Finally, some correct numbers, the biggest surprise was DirecTV Stream with only 600,000.

This is a service that started a year before YTTV, as DirecTV Now, but yet, YTTV has 8.5 Million.

Other points-

Based on the 500,000 gain YTTV had in the 1st quarter, if that is the average gain for the rest of the following quarters, along with the average loss of 500,000 per quarter for DirecTV ( currently at 10.5 Million total for the entire company), that means YTTV will become the #3 Provider by the end of 2024.

This should also should help put to bed the myth that people really care about their RSNs, if so, they would of switched to DirecTV Stream, which carries them without a RSN fee, but it seems the majority do not care.

vMVPD services with the RSNs-2.1 Million

vMVPD services without the RSN-15.8 Million

YTTV has won, it is the future of Paid Live TV, it is Larger Than Hulu + Live TV, DIRECTV STREAM, & Fubo Combined

Already has more subscribers then Dish+Sling, in just 7 years, surpassed a company that has been providing service for 28 years, by the end of the year, should surpass DirecTV , a company providing service for 30 years.

I just left Disney, now work for a Media Finance Group, everything gets leaked to the financial journalists.
Yes, there are, indeed, a multitude of possibilities as to where the article's author may have derived the DIRECTV STREAM subscriber numbers, including, but not likely, a "leak."

That said, my own suspicion is that as is the case with so many current-day so-called "journalists," he merely concocted a number he liked, got comfortable with it, and then just plugged it in.

The above notwithstanding, if you have any actual evidence to the contrary, I am all ears (eyes).

You did not even know that DirecTV subscriber number were still publicly available-
Since DIRECTV stopped reporting subscriber numbers when they went private in 2021
Which, like the Stream numbers, I posted a link for.

Instead of questioning sources, should be more worried that DirecTV is still losing 500,000 subs a quarter on average and will drop under 10 Million as of the second quarter.

By the way, those numbers reported for the other streaming services were correct, no real reason to disbelieve the Stream numbers.

As previously stated, DIRECTV subscriber numbers are not publicly available, nor have they been since 2021. Your repost of the same chart reporting the same unverifiable DIRECTV STREAM numbers changes none of that.

Oh, and why would I be at all "worried" that DIRECTV, or any other MVPD, is losing "subs?" It's just TV...

you are ignoring this post-

I do not know where they received the numbers, but the numbers for each DirecTV service are out there now, since AT&T is putting up their 70% of the company for sale this August, any Financial Group or Journalists has access.

I do have this, Fitch Ratings last reported the numbers a few months ago for the company as a whole-

DIRECTV's video subscriber base (combined DIRECTV, U-verse, DIRECTV Stream) is the third largest traditional multi-channel video programming distributor (MVPD) in the U.S. with approximately 11.3 million subscribers at the end of 3Q23.

So with a average of 500,000 lost per quarter ( also in that report), that gives them a total of 10.3 Million as of now.

It is easy to figure out the average of losses, from the first link-

U.S. with approximately 13.3 million subscribers at the end of 3Q22,

Second link-

U.S. with approximately 11.3 million subscribers at the end of 3Q23.

So that is 2 Million gone in 4 Quarters ( a year), a average of 500,000

You posted that the link for Stream numbers might be incorrect, yet you offered no evidence for that assumption, I, at least, did put up links, yet you put it on me to prove they were correct.

I "ignored" nothing, and, in fact, specifically addressed every salient point, so let me try one more time, after which I am through with both you and this thread.

Based upon the author's lack of citation with regard to how he either obtained or derived the DIRECTV STREAM subscriber numbers, and given the fact that DIRECTV has not publicly released subscriber numbers since 2021 (both of which are statements of fact, aka "evidence," upon which I based my opinion), it is my suspicion/opinion that he merely made them up.

The above notwithstanding, if you, or anyone else has any factual (evidentiary) data to the contrary, I am most certainly open to it, otherwise, I am done with you in particular and this nonsensical thread in general.

That is how journalism works, unnamed sources, because if he names them, they will, at least, no longer provide information or at risk of losing their employment.
and given the fact that DIRECTV has not publicly released subscriber numbers since 2021
But they have, I have already posted the link twice, just because they are no longer in the quarterly report does not mean they are not released.

Fitch's Ratings is one source, AT&T reports the subscriber numbers to them, then they write their reports, which is available publicly as my link has proven.

That is the evidence the company is still losing 500,000 a quarter and with the 2nd quarter almost complete, based on the average, dropped under 10 Million subscribers.
(both of which are statements of fact, aka "evidence," upon which I based my opinion), it is my suspicion/opinion that he merely made them up.
But the point you are missing, your suspicion/opinion is not evidence they are incorrect.

I know they are not because of my employment, but I have no evidence beyond that , hence why I posted the link, which I would not of done so if it was incorrect.
The above notwithstanding, if you, or anyone else has any factual (evidentiary) data to the contrary,
Again, you are the one challenging the data, it is up to you to prove it is erroneous.

Disclaimer: I worked for an actual news organization that was 150+ years old when I left after 12 years.

Journalism is absolutely about having multiple data sources to corroborate assertions. What is published in the link you provided is not journalism. At best, it is market analysis, which is a different thing with a much lower standard of confidence in sources. At worst, it is the internet equivalent of the cable news catch phrase "some people are saying."

But that still does not disprove the numbers, specially since all the other ones listed match up to what has been reported .

As far as we know, he did have the data from different sources.

But RaiderPower posted the numbers were false, so it should be up to him to prove that assertion.

I love the debate, but I would prefer some evidence other then opinions.

By the way, I posted this back in March, which helps back up the subscriber numbers-

My numbers from work is DirecTV Stream and by Internet, have less then 1.5 Million together vs the 8 Million YTTV have.

The numbers maybe accurate or not. We can't really know without the companies actually reporting them which they don't. I am just saying I view the numbers with a skeptical eye due to the source. Either way, it doesn't look good for D* Stream.

DirecTV subscriber numbers popped up on Fitch-

DIRECTV's video subscriber base is the third largest traditional multi-channel video programming distributor (MVPD) in the U.S. with about 10.1 million subscribers at the end of 2Q24.

So with the estimated total losses of 1-1.5 Million for Q3 and 4, Q3 being extremely high due to the Disney/ESPN dispute, DirecTV as a total could be under 9 Million Subscribers.

Just 8 years ago, Q1 2017, DirecTV had 21 Million subscribers, so a loss of, estimated, 12 Million.

So either by the end of Q4 2024 or Q1 2025, YTTV, only one service, will pass DirecTV (four-Uverse, Stream, by internet, Satellite) and become the number 3 Provider.

Pretty great, since YTTV has only been providing service since 2017, 8 years, versus DirecTV, which started almost 31 years ago.

For some reason, the satelliteguys.us site is loading a lot slower than usual on both Chrome on my Asus laptop and Safari on my iPhone.
I'm also seeing longer appearances of the blue bar at the top and the "3 blue bars" loading symbol.
Is anyone else also having the same problem? Thanks in advance.

Wasn't exactly sure where to post this. Just had a customer come in inquiring about internet. He has HughesNet and had heard good things about mine. He asked if we provided email addresses and it kinda caught me off guard. I said he should be able to keep whatever email he had been using....my sister in law is still using a BellSouth email addy and they haven't been around here for many years. He said he had gotten a letter from HughesNet stating that they had until Nov 16th to save, move, forward, whatever, their Hughesnet emails because they would lose them after that date.

I have never heard of a company simply mass-deleting email accounts (the customer still has his HughesNet service). From what I understand, in the past, the company who was ditching their email service simply sold the customer base to a company like Google.

Anyone else getting this letter. He said he would show it to me tomorrow when I go out there and set up his internet.

Doing a Google of the HughesNet Email notice, it seems that HughesNet has been trying to eliminate hosting emails since 2019. And with HughesNet filing Chapter 11 back in August, it would be a smart move to switch to a more stable Email provider. Even AT&T farmed out their Email to Yahoo! years ago.

SpaceX's Starlink and the Cellular 5G Home Internet solutions have pretty much relegated HughesNet and its high latency, low bandwidth Internet service to History. If Earth had shorter days, maybe a Geostationary Internet Solution might have stood a fighting chance…

Well, I helped him set up a gmail acct....I actually wanted to see what the new process is for setting up a gmail acct since it had been years since I set mine up. Anyway, I showed him how to forward the emails he wanted to keep over.

Can't help but wonder if a worker overlooked checking the harness. I rarely ride a roller coaster anymore but when I do I check the harness myself pretty aggressively.

Back on the Goliath Roller Coaster ... I'm interested to find more details as well ...
Like where on the track did this happen (somewhere I read that it was on the climb up the top), which is impossible ...

They really need to take that ride and add at the very least, seatbelts ...

The Park is opening back up on Friday, the ride will Not be opening ... personally, I would keep it closed until different type of restraints can be designed and installed (over the winter).

I find it hard to believe that this ride is even allowed to be running with the restraints that exist at the moment, there are other rides that use the same type and they have been shut down across the country.

You got to believe that every ride has at least 2 types of restraint systems in place.

I wonder what and when we will hear from the Manufacturer ... and whatever governing bodies control these ...

Just think, this is a Major Amusement Park .... I would not have any problem getting on the Roller Coasters I have rode ...

Imagine what these County Fairs and others like them, I would not be caught Dead on one of them ... they get put up and tore down every other week, where is the safety for those rides ... No Thank You.

Had no idea there were that many redundancies built into those restraints.

Had no idea there were that many redundancies built into those restraints.
It makes sense, however, I would want more types of restraints, so if one doesn't work, the other does ... the restraints coming over the shoulder I would have expected ... with a Seat belt as last resort.

Fwiw, I inquired with what they use on Coasters at Cedar Point, various Coasters, different restraints according to what the car and track requires ...

NONE of the Coasters at CP use THAT particular system :)
I'm glad to see ...

with a Seat belt as last resort.
According to the article, when you see a seat belt on a ride like this, it is basically used as a way of making sure the rider isn't too large/fat to safely ride the ride.

Have you tested using external power? Over the years, have found unpowered polarity switching to be unreliable. Especially problematic when used with DiSEqC motors or switch stacking.
H
No I have not. I just got it the other day and it is connected to six receivers working just fine. What I do is non power mini multi-switches work best with LNBF's and with LNB's
