I noticed is the problem usually happens when I hit reply on a post after reading a thread, never happened when I am creating a post is that the site will not finish showing the page as the two blue things as shown below which is at the top of the browser window immediately under the browser address bar with the red arrows are moving from left to right in a scanning pattern non-stop until actually refresh the page which will show the 500 access denied error or until I delete the cookies for the site in the browser which the browser will show a reload button on the page as the cookies have been cleared. I can access the site fine logged in as myself from another browser so the firewall on satelliteguys is not really blocking the IP as shown but is related to the cookies used. This event actually happened about 8 minutes ago.

arlo - Do you know what version of the R7000 you were using as Netgear had both the original R7000 which was known now as the version 1 and what XWRT-Vortex worked on and then a few years later, they introduced a R7000 v2 which was a new model using the older R7000 name which doesn't work with XWRT-Vortex which came to mind after my last response. And a FYI is I visit this site and others to help people with their problem for free and my time visiting other places s limited since I have to take care and watch my 95 year old mom who lives with me in case of falls, etc so I am not on here because I have nothing else to do as most of my interests are personal hobbies and interests that I do without pay, has nothing to do with what I do for a living but things I have a interest in since I was about 8 years old which was 41 years ago. I never charge anyone to help them regardless if it took an hour or a week since I don't sleep until I fix whatever issue they need help with including with customers who aren't even customers any longer. And no, my income does not come from NASA either as that's just pocket change as I make more in my investments while sleeping in a day than a majority of people make a year so every minute of my time is $25 or more of passive income in the background so while you may not consider browsing forums and communicating on forums as fun, it's one of my interests out of the many thousands. Besides, would we all be on the forums regularly if it wasn't a interest. This is just one of the many thousands of communicating I do on one day alone on the personal side of life that is earth based. Everything else is technically out of this world when it comes to the profession. As I menioned, I also own and run a ISP remotely in Hawaii so I do all the engineering and also act as the 24/7/365 NOC (Network Operations Center) being the only person operating it without any assistants which is also a hobby as I have not seen a red penny for the last 31 years.

Wasn't exactly sure where to post this. Just had a customer come in inquiring about internet. He has HughesNet and had heard good things about mine. He asked if we provided email addresses and it kinda caught me off guard. I said he should be able to keep whatever email he had been using....my sister in law is still using a BellSouth email addy and they haven't been around here for many years. He said he had gotten a letter from HughesNet stating that they had until Nov 16th to save, move, forward, whatever, their Hughesnet emails because they would lose them after that date.

I have never heard of a company simply mass-deleting email accounts (the customer still has his HughesNet service). From what I understand, in the past, the company who was ditching their email service simply sold the customer base to a company like Google.

Anyone else getting this letter. He said he would show it to me tomorrow when I go out there and set up his internet.

Doing a Google of the HughesNet Email notice, it seems that HughesNet has been trying to eliminate hosting emails since 2019. And with HughesNet filing Chapter 11 back in August, it would be a smart move to switch to a more stable Email provider. Even AT&T farmed out their Email to Yahoo! years ago.

SpaceX's Starlink and the Cellular 5G Home Internet solutions have pretty much relegated HughesNet and its high latency, low bandwidth Internet service to History. If Earth had shorter days, maybe a Geostationary Internet Solution might have stood a fighting chance…

Finished it this evening. General impressions with no story spoilers, but will spoil it anyways as it just came out today.

Not quite as impactful of a finale as past seasons I thought, we'll see how far down the rabbit hole things go as the latest plot twists and turns unravel. Thought this season had a full episode or two too much rom-com style disagreements, but it was more or less paid off later. Ultimately didn't enjoy that being more of a throughline in the stories this season compared to what I remember of the priors.

My least favorite of the 3 seasons, but still very good. Really wonder how far they'll go with things, hard to see a nuclear attack or something ever actually happening. They just had a better story to tell and more meaningful beats in the prior season.

Regarding the no sound bug when watching 4K HDR events or DVR recordings with Dolby set to ON:
I got rolled back to H708 last night after getting an email from the support team. It fixed the bug.

The email indicated that they believed they found the issue, and if the fix works, they would roll it out via an update in the coming weeks.

So... we should see that bug exterminated in the near future.

Hmmm, I'm not seeing anything like those events in our Hopper 3 guide for tonight or Saturday.🙁

I went into the Tools menu and requested a Guide Update. I'll try looking at it after the update completes.

edit — I now have the 148-01 4KFox events for Saturday, but not anything for 148-02 or 148-03 which don't even show as available channels. I do have 148-04 4KUSA.

Apple has finally released their Apple TV 4K with built-in Siri and a microphone so it can respond to your queries even if you don't have the remote. It also increases in price, to $299. I had been planning on updating my current Apple TV 4K streamers, but that's $600 for the two of them, and that's a pass at this point.

At $299, it had better come with 256 GB of Storage, Gigabit (or better) Ethernet, the latest HDMI tech and standards, and one year of free Apple One. But it probably won't…

Meh. The 4Ks I have will do everything that these do that I need them to do.

Which that's most tech these days for anything released the last four to five years.

It's honestly a testament to how good the previous gen Apple TVs were and are.

The only thing I can see that is compelling is the AV1 decoding done in the A19's hardware instead of the current ATV4K's processor.

Not a bit. IMO, apple's are slow to boot up. Time is about the same with 1st gen and 3rd. Roku runs rings around them in that department. I only stick I with the Apple tv's is the Apple infrastructure, which has it's definite advantages. But $300 is not worth sticking with it. Later, Apple!

PISTONS and THUNDER are finally testing on the stream server. PISTONS is showing the Ion/Scripps Sports promo loop filler that their NHL and WNBA feeds have, THUNDER has a "You are watching Thunder+" slate

The Clippers still haven't officially announced their TV plans beyond 10 simulcasts on KTLA, but the NBA's FAQ for ClipperVision is now live. The CLIPPERS feed is currently showing a loop of their Hawaii preseason game.

The Heat still haven't announced their West Palm Beach or Fort Myers affiliates. Since WPLG is streaming the games for free via their app, I doubt we'll be seeing the return of WPLG on stream.

So far nothing testing for the Bucks, Magic, Hawks or Hornets.

Also, the Thunder's deal for KSBI/52 OKC and KQCW/19 Tulsa will be via a special cable and DIRECTV only feed of those stations. OTA viewers and Dish customers will be limited to 10 games.

For quite a while now, people with a VIP211k have been losing their recordings on their activated external HDDs... even when there's nothing physically wrong with HDD. I believe this is an intentional and underhanded tactic that Dish is pulling in an attempt to force users away from the VIP211k.

They are obviously regretting that they ever let users have a "non-dvr" dvr in the first place. You would think they would be happy charging you a $40 one time fee... and then be happy letting the customer be the one responsible for HDD failures.

Dish clearly hates the 211k bitter-clingers. This recording deletion problem is intentional (IMO), and I think it is just one more tool that they are using. Hopper and a 2-year agreement... that's what they want you to have. Think about that... a 2-year agreement... with a company $30 Billion in debt (that's with a B). What happens when all that debt causes them to drop the channel that may have been your whole reason for having Dish in the first place? Guess who's stuck with a service that no longer suits their needs... for the remainder of the 2-year agreement.

On top of that, they don't want you to install it yourself. I purchased and installed all my equipment myself. That used to be common. Now, they lie to me and tell me that my dish must be updated to use a Hopper. Funny thing is... they don't even know what dish I have because they didn't install it, and I didn't tell them. If you ask what type of dish/LNBs the hopper needs... good luck getting an answer. All they know is that whatever you have needs to be upgraded by an installer.

It is quite apparent to me that they care much more about staying in their box, than they do working with the customer. That's too bad, because it hasn't always been that way. It's like they are totally unaware of the current business environment that they are trying to compete in.

I have been a customer since 2010. I will be cancelling my service before the next period. Yeah, I know, my $1,200 a year won't make a difference to them. It just seems like they have forgotten who needs who, especially when you consider the competition in today's streaming world. But hey, they will have succeed in forcing me off the 211k.

Actually, it is. A couple of people PMed me when I posted this, and when I asked for an address, they never responded. Then I just sort of let it go. Send me a PM to continue the discussion

Well, after nine months of being on pause, I finally figured out that I was wasting $5 a month. So I cancelled. For the first time since 2010, I no longer have a Dish account.

I do have to say that I did appreciate the account pause option. That just gives a person some time to see what the fallout of cancelling will be... without having to go all the way over the cliff first.

Since I never once had an "oh shoot, I need Dish Network for..." moment, the decision was a lot easier.

Funny enough, when I called to cancel (for real, not playing the pricing game), all of a sudden, they were offering me deals that I was told before that I couldn't get without changing out my VIP211k. Now, I could have had those specials with them just sending me a new card for the receiver. LOL!

Of course, my mind was already made up because of having not missed the service while on pause. That, and the fact that I bet the 211k still kills recordings.

All in all, I'm glad that I had Dish for all those years. I just outgrew the need, and they pressed the issue by deleting recordings. I would have eventually went this route without the deleted recordings issue. But, for sure, that did hasten the outcome.

I'll still pop in at this site from time to time. Believe it or not, I still have a C/Ku BUD that I intend on playing with again if life ever slows down.
